It's a cell phone shot. I know my build may not be the most effective but other than the PP this is the guy I use in all my games. I figure instead of using a special purpose built character I will see how my normal hero fairs. It will give me an idea of what to expect in all my normal games of 40k. Castellan Alaric Posted August 30, 2012 Share Posted August 30, 2012 challenge VII complete, and castellan krae is victorious against the filthy xenos tyranids! turn 1 i move up 3" to avoid a turn 1 charge and kill 1 hormagaunt with a bolt round nids turn1 hormagaunts move up 6" and run 9" with the tervigon up behind them, spawning 6 termagaunts, who move up behind the hormy's. turn2 i move up and declare a charge on the hormy's, no guns so overwatch=nothing, i charge in, take 3 wounds (all saved) and kill 4 in return. they run, i run them down, destroyed. nids turn2 tervigon spawns 6 more termy's and they both move up,shoot and charge. i kill 1 from overwatch with my bolter and prepare for the damage. they cause 4 wounds between em and arty armor saves em all! i kill 4 from one unit and they run off the board :lol: turn3 i slaughter the other termigaunt unit, consolidate 1" towards the tervigon nids turn3 7 new termy's and the tervigon moves in for the kill. the termy's move up and charge with the tervigon, i overwatch the tervigon and got a hit with my melta shot! hah :P and i managed 4 wounds on him too! taking 1 in return. turn4 the termy's swing and miss while i kill the tervigon saving the 1 wound i got in return. nids turn4 they swing, i destroy them in return and the swarm is defeated! got a little dodgy at times, but once i got to the big guy it was over. i got great to hit rolls on him, hitting 7 out of the 9 times i swung at him. good stuff for castellan krae. if i'd give people advice, you people with jump packs have it good. wait on the move and jump over the hormagaunts to get to the tervigon and kill him fist. i had to kill 45 little guys before the big guy went down lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/258670-solo-crusade-competition/page/5/#findComment-3162435 Share on other sites More sharing options...

Bloodcrusade Posted September 1, 2012 Share Posted September 1, 2012 Just as late getting into this as Nards, but with the girlfriend gone to college again I once more have time for my plastic toys :) I'll be getting a pic up as soon as I can rummage around and find a camera. Marshal Konstantin Thunder Hammer, Storm Shield, Artificer Armor, Holy Orb, Bike Challenge I: Turn 1 Konstantin moves 12" followed by throwing the Holy Orb, scoring 3 hits/wounds. The space marines go to ground in attempt to save something but fail their 6+ cover, losing 2xJoes and the sarge. Space marines fail to hit Snap Firing and return to normal at end of their turn. Turn 2 Move 2" away and Rapid Fire, causing no damage. On the charge one wound cause by Overwatch is saved. They cause no wounds and Konstantin smashes them with his Thunder Hammer in return. Challenge I Victory. Challenge II: Turn 1 Begin be strafing to the side and killing a single boy with the bike's boltgun. Boyz move 6" forward and are a measly 1/4" out of range to open fire. Turn 2 Move forward and toss the Holy Orb, direct hit for 5xWounds removing the Nob and 4xBoyz. Morale is passed and declare a charge, Overwatch bounces off his armor as he crashes into them. Their feeble strikes fail to scratch his armor and Konstantin pulps 2 of them. They promptly fail their Ld and he laughs as they run away only to be ground under his tires. Challenge II Victory. Challenge III: Turn 1 Konstantin moves to the side 12" and opens fire. Amazingly the bolt round rings true and somehow penetrates the xeno's defenses, causing a wound. Overlord moves ahead 6" and runs 2 more. Turn 2 Moving to the opposite side, space is running thin. Opening fire once more only to watch the round bounce off the creature's metallic frame. Advancing another 6", the Overlord attempts to close the remaining 10" with a charge but the suppressive Overwatch fire causes a slight hesitation and he only rolls a 7 for distance. Turn 3 Deciding now is the time to move in for the kill, Konstantin advances and throws his Orb. Slight scatter still results in a hit, which the thing saves. Only managing a single hit after the Overlord completely misses, it is able to save the wound. Overlord lands 2 hits and wounds, Konstantin fails a save. In return all his attacks hit and wound, but are all saved. Turn 4-5 