Baldsmug
Hail Brothers! I started this WIP blog on another site but I think i would much rather have it here as i really like this community. so here is a quick copy paste to bring you up to date. Emperor be with you. :D Hello! I have recently kind of made a business out of painting stuff for my friends. Its kind of a trade based commission type of deal. This commission is greyknight army for a friend of mine which i am painting in exchange for 3 landaiders, a techmarine with servo harness and some bitz... maybe a couple gk terminators for parts too. The challenge: HQ: Coteaz HQ: Inquisitor Elites: Warrior acolytes x75 or so Elites: Death cult assassins x 6 or so Troops: 10man Grey Knight Strike squad Vehicles: Chimera x3 Vehicles: Land Raider Redeemer Fortification: Bastion. So far I have finished the 2 HQs http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/4/1/479253_sm-Coteaz%2C%20Grey%20Knights%2C%20Henchmen%2C%20Inquisitors%2C%20Ordo%20Maleus.JPG http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/4/1/479254_sm-Coteaz%2C%20Grey%20Knights%2C%20Henchmen%2C%20Inquisitors%2C%20Ordo%20Maleus.JPG http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/4/1/479255_sm-Coteaz%2C%20Grey%20Knights%2C%20Henchmen%2C%20Inquisitors%2C%20Ordo%20Maleus.JPG http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/4/1/479256_sm-Coteaz%2C%20Grey%20Knights%2C%20Henchmen%2C%20Inquisitors%2C%20Ordo%20Maleus.JPG http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/4/1/479252_sm-Coteaz%2C%20Grey%20Knights%2C%20Henchmen%2C%20Inquisitors%2C%20Ordo%20Maleus.JPG http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/4/1/479251_sm-Coteaz%2C%20Grey%20Knights%2C%20Henchmen%2C%20Inquisitors%2C%20Ordo%20Maleus.JPG http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/3/24/476705_sm-Coteaz%2C%20I%2C%20Inquisition%2C%20Inquisitor%2C%20Red.JPG He wanted me to paint this warrior acolyte up with special attention also because it is one of his favorite models. I have not done the flames yet because I want to do an OSL effect but I need to do some experimenting first. Really don’t want to mess this one up being that it has some sentimental value. http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/4/1/479257_sm-Coteaz%2C%20Grey%20Knights%2C%20Henchmen%2C%20Inquisitors%2C%20Ordo%20Maleus.JPG http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/4/1/479258_sm-Coteaz%2C%20Grey%20Knights%2C%20Henchmen%2C%20Inquisitors%2C%20Ordo%20Maleus.JPG Any tips on what to do next would be appreciated . I have a feeling its just going to come down to just doing it and hoping for the best. Finally here is the first test of the Grey Knight Strike Squad. I like to paint one guy all the way up first so I can figure out how I can achieve a certain look on the rest in slightly more efficient way on the rest. This guy didn’t take very long at all and I am hoping I will be able to pump out the rest of the squad in short order. http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/4/1/479246_sm-Coteaz%2C%20Grey%20Knights%2C%20Henchmen%2C%20Inquisitors%2C%20Ordo%20Maleus.JPG http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/4/1/479248_sm-Coteaz%2C%20Grey%20Knights%2C%20Henchmen%2C%20Inquisitors%2C%20Ordo%20Maleus.JPG http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/4/1/479247_sm-Coteaz%2C%20Grey%20Knights%2C%20Henchmen%2C%20Inquisitors%2C%20Ordo%20Maleus.JPG http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/4/1/479249_sm-Coteaz%2C%20Grey%20Knights%2C%20Henchmen%2C%20Inquisitors%2C%20Ordo%20Maleus.JPG Don’t mind the blur on the last one, I accidently touched the camera lens with one of my greasy mitts. Coming up I’ve got 2 dreadnoughts and the remainder of the GK strikers on deck. More to come! I just got the rest of the GK strike squad and the 2 dreads base colored, washed and ready for detail work. Hopefully I can some more done this weekend. http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/4/2/479620_sm-.JPG http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/4/2/479621_sm-.JPG http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/4/2/479622_sm-.JPG Going to try out techniques from this tutorial on this base. Should be fun. http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/516378.page http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/4/2/479623_sm-.JPG http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/4/2/479624_sm-.JPG http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/4/2/479619_sm-.JPG The rest of the guys are coming along slowly but surely. Only have 3 left to get up to this stage before i can do the paint chips and metallics. Then i can knock out the power weapons and call it a day on these guys. Hopefully I will be able to finish these guys by the end of next weekend or at least have everything done up to the force weapons. http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/4/8/481866_sm-.JPG http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/4/8/481867_sm-.JPG http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/4/8/481865_sm-.JPG Thanks for having a look. Messor
That's a fantastic PA Inquisitor, the glowing Thunder Hammer is an awesome look. How receptive to conversion do you think that model would be? Say, cutting off the Psyber eagle arm and replacing it with a more regular one? Baldsmug
That's a fantastic PA Inquisitor, the glowing Thunder Hammer is an awesome look. How receptive to conversion do you think that model would be? Say, cutting off the Psyber eagle arm and replacing it with a more regular one? I didn't assemble it but it looked like the eagle was a seperate piece that may have included the hand but i didn't really get a good look at it before painting. This guy was metal though and i don't know if a finecast version would be the same parts. I seem to remember having seen some conversions done in the past though with this model. Sorry i cannot answer your question very well. Thanks for the comments Brothers. I am going to try to get some more done this weekend beginning tonight, in fact i sould probably get to it instead of being on here right now. Thanks for looking, more to come Later that night..... I didn't manage to get quite as far as i wanted to with the squad of grey knights tonight but I think might be able to make it up tomorrow night. Hopefully i can at least get them all chipped up this weekend. I will post some pics tomorrow. Baldsmug
Thanks for the kind comments. Here are the pictures I promised. I Managed to get a lot more done this weekend then I thought I would. Also hung out with a friend who is getting back into 40k after a long time. He is starting a Necron army that is going to be a mix of Terminator Salvation and the blue glowing undeads from World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King. Any way... Nearly done with these guys. Baldsmug
Almost done with the strike squad. Just have to do the force swords. I wasn't sure how i was going to do the force weapon effects, so i had to do some experimenting to get the look i was after. I think I figured out how to get the effect i was after though so i will be finishing the strike squad this weekend. I wasn't thrilled with how Coteaz's hammer turned out so I touched it up a bit. %90 complete. death given form
I have to be honest, the OSL on the inquisitor is just way too much now. You've almost completely bleached the detail out of almost half of the model, which really is a shame. Learned a lot of valuable lessons so i think it was worth it. Thanks for the honest feedback i appreciate it :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274079-baldsmugs-forge-various-works-in-progress/#findComment-3363029 Share on other sites
