How about another heresy era force msn-wink.gif

Because I already have the bits and baubles, but they're not armor marks that were used in the Heresy. I do plan an allied heresy detachment at some point in the future, but I want it to be ~perfectly fluffed~ (No MKVII armor in 30k)

MKvii was developed on terra during the heresy :/

 

Because that was only dispersed to the legions on Terra, limiting me to Imperial Fists - again, White Scars, or Blood Angels - Space Wolves, Dark Angels, Salamanders ect wouldn't have access to it. 

 

 

Why Ultra Marines? There insignia looks like a toilet seat.

 

Beef, because their rules are STROOOOOONG.

 

Also grimdark blue is super fun to paint. 

 

 

And is super lame. Seriously.

 

Nothing says "Unite humanity through politics or bolt round" like Mk II

 

Exactly. MkIII armor is the epitome of "we're going nowhere, come and move us jerk"

I heard a rumor a few months ago, during the apocalypse rumors, that Games Workshop was going to be releasing a Fortress Monastery terrain kit. I was holding out for that for another year before I break down and build one kitbashing.

As for lighting, now that I'm employed, I'm looking into a lightbox, limited by what I currently own.

Well maybe they will but I feel that GW will hold off on more scenery for imperials probably release some xenos versions maybe.

 

I love your army brother and hopefully I'll come back to the hobby one day and rebuild my heresy force

Oh I know, fluff wise its a bit off, but I know damn well they're not gonna make a scale model of the Phalanx. As for the Realm of Battle board, my friend has two of those tiles, and while it is a good idea I think I'm gonna hold off on that purchase, just to see what comes out and not have that "If I had only waited!" regret.

About the lightbox, some friends of mine made a suggestion on a very easy way to get it. If you have IKEA in your contry, you go there and buy one of the clear/whiteish trash cans they sell. It's hard plastic of some sort, but it makes for an easy and cheap lightbox. Just saw a part of it out to make a square hole were you can put your camera, and you are set. If i'ts a bit big you can just saw it off and half, to lower it. Two of my friends use that as a lightbox to great effect. =)

I think I'm gonna get one off amazon now that times are a little nicer, and hopefully some new units! Papa needs rapier batteries, Spartan Assault tank, 3 predators, and a Fire Raptor...


Realistically, probably either the three predators or the Spartan.

Finally. After 2~ years of durdling I got around to putting these jerks in some foam. Bag 1 is full. Bag 2 on the other hand, is in planning... I also got my boy Thomas (goatboy) to doodle on it. Hella stoked to be able to tote this around.

After the heresy games this weekend, I am super motivated to get these guys turned out for the next one, so I have new toys and a drive to finish these guys up. You can actually see some of the stuff I started working on, because I wanted to try out new toys. Speaking of, the Master of Signal is a fun toy, and after seeing the Fellblade, Whirlwind Scorpius, and Sicaran in work this weekend I have come to the conclusion that I need them. At least one of each.

Man am I glad I found this thread.

 

Some fantastic pieces in hwre, Terran your yellow is lovely when combined with that wash... I gotta work on something like that for mine!

 

I've got a 40k siege vanguard with several squads of boarding shield tacticals in there. I know it ain't 30k, but rerollable armour saves = winning!

 

Love the Achilles too. Any plans on weathering it up a little? How dya find it? I've used one for a bit now, and love the frustration on people's faces as they try to kill it in vain!

Just saw this; I personally love the Achilles - mine has a tendency to go toe to toe with larger vehicles (my World Eaters friend has a Spartan that loves to spar with the Achilles..) and it pretty much refuses to die.

 

As for the rest of this army, the direction I want to take is 3k Imperial Fists* with 3k points of space marine allies, probably a traitor legion, 2k worth of Mechanicum allies for my Titan, and 2k worth of Imperial Army allies. This makes it a very fluffy Great Crusade army, the ultimate question is what legion do I pick as allies? Sons of Horus are appealing, so are the Emperor's Children. That way I can take Fulgrim and all those great looking Phoenix guard and slap em in a Spartan.

Since the snow storms in Richmond is being a problem, the eternal curse of working for the department of transportation, I haven't had much time to paint. I did, however, get this done.

The Centurion was described over on the 30k forums as having "that old man strength" because his face looks like he's too old for this ****, but isn't ready to retire yet. And the group photo is another step towards my goal, at which point I can begin on my secondary legion. A traitor force...
