+++Fleets of the Heresy+++

Here another ship, donated by the fellows over at The First Expedition:

Also I have found an overlooked ship which should be shared with the B&C list.

From Betrayal, the Emperor's Children Light Cruiser Locrian, destroyed by the Katara. Betrayal, p117.

I really need to get FW's Betrayal. And some Mk II bundle kits. And some Mk IV bundle kits. And a Mk III Assault Bundle. And a Cataphractii Power Axe bundle. Forgeworld is about to suck me dry. And all because of one book.

They are expensive but The book is great. It will give you a whole new look on SMs

The Silent Prince, Night Lords Legion. From Soul Hunter by ADB.

The Third Eclipse, Night Lords Legion. From Void Stalker by ADB.

Loyalty's Lament, Night Lords Legion, (detsroyed during the Primogen retrobution on Tsagula.) from Void stalker by ADB

Hmm, was wondering why they haven't been in the list before. Do the sources actually state that these ships were around during the Crusade/Heresy? If not, it would be very possible that they were built or stolen after the Horus Heresy.

The Silent Prince was one of the ships pulling ahead of the main fleet to catch the assasin that just killed Curze. So it was active in the years after the sige at the very least.

The other two was in the fleet that remaind in orbit around Tsagula after the assasination. Or at the very least returned and was stuck there when the XIII Legion attacked.

So all of these ships where in the legion in the years after the siege. And I don't think that the Legion at that time had any real shipbuilding capabilities so my conclusion is that these ships has been with the Legion for some time and most likley were active during the crusade/heresey.

OK guys - I haven't been around for a while - the upgrade is taking it's toll on my online time. This is great and am updating the new ships in my records - will become visible once the bbcode issue is addressed.

I'll make sure to add the recent findings! :tu:

Indirectly hinted at/suggested: Legio XIX - Raven Guard - Nicor, Battle Barge based off a Charibdys-Class Grand Cruiser, Imperial Armour Volume 10: The Badab War part 2 page 117.

The Charybdis-Class Grand Cruiser being a type rarely seen since the early days of the Great Crusade. Currently in use by a possible Raven Guard Successor Chapter, the Carcharodons Astra, possibly a 2nd founding chapter (exact founding unknown, indirect evidence to have existed in late M32).

If anything, it'll at least give them a slightly larger list since it currently appears to be lacking.

The logic these sound. In the absence of contradicting evidence I second their inclution.

The Silent Prince is Scouring era at least and is probably a Battlebarge since it carried 4th and 7th Companies, but no mention of it service is made. It could well be Heresy era since I'm not sure what ship building facilities the Night Lords have post Siege. The ref is p. 344.

We don't know whether this ship has been built during the Heresy/Crusade, or built/looted afterwards. Note that the Night Lords have been known to loot enemy ships. So it might not be that strange that this is actually a Post-Heresy ship. At this point it's all speculation.

And here another ship by the way:

Mechanicum Gloriam - Mechanicus capital ship - destroyed in opening of Martian Civil War, (Mechanicum, pp.317-8)

Another ship, taken from BFG magazine #2:

Conqueror - Imperial Army or Ultramarines (my speculation here) - Victory class Battleship - Source: BFG Magazine #2 (page 37) - survived the Heresy, enlightened the galaxy after the Age of Strife, led the cleansing of System Stabulo of once human deviants that polluted the Sector Tempestus.

After the Heresy if fought during the Macraggen War, which is why I imagined it might have been an Ultramarines ship. It's not for sure though, all speculation.

  • 3 weeks later...
  • 2 weeks later...

Hmm, that's a bit of a grey area. I would imagine that some Chapters (at least the ones still bearing the Legion names) might have access to some of the older ships. Same would go for the early Second Founding chapters (Black Templars come to mind here).

But this would be more of an exception than the norm though.
