Raven Angel
I'm not sure they will get more tac stuff. Their are already shoulder pads for the armour and they should all work on Mks II - V. Not sure they ever had Mks VI or VII. They should be getting a contemptor and doors sets soon but other then that all the Legion specific stuff from book 1 is out including both SoH and LW transfers and etched Brass Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/270656-incoming-heresy-models/page/18/#findComment-3405354 Share on other sites
depthcharge12
I for one really like the look of the new tartaros legion terminators, and while I prefer my catiphractii termies for my WEs, I think I might still get a squad. IIRC, the tartaros did have some experimental rules a while back that conferred sweeping advance, but lowered the invuln to a 6+ If this is true and shows up in the next books, I would think it would be worth considering. As to whoever said they can't take termies in the Angels wrath RoW, you can, but you have to stick them in a storm eagle or caestus assault ram. Im curious as to what the World Eaters and Death gaurd will get as a new unit in the next book as the new established units for the EC are the kakaphoni marines, and the SoH get reavers. daveNYC
In the latest HH novel, the WE are all rocking the Nails, so something to allow all the existing Legion units to reflect that would be nice. Not sure what to do for one specific new unit though. It's tricky because the traitor legions change at different times and at different speeds relative to each other. Unless there's a change to fluff, the DG stay fairly normal until they stall in the Warp, while the EC are already well off in crazyland. I guess the DG could get a destroyer type unit that dials the scorched earth up to eleven. Kol Saresk
I thought the World Eaters already having Nails had the Incarnate Violence and Bloodlust rules to show that? Or are those rules too korny? Greyall
Fluff-wise, all Eaters had nails, yes. Maybe they get Angron's Devourers? Even more brutal-looking, spiky Cataphracti Terminators. No idea for the Death Guard. Also, I recall seeing a Terminator torso for the Phoenix Guard. Some units already exist, some have to be made up, like the Bearers' Circle of Ashes. Give FW time, they don't let down. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/270656-incoming-heresy-models/page/18/#findComment-3405997 Share on other sites
Excessus
If I remember correctly from The Outcast Dead, only one of the three WE had nails there, and that was the sergeant. Greyall
Maybe they were in the process and were imprisoned before getting the things? I don't recall there being exceptions. Kol Saresk
I remember those two were new, but I didn't think they were that new. Huh. Might need to find my copy again. GhostMalone
I think with the world eaters it wasn't forced on all. I know varron of the knights errant didn't have them he was just a particularly rage filled guy Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/270656-incoming-heresy-models/page/18/#findComment-3406151 Share on other sites
Greyall
And here I was thinking it was more or less mandatory. I know the Eaters wanted to perform the surgery, but assumed it became mandatory after the first 100.000 had done it. Anyway, back on topic: I'd say Devourers, then, for the new models, but FW might as well come up with a new squad. Cyber-Mastiff breacher/tracker squad? Kol Saresk
Well, they could do the Triarri who were ship-to-ship specialists. Although, that might happen in the third book where the Battle of Phall is supposed to be covered. Maybe since Massacre is part 1 of Istvaan V, we might see some sort of defensive unit from the XII Legion. Wouldn't mind seeing how the World Eaters react when they are the defenders rather than the attackers. Greyall
They...spill cauldrons full of hot chainaxes over the ramparts? Actually that seems like an awesome sight to behold... Autocannons are sometimes seen as Khorne's 'ranged axes'. Maybe a Devastator Unit, aye, oriented towards defense. Kol Saresk
He is? I thought that model was just a conversion by one of the Forgeworld staff? Either way, as long as the Night Lords aren't Raptor Legion, I'll be happy. Greyall
You mean the Ork-Skull guy? That's not Sevvy, I think that was a homemade conversion by one of the FW's staff. But Sevatar is coming indeed, confirmed by one of the seniors at the same event. Well, one the NL's units will probably be an assault squad (my guess here, no confirmation). Whether a percursor to Raptors remains to be seen, but personally, I fancy the thought (not the entire Legion being airborne, of course). GrandMagnus
I always thought the raptors were just warped assault marines, am I wrong? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/270656-incoming-heresy-models/page/18/#findComment-3406499 Share on other sites
Greyall
Aye, but they also more or less share a trait: they love to pick on weaker prey, which seems to have roots on Pre-Heresy and Heresy use of Assault Marines (attack key points or rip heavy weapons squads to pieces) Since Night Lords are experts on preying on the weak, as well, they're very associated with Raptors, since Assault Troops fit their modus operandi. depthcharge12
My guess would be that the WEs were held in reserve to be used as a counter assault force to plug any gaps in the line. I believe that EC did most of the defensive work but who knows... Maybe the World eaters had a proto-Agrinator that just launched chainaxe armed berzerkers out of a cannon onto the enemy?
