depthcharge12
Thanks for the tip weber :) I think everyone is just mad at the paint job.I mean, it's not like the world eaters to get shafted with stupid silly looking models or the only crappy rules in the whole 30k books....but heyI'm surprised that they didn't opt for the all bronze with red highlights. Even if they did the white, it would've looked better with bronze instead of the blue and red.Now they look like 'Merica @&$/ yeah! marinesCrappy rules? Um...What? The Death Guard and Emperor's Children got far worse rules. Compare the Butchers with the Phoenix Guard and you will see the Butchers outclassed them completely. Similarly, the WE Rite of War is great - having Hatred and 're-rolling some Run/Charge results is golden. The World Eater infantry will have Rage and Hatred from the start, while the EC get Crusader and some small Turn 1 bonus. Or, look at the Medusan Immortals - terrible rules. I really don't get the WE complaints over their rules. So, you don't have Drop Pods as standard? Well I bet the Death Guard wanted something more than what we got. I mean, immunity to pinning is just heartbreaking. The Night Lords pretty much have that as standard, what with having the option to Fall Back. At least your Primary can kill more than AV13.... mine can only glance a Contemptor to death. Poor Morty. Sorry if this comes across as a rant. Anyhow. Back on topic, the Red Butchers look very nice indeed, though they look like they are....dancing?Yeah, Night Lords just Fall Back further than expected. :PDepth's complaint is the....... redundancy of the WE rules, which I can see. Their rules are very situation specific. Thank you sir from saving myself from yet another page long rant. But hey at least we get ap 4 chainaxes against marines. YEAAAAAAAAAHH!!! Thank you sir from saving myself from yet another page long rant. But hey at least we get ap 4 chainaxes against marines. YEAAAAAAAAAHH!!! That's the one thing I don't get since even the chain-axe's description says its supposed to the most effective chain weapon when it comes to penetrating armor. Honestly I'd expect to be something like a Power Axe or Chainfist, but with reduced(or at) strength to show that it isn't a chainfist or power axe. Adra'Melek
Did you want special rules to allow them to punch through power armour and rip out spines? :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/270656-incoming-heresy-models/page/103/#findComment-3565736 Share on other sites
depthcharge12
Did you want special rules to allow them to punch through power armour and rip out spines? :) That would be a nice concession.... Ahem I know how it sounds and yata yata everyone thinks they can do better. But I for one would've enjoyed seeing the old rules for chainaxes where you can't take better than a 4+ save against them! or even reduce the armor save by 1. Everyone would be scared to let them reach their lines then. Now we get axes that can only cut through 1-2 maximum units in the heresy. And reroll 1s on pinning and run checks? Well there are way too few pinning weapons in the heresy to begin with, and only 1/6 of the time you can reroll, and reroll 1s on running is very situational and 1/6 of the time again. I can't hear you over I5 ap2 strikes in cc and auto winning draws, which happens quite often in day to day games, especially if you can't hurt each other. And winning a round in HH is amazing since you can sweeping advance, and they don't have ATSKNF Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/270656-incoming-heresy-models/page/103/#findComment-3565752 Share on other sites
Kol Saresk
Honestly, I can see Depthcharge's concern. The World Eaters' ruleset is focused on letting them continually move and then gain bonuses out of CC. However, all the bonuses are predicated on winning in CC, they are not inherent to CC situations. Meaning, just because a World Eater is in CC, he will not necessarily get his CC benefits.

Meanwhile you can always have at least one Night Lord in CC with an AP3, S+1 with Rending Chainglaive that strikes on Initiative. Meanwhile chainaxes are just AP4. Despite the description that they are supposed to be the ultimate in chain weapon after the chainfist. And if it's a fifteen man Raptor Squad you're throwing in there, you're pretty much guaranteed to not only have a maximum of fifteen chainglaives, but they're also striking at +1W since they are bulky which makes them count as 2 models each which gives them the numerical superiority achievement for the "A Talent for Murder" rule. And this is the Night Lords, who are not a CC-oriented Legion.

It doesn't have to be McNeillian in the ruleset, but I can see why the World Eaters ruleset might not live up to fluff. DuskRaider
People forget that these rumors come from a small small group. It's easy to figure out who is who, especially with my last name in my forum name. (Need to get that changed). Leak enough and NDA law comes into play. with forge world it's a very small group who also enjoys "fluffy" kind of teasers or jigsaw puzzles etc. It provides entertainment to those interested. At this point forge world is gearing up for a big open day and it will be due to the larger than expected interest. Two primarchs will be shown, one finished, one WIP. If that WIP Primarch is not Mortarion, I will set myself on fire in protest. It is Corax, I believe. Get the matches ready. That would just be mind achingly stupid. Knight of the Raven
I love World Eaters more than any other legion, but I can't say the models interest me, be they rampagers or red butchers.