Konstantin and Overlord both slug it out causing multiple wounds/saves to each other. Turn 5 Overlord fails a save and is reduced to Int 1. Turn 6 Konstantin starts to feel the wear of constant parrying and swinging of his massive Thunder Hammer against this foul creature. It would only be a matter of time before the never tiring machine was able to overcome him. Knowing that if he allowed this thing to advance past him then his brothers would be in grave peril, Konstantin pulled his bike around a final time and charged the Overlord yet again. The creature was prepared for this attack and braced itself against the impact. Konstantin noted the strange sensation of the warscythe easily cutting through his armor as his bike crashed into the Overlord, knocking the creature's legs out from under him. Before it could regain its feet, Konstantin grasped the shaft and continued pulling it through his body against the protests of thousands of severed and burned nerves to close the final two feet that remained between him and his target. The thing just had time to raise its head and register what had happened before Konstantin's armored fist began pummeling into it. With its legs stuck under the bike and Konstantin holding it fast the Overlord was trapped with no option but to take the abuse of the Space Marine's wrath. Only after the thing's unholy green light of its eyes left it did Konstantin stop, the armor of his own fist cracked and blood seeping through. Unable to move himself he laid there impaled on his victim as darkness slowly crept around his vision, the fires of battle seeping out of his veins. Overlord rolls a '1' for Protocols. Challenge III....uh, Victory? (Both died simultaneously. He did "Complete" the Challenge technically) Try to see about getting the other Challenges done later today when I run over to my buddy's house. I have to admit I am not fairing as well as I would hope but then again dice hate me on a regular basis so it isn't unexpected. Challenge 1 Turn 1 Marines stand their ground and let loose with bolters. A well aimed shot manages to get through so I'm down to 1 wound before I even moved! Reclusiarch Nardella moves forward and then runs. Turn 2 Marines fire again but do no damage. Nardella moves again, shoots his plasma pistol and kills 1 Marine. He bellows in rage and declares a charge. 2 rounds hit him from overwatch but bounce from his armour. He heads straight for the Sgt issuing a challenge. The sarge accepts and the sarge manages to land 1 hit and wound. The rosarius deflects the power fist and Nardella in turn crushes the Sgts head like popping a pimple. The squad passes their moral check and fight on. Turn 3 The marines pile in and hit 3 times yet cause no wounds. Nardella, tired of this little annoyance, beats all their faces in. Challenge 1= Victory Challenge 2 Turn 1 Both orks and Nardella moves forward Turn 2 The orks move forward and shoot. 2 wounds are saved by the artificer armour. Orks declare a charge but fall short. Nardella fires overwatch but his pistol overheats. His armour saves him again. Nardella moves forward and fires his pistol again but the sights must be off due to the overheat and he misses. Once again he runs at his opponents, their measly overwatch fire doing nothing to stop him. A challenge to the Nob is issued and accepted. The nob lands 2 wounds but again the rosarius saves Nardellas life. In return Nardella ripped out the orks spine. Turn 3 Nardella swings away with his crozius and kills 3 orks. The orks full of rage pummel the young reclusiarch into the ground. Challenge 2= Defeat Challenge 3 Turn 1 Nardella and the foul machine move toward each other. Turn 2 Nardella fires his plasma pistol but misses. He declares and charge and makes the distance. An epic fight ensues. The foul machine manages to land 2 blows but the rosarius deflects them. Nardella is sickened by the sight of the creature and smashes his power fist into its chest 5 times! The things armoured body manages to with stand the first 3 blows but the last 2 punch clean through it. Terrified that this may be its last battle it turns to run. Nardella has other plans though and as it tries to flee he snatches it up and crushes its skull. Challenge 3= Victory Challenge 7 Turn 1 Nardella moves forward. The tervigon spawns a new brood of Termigaunts that is 14 strong! The swarm moves forward. The new gaunts fire their weapons and strip a wound from the reclusiarch. Turn 2 Nardella moves forward and fires killing a