Brother Excedis
Indeed they look good! A little bit of slice here and a punch there. Hehe. Where did that helmet come from? And how'd you know that's my favorite jump pack mark? And that siege breaker came out exactly as I thought he would. Spot on.
Spaced Hulk
Cheers brothers! Glad you like 'em I'm BALD!!!!! Looks Good Brother I am a Chainsword kind of guy. Bald and bionic I'm afraid brother (you did ask for grizzled! ). I'm thinking that background wise, Varus served alongside the Spectres of Occludus for a time, hence his nickname. He's also one of the oldest and most veteran Sergeants in 3rd Company, but hasn't progressed into the upper hierarchy of the Chapter due to his radical, sometimes anti-authoritarian tendencies . Still very highly respected though, because of both his experience and formidable combat skills. Indeed they look good! A little bit of slice here and a punch there. Hehe. Where did that helmet come from? And how'd you know that's my favorite jump pack mark? And that siege breaker came out exactly as I thought he would. Spot on. Thanks mate. Helm is actually from a Khorne Berzerker, with the bunny-ears carefully removed. The single thruster jump packs are my favourites as well, really wish that either GW or Forge World would release them as an upgrade pack (the Sanguinary Guard boxes are a bit expensive, especially when most of the parts are too ornate to use in this army). Background-wise, Raul leads 3rd Company's sole jump pack equipped Assault Squad (for the Sword Bearers, jump packs are rare outside of the Revenants). His squad also form Captain Orbec's personal bodyguard (his Praetorians, if you like ).

Spaced Hulk
Greetings brothers (and sisters of course ). Been quite a while since I posted an update, real life and a couple of other projects have been taking up most of my time recently. However, I haven't completely neglected the Sons of Mire. Vid Capture: Sword Bearer's Demi-squad Arawn, Unit Two-Three (Second Tactical Squad, Third Company), also known within the Chapter as the 'Vorpal Blades'. Image recorded during Orkoid Xeno-form containment and extermination operations on the jungle moons of Hrath XII, 703.M41. http://i1372.photobucket.com/albums/ag344/mat_at/ETL%20Vow%203/CIMG7690_zpsf1e86dfe.jpg Veteran brother Arawn, Second in Command of the Vorpal Blades. Armed with standard issue Godwyn Diaz boltgun, 'Brutus' pattern Astartes combat gladius and Mire Long Blade. Brother Zachariah. Armed with 'Hunter' Sub-pattern MkIV bolter and customised Mire Long Blade. Brother Gideon. Recipient of the Marksman Honour. Armed with Godwyn Diaz pattern boltgun and mono-molecular short sword. Brother Rakiel. Armed with MkIV Ultra pattern boltgun & Mire Long Blade. Brother Xaron. Armed with MkIV Ultra pattern boltgun & Mire Long Blade. As usual, not the best pics (still haven't built a light box I'm afraid ). However, these are the most 'complete' models I've painted for the Sword Bearers so far, ie: they're actually based(!), weathered (!) and have squad and company markings(!). And it's only taken me nearly 18 months . Obviously the pics are quite dark but hopefully you can make out the details, weathering etc. I'm quite pleased with the Tactical arrows and squad number on the right shoulder, my first attempt at free hand but I think it's worked quite well. Unfortunately the same couldn't be said for my attempts to paint the chapter symbol on the left shoulder pad . As you can see, I gave up and re-painted the base colour. I may end up giving them DA symbol de-cals instead (well, they're all members of the First Legion really aren't they ). However, this will require me to learn how to apply de-cals (my attempts so far have been equally frustrating! Micro-Sol is now on my 'to-get' list!). Gamewise, these will probably count as Carcharadons, which is why they all have additional close combat weapons. I intend to use the Carcharadon rules to represent the Revenants (as they have the Fear special rule) so I'll need a couple of Tac or Scout squads to go with the bike and jump pack units. Will be painting up another five Vorpal Blades (including the Srg and special & heavy weapon troopers) at some point in the future. Anyway, thanks for reading. C&C are welcome as always. Dark Rage
Very nice unit to add to your force, when you mentioned they were stationed on a jungle the sergeants pose looked as though he were using the long blade like a machete to slice through the vines and foliage, everyone has a blade as well which seems very practical for jungle terrain, very nice pose work on these, great stuff. deathspectersgt7
Looking Good Brother. For some reason I am not getting my updates.
Spaced Hulk
@ Dark Rage: Cheers mate! The 'jungle' background was really just the result of trying to get some decent pics of the models, as the light levels weren't co-operating that day. Like you said though, it ties in quite well with the combat blades and hopefully the weathering as well. @ deathspectresrg7: Thanks brother! Are you getting updates from any other topics you follow? If not, you probably need to change your Notification options (from the My Settings menu) so that it alerts you when topics are updated. Another quick update tonight: This is the WIP for my new version of Letholdus, Second in Command & Company Champion of the Revenants. The head is just a place holder at this point, as I'm thinking about using a HH Night Lords Terror helm so that he'll stand out from the rest of Second Company a bit more. Thanks for looking, and C&C are welcome as always. Dark Rage, deathspectersgt7 and Chaplain Lucifer 3 Back to top

Brother Excedis
Excellent progress brother. Starting to finally look completed. My one criticism is to me the chainsword on Letholdus looks bent or almost curved sideways in the second picture. Might just be me though.
Dark Rage
This is my chainsword, there are many like it but this one is mine. Looks cool, I think those FW large chainswords tend to come like that, I did try to use hot water to bend the one I had back to normal but the resin seems to just bend right back. Spaced Hulk
@ deathspectersrg7: Will give it a go mate. Just ordered two of the NL Terror squad heads from ebay (so I can build a bike mounted version of Letholdus as well ) @ Brother Excedis: Thanks brother! You're right about the sword. However, this is actually an improvement on how it looked when it arrived from Forge World. It was more of a 'chain boomarang' at that point! Will have another go at straightening it out before I prime the model. @ Dark Rage: Cheers mate! Glad it's not just me that buys expensive deformed resin I used hot water to get the sword to this stage, might try using a hair dryer to straighten it a bit more. Ok, update time. Even though I really should be painting my Heresy Era Raven Guard for 'March of the Legions', I've been building some more models instead. First up, a new Veteran Sergeant and a couple of bolter marines (possibly for yet another Company Veteran squad ): And secondly, Penitent Brother Nathanial, of the Sword Bearer's First Company: Thanks for looking, C&C is welcome Interrogator Stobz, Bryan Blaire, deathspectersgt7 and 3 others 6 Back to top
Gillyfish
I like the work you've put into posing your models; it really does add a lot to them. I'm looking forward to seeing the latest batch with paint on! Spaced Hulk 1 Back to top
Brother Excedis
The pose on Nathaniel is excellent. Portrays a subtle threat of violence while portraying someone who is looking. Not surveying but looking. For what? I ha en't the foggiest. My name ian't Nathaniel. Also that name, its good, but I find it funny. In a fluff filled with names like Learxhus, Telion, Lysander, or for the love of the Emperor Marneus Calgar, Nathaniel seems so normal. Spaced Hulk
Thanks brothers Just a quick Christmas update today, Letholdus is finished and ready for paint: And a couple of close ups of his death mask (much happier with this version): Planning on painting most of the helm black, and the skull mask features steel as usual. Thanks for looking, and for all the comments and feedback, and wishing you all a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
