Ok yes, you can be forgiven for getting distracted. That is a very cool distraction indeed. I agree that the head is a touch low, is not a big deal though and certainly doesn't detract from the surrounding awesomeness!

Wow amazing . What else to say :smile.:

Cheers

I

I'll say this  Stop posting with photobucket or whatever it is DR; I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL i GET HOME TO SEE YOUR GOODNESS...And caps lock made me shout :tongue.:

Edited by Brother Stobz

Sooo I was painting my contemptor yesterday and my younger brother saw it and says "where are the chess pieces" I look at him confused and he says "well you put chequered squares on it.." I say back that they are just designs that my army likes to have but then it got me thinking and I am not sure if others have done it but I started thinking what piece would a dreadnought be and immediately thought a rook I mean come on its a walking tower that is likely to walk 'straight' at the enemies.. so now I think I may be adding chess piece symbols to certain units in my force.

Pawn - PA infantry

Knights - DW

Bishops or knights as well - RW

King - HQ IC's

No idea on queen but was thinking command squad or honour guard...

Anyway a little WiP update, should be finished soonish. may go for a bit more detail on the chess symbol.

C&C welcome as always.

Looking good!

Those little checks are spot on! Are they freehand or did you make a tiny template?

They look free hand :smile.: I've done similiar using a piece of tape to partition off parts, not too hard.

Thanks for the replies and yup Deapthcharge is right they were done with freehand, I wanted to add more iconography to this one since it is a relic, still not sure on the repent either, may come up with something else.

I love your Captain/CM! It's too bad you won't fully commit to the heresy

You need to be committed if you do heresy:wink:   . Great looking Dread DR.

Thanks both. I have been very tempted to follow the heresy path after seeing FW's dark angel kits but I don't think I could commit, I do plan on buying Lion when FW release him but I don't think I could turn full heresy, I like the new and old stuff.

Anyway Contemptor finally done. Also been moving a lot of the older squads onto 32mm and now may start adding more iconography to them, the yellow and black chequered pattern is supposed to be a campaign badge, green armour pieces represent they have fought alongside their founding brothers and the black and white chequered pattern is for service for a certain amount of time. will be adding some of these elements to the already complete stuff and new stuff in the works, next to finish is the chaplain on bike. Till then have a good Christmas everyone!

So I came across this on a 40k wikia, is this taken from a bl book? Didn't know the consecrators actually had a write up for a chapter master.

"Supreme Grand Master Nakir - Current Chapter Master of the Consecrators Chapter. Nakir cuts a striking figure clad in black war-plate and a long white cloak. His armour is a mix of archaic marks from the time of the Imperium's founding and the Horus Heresy -- pieces of Mark Three and Mark Four combined, studded with bonding rivets across the chest. A knightly helm taken from a suit of ancient Crusade Armour -- officially designated Mark Two -- completes the battleplate. This is crested front to back with a red brush. Nakir's face is surprisingly young, gaunt to the point of being skeletal. His eyes are a piercing blue, at odds with the mop of black hair on his scalp. His brow is tattooed with an Imperial Aquila in black, and a broken blade in red adorns each of his cheeks. There is a scar across the front and right side of his throat and evidence of an implant -- the wound that gives him his distinctive gravel-like growl of a voice. Nakir had been an Interrogator-Chaplain before his ascension to command of the Consecrators, the so-called Master of Souls. Even now a symbol of his past hangs at his waist, a wooden rod in the shape of a small Crozius Arcanum, studded with six black pearls. Each was a trophy of a Fallen made to repent, a remarkable feat for any Dark Angel, and almost unprecedented in one of Nakir's short service. He leads a Chapter dedicated to unearthing the secrets of the past. In battle, Nakir wields one of the legendary Heavenfall Blades, the Sword of Sanctity. This ancient obsidian blade is made of the same black material as its cousins. It was originally given to Grand Master Orias, the first lord of the Disciples of Caliban, who later fell in battle against the Orks of the Quolon Pass. Nakir had recovered it three decades earlier, and wished to return it to its proper master. But Azrael informed his fellow Chapter Master, that the blade had already found its proper master and that it was Nakir's by right of recovery. Supreme Grand Master Azrael knew that Nakir would bring honour to the cousin of his own blade, the Sword of Secrets."

May have to change my company master a little.

Thanks for all the replies everyone.

Sooo chaplain on bike is pretty much done, should get a pic posted soon and I also changed my company master who is now hopefully looking like Nakir's description, changed the head which I don't know if it makes him look younger and gave him a studded plate, decided to leave the cloak bone white as whenever the Dark Angels reference white I always think they mean bone white.

@FinylCut: Thanks for the kind words, I don't really have much new to show just yet but will definitely update with one once I get some newer stuff finished.

The banners been giving me a little trouble ( knew I should have considered getting a resin version instead of using the metal one) so I am adjusting it to make it more stable.

Hope everyone has a Happy New Year. My resolution.... to paint all the grey plastic I have gathering dust.

I like him! Have you thought about painting some stubble for his face?

Wouldn't stubble or a beard make him a little more hipster?

DarkRage, sir.  I have been following your work for quite some time and have never chimed in but I must say that you do a mighty fine job at painting your army!  Your attention to detail and weathering techniques are an inspiration to us all (or to at least me).  Great looking contemptor, by the way.

The detail in the face of your company master is great!  I like the tattoos and the hair!

Happy New Year!

  • 3 weeks later...