termigaunt. He then charges the termigaunts as they stand between him and the tervigon. Overwatch does nothing and 6 of the creatures are killed by his mighty crozius. The tervigon spawns another brood of 11 and with the Hormagaunt cousins they all attack. Nardella continues to smash faces and kills another 5. He takes no wounds at all in return but the creatures pass their moral checks. Turn 3 Nardella downs 3 more of the beasts but weight of numbers proves his undoing as a lowly termigaunt strikes him down from behind. There are exactly 2 weeks and 6 days left in the competition, so plan accordingly. @Bloodcrusade: I've added you in, that Marshal is exactly what I would use if I was participating and not running this. I'll be interested to see how he does. @Nards: Might I suggest black dice with Templar crosses for the sixes? Or perhaps try holy water and incense on the ones you have. philsminions Posted September 4, 2012 Share Posted September 4, 2012 Got my warlord completed tonight. I present Reclusiarch Laertes: complete with PP, JP, Crozius, and MB. The pics are still not as good as I wish they were...it's hard to tell, but his armor is not black. EEEK! I know, I know...a chap without black armor?! I wanted something a bit different to represent Arty Armor, so I went with a combo of Warplock Bronze/Black Wash and highlights with Runelord Brass. It's very dark, but just noticeable enough in person to see that it isn't the typical black with grey highlights. I like it, and that's what counts, right? :) The JP is from Max Mini, the PP is from the 25th Anniv CF model, and the small left shoulder shield is from Scibor. Just a few things to give him some uniqueness. Castellan Alaric Posted September 4, 2012 Share Posted September 4, 2012 so i just completed challenges X and XI with castellan krae and came out victorious on both challenges! the dready was the biggest challenge. those blood talons were scarry, and all that strength 8 shooting (melta gun and magna grapple) here we go: challenge X furiso dread x-armor,blood talons,magna grapple: turn1 castellan krae moved up 4" to stay out of turn 1 charge range. -BA turn1 furiso moves up 6 and runs 5" to close turn2 i fire my melta gun and manage to glance a hull point off being out of melta range. i needed a 9 for my charge range and rolled an 11! now, he overwatched and my iron halo saved me from the wounding manga grapple. i wounded me once in combat and i struck back 5 times only taking another 1 hull point off the dready. -BA turn2 more cc. he swung and managed another wound, but my armor held. i then smacked back 4 times knocking 2 more hull points off and destroying it! castellan krae made the souped up dready a pile o' so much scrap :) challenge XI tzeentch daemon prince, 3xscreamers: turn1 i shot my bolter after moving 4" up, killing 1 making them take a daemonic instability test and the were destroyed! daemons turn1 the DP moved up 6 and ran 4" to close. turn2 i fired my melta and rolled a 1 to wound :lol: so no wound from that, then we had 1 round of combat where i took no wounds and wounded him 3 times in return, killing him. in regards to the daemon prince i'm curious if the DP had an invul or some sort of daemon weapon? also, are psychic attacks like bolt of tzeentch done in the shooting phase? if not then i did it wrong and will do the challenge again to make it right. thanks! gonna get my hands on stats and such for the wolves and space elves soon so i can run those 2 challenges as well. Challenge IV: Turn 1 Konstantin boosts forward to block the entrance and get out of LoS of the building's big guns. Not being able to draw a bead on him, the Vet squad on the battlements jump down, better than waiting on the roof to die. After Leap Down! tests 2 joes survive (The -3 on the rolls wiped them out). Shooting scores a single wound which is saved. Turn 2 Konstantin ignores the Vets and assaults the building, electing to throw the Holy Orb instead of attacking as normal. Rolls a '6' for hits on the unit inside, killing everyone buy the commander. Vets move to the side 6" and fire, doing nothing against Konstantin's Toughness 5. Turn3 Assaults the building, getting a single glancing hit which the commander fails his save. In an attempt to save their commander, the Vets launch an assault. Marshal fails to hit with Overwatch. Vets miss with all attacks, Konstantin pulps both in return and consolidates. Turn 4 Konstantin assaults the building again, scoring two glancing hits, commander saves