Yes, Elmo, I hope so. Perhaps an army photo is in order once they're done. :)

As for the pipe colour, I'll look into metallics. The guitar wire bits are already copper...I suppose I could go for a brass colour. I might check the art shop this weekend as they have far more range than GW.

I finished the two Primaris Psykers today.

Rather happy with how the resurrection orb turn out that this one is (probably rather ill-advisedly) fiddling with...

Attaching the left arm-section of the orb-holder and the right-arm section of the pistol holder after painting the `inside` meant there is a bit of a seam down the outside of their cloaks, but I'm not over bothered about it.

The pistol-wielder got the eye-in-a-ring-upon-an-I Adeptus Astra Telepathica icon on his scripture-streamers, while the orb-fiddler got a different AAT icon (I found in my 7th ed. eRulebook) on the back of his collar (not my best freehand, I'll admit).

Working on the enginseer and his base now.

They look great Kier! The green is as good as ever but the scribble scrolls are really nice, the symbols and weathering really pop. The palantir looks very good, like the green might part to reveal something... A great fit to the Shrineworld, I'm looking forward to seeing the Enginseer next :D

Thank you.

For the orb I mainly followed GW Duncan's tutorial on how to do a Necron Overlord:

In short:

Caliban Green over the entire orb.

Warpstone Glow over all but the lowest parts.

Moot Green over the top of the orb.

Thinned Warpstone Glow over the transition between Moot and Warpstone to blend them a bit.

I then went a little further myself:

A Biel-Tan Green shade over all the orb.

I then painted on some horizontal streaks in Warpstone Green (and if I remember correctly I then added a little Moot Green to each) then painted a layer of Tamiya Clear Green over the whole orb. That had a really good effect on it, and finally a layer of gloss varnish for added shine.

Edit: I wasn't expecting the actual video to appear in my post but....Nevermind :)

If you do try it, please show us the results.

I'm keen to try something similar on a power weapon blade. As I have Tamiya Clear Red/Green/Blue I may experiment with them all.

That reminds me: I have, from the Empire cannon kit, a stack of four cannon balls...I could do them up as different coloured orbs! :biggrin.:

More seriously:

Challenge Completed.

Praise be to the Omnissiah.

He looks brilliant, the black and white crenellation on his robe look great and the girder on the base is a nice extra touch. He'd be a great model even without the LED so you must use him next time you hit the table ;)

Wow...my coaching for the challenge helped, huh? Success :laugh.:!

Seriously, this is beyond great, Kierdale. The bolts along the robe are a great touch as well as the crenellation that the Lord Commissar has already spoken about. He, er, "It", looks fantastic and the standing grass is another great detail.

Congratulations on a superb model!

Thanks, WarriorFish, and thanks for the support, Mehman.

I'm not sure when I'll next get a game. Hopefully this year. Plenty of time for some more tanks for the enginseer to take care of...

I'm very tempted to get some of the new Ad Mech minis (partially for use as allies for the Shrineworld, a detachment from the neighbouring forgeworld of Alceforge, perhaps...and also as I simply like the look of them!) but I also had a thought:

This....

...a detachment of Ad Mech Necromundan ashwaste veterans with Van Saar tech as allies for the Shrineworld....?

So this is where you hide! That techpriest is great, a really inventive conversion. I've a lot affinity for half/half black/white face mask, too

Indeed you do! :biggrin.:

I really must steal and warp your paint scheme/style for one of my Psychopomps sometime...

And other musings:

Having got the new WD today I'm sorely tempted to get some Skitarii not for converting into Necromundan guardsmen (as I'd need a few boxes just to get enough special weapons of the same type. Why do they only put one of each in there?! FW volkites do look like plasma calivers...but at 30pts a weapon....), but for making an Ad Mech kill team. In that case the mix of special weapons in the kit would be useful. There's enough bits for a pair of Alphas too, I think...and it would keep the project small... I may have to start a thread over in the Ad Mech forum for my Alceforge killteam once the full Skitarii range are out.

  • 1 month later...

I'm back from a three-week holiday to the UK (visiting my family. We had a fantastic time though the jet lag is proving hell to get over, particularly for my two-year old son. And if he doesn't sleep, no one sleeps).

I didn't buy anything for the Shrineworld but will soon pick up another ten ungors to complete the minimum for my conscript squad. My regularl GW (Nakano) closed last weekend (jet lag and unpacking prevented me from getting to the closing party) and is moving to Harajuku to open next weekend as 'Warhammer Harajuku'...and I'll be working this weekend so I'll miss the opening party too :(

I entered my Enginseer in GW Jimboucho's Skitari Painting Competition (I submitted it before the codex came out and we discovered they weren't a unit in it!) and submissions closed last weekend, with people voting through this week. Sadly there's only two entries! Mine and a squad of the sword-wielding assassins.

I'll try to get a decent photo and upload it.