one. Commander is snug inside the building. Turn 5 Once more with feeling. One glance and Commander fails his save. Challenge IV Victory Challenge V: Turn 1 Konstantin moves forward 12", tosses his Holy Orb which wipes two DC(Including Thunderhammer), Chaplain saves with his Rosarius. Declares a charge, nothing hits from Overwatch, and gets 10", enough to close the distance. Declares challenge which the Chaplain accepts. Hammer of Wrath scores a wound on the Chaplain, who causes a single wound that's saved. In return Konstantin get's a splatter kill with his Thunderhammer. DC attack to no avail, Precise Hit removes the Axe and a Joe Turn 2 All DC hits are saved, in return fails his Feel No Pain and is killed. Challenge V Victory Challenge VI: Turn 1(Ahriman manifests 2, 3, and 6) Move onto the edge of starting island, fire with Twin-Linked bolters but Ahriman saves the wound. Ahriman does Fire Shield, then attempts to moves closer. Inferno lands a direct hit however fails to wound. Out of range for anything else. Turn 2 Not wanting the risk the difficult terrain yet, Konstantin stays on his island and fires again accomplishing nothing. Ahriman renews Fire Shield, and moves 3" closer. Konstantin manages to Deny the Witch the Inferno and Ahriman is still too far away for Molten Beam. Turn 3 Konstantin moves in. Holy Orb lands in middle of nowhere and he barely makes his assault. Fire Shield causes 12 hits(2D6) but only 1 wound which is saved, Hammer fails to wound. Ahriman fails to penetrate Konstantin's armor and in return fails his Invul save and is killed by Str8 Thunderhammer. Challenge VI Victory EDIT: Completed more Challenges after work. Challenge VII: Turn 1 Konstantin moves up full 12" and throws Orb which lands in middle of nowhere for a second time. Makes the assault distance to the Tervigon with a 9" Charge. Tervigon is forced to accept challenge. After attacks, Tervigon is down one wound and Konstantin is unscathed. Tervigon poops out 12xGaunts. All gaunts move in and join the assault, granting the Tervigon rerolls for overwhelming Konstantin. Thunderhammer strips 3 wounds from the Tervigon and it takes one from Konstantin. Everyone passes morale. Turn 2 Konstantin takes away another wound from the tervigon while taking none. Hormagaunts fail morale and run off board. Tervigon produces another 10xTermigaunts, but double 4's prevents any more from being made later. New unit also joins assault. Konstantin is able to take away its final wound while blocking its death throes with his storm shield. Tervigon's explosion kills 4 from the 12xman brood and 6 from the 10xman. Both squads fail their morale horribly with-out the Ld10 boost from the Tervigon. Konstantin runs one squad down while the other runs off the board. Challenge VII Victory Challenge VIII Turn 1 Konstantin moves forward and chucks an Orb. Even with a direct hit for 3, snake eyes only cause one wound. Miraculously though the Paladin fails his armor and takes a wound(Daemonhammer). Overwatch causes a wound which is saved, but charge distance is 1" short...crap. Paladins move forward and open up with their guns. Konstantin takes a rending wound and saves armor. They charge into CC. They Perils on Hammerhand with snake eyes, causing a Psycannon gunner to take a wound. Daemonhammer accepts challenge. Konstantin strikes a felling blow while the Paladin fails his Invul. Paladins stand fast. Turn 2 Paladins pass Hammerhand. Konstantin issues a challenge, which is accepted by the Warding Stave thinking he will stand a better chance. Paladin misses and Konstantin rewards his impudence with two solid wounds. Paladin finds the Thunderhammer smashing through his 2+ Invul to instakill him(4+1 for saving throws). Paladins are amazed by he's sheer ferocity and fail their morale, running back 8". Konstantin consolidates towards the fleeing Grey Knights 5". Paladins regroup because 'ATSKNF', moves around and open up with their guns again. Konstantin takes another wound from Psycannon fire. Paladins charge in. They pass Hammerhand, Konstantin issues a challenge. Halberd Paladin accepts. Halberd causes a wound which is saved, in return fails one of two wounds from Konstantin, suffering instant death. Paladins fail morale and run off board. Challenge VIII Victory So another couple done. Honestly didn't think paladins would be as easy as they were, luckily the Warding Stave failed first round of CC with him. Have tomorrow off so will try to finish getting caught up on the challenges.
