Mhm...that new RG model sure looks shiny...

Unfortunately, the more restraint you try to show the shinier the models look. It's a basic law of physics.

Most definitely. The flesh is weak and was outdone by the shiny to the point where I ordered the new Triumvirate and GSIII, though I'll probably get rid of the GK and Cypher.

TITHI used one of the old metal Sternguard I've had for years (never built him as one because the bolter he came with had a malformed barrel) and turned him into a Sword Brethren squad leader as well as building all but the heads for two neophytes. Kicking myself at buying BT shoulder pads from FW though since it turns out I had some from an old BT upgrade sprue.

As Spaced Hulk once said here, years ago:

It's actually the 31st Law of the Lion: "Thou shalt buy more than you build, and build more than thou paint. So it is, and so it shall ever be, until the Sword is reforged."

Brothers and sisters today in the Hobby I picked out what weapons  I will use for the next 2 tactical Squads for my Ultra Marines.     In past week finally got into groove to add to my UM Chapter after  a year of looking at stuff on my desk.     Also can not wait to get RG and friends from my local hobby shop in a week or so.   I have to decide if I am going to paint it ohave some one else do it.    My FW RG is on top of my printer staring at me. :smile.::smile.::laugh.:

Greetings

Worked on knight number three a little more.

Acquired sponsons and assault cannon for a Land Raider Redeemer.

Played two games - only one of interest to B&C as I was playing xenos, and only one of my opponents used marines (Nurgle-types with five obliterators and other special effects) - unfortunately for them I played Ynnari Ghost Hall and obliterated them. On the first turn I used transports to get my psykers and two squads closer by hopping behind cover and weathering the storm of fire; he sent his big chaps forward but managed not to kill anything significant thanks to my judicious positioning. Hellish energies sent his men/things screaming into the warp on turns two and three, and he capitulated. Usually plague marines and their tougher mates are a real problem for me, as my imperial armies have relatively little AP2, but massed Wraithcannon laugh at pretty much everything, of course...

TITH my Kindle Fire once again proved to be too much of hassle so I ordered a physical Space Marines codex.  Figured while I was at it I'd nab Gathering Storm 3 and the first Triumvirate because I really want to paint up that Celestine model.  No idea what I'll do with Cawl probably will sit in a drawer somewhere for a few years.

Tith I did a Nuln Oil wash on my captain model and painted the base in preparation for the (actual) sand and rocks it will be getting tomorrow.

After that, just a tiny bit of detail on his face and I can officially say my first 100% complete model in almost a decade is DONE.

Its a good feeing.

This was the first model I finished since coming back from my 11 year hiatus.

TITH I built another :cuss Rhino.  I can't believe I have three more chassis of these things.  What the hell was I thinking back in 2011 when I was getting them?!

Also, I took stock of the two Land Raiders I plan to bust a move on in the coming ETL

* A MkII - Beastly FW resin but all the parts look well casted.  To my surprise, doors behind the LC sponsons are Rhino sized!  So I bought FW LR doors with the Aquila for almost nothing.  Sure I could use the ramp door, but I already have FW Crux doors for the other Land Raider.  So I have two LR Aquila doors I can do nothing with. :wallbash:

* A Phobos/Redeemer/Crusader - Oh yeah, MAGNETS BABY!  I have the spare bitz to be able to have one chassis yet any weapon combo I would care to use.  Even have the sponsons for a Terminus (even though I don't play Apoc).  Seriously, if a Primarch can be used in 40K games, then a Terminus should be allowed.  Hmm.  Maybe I'll just need to talk to my crew about that ...  Did I mention I have FW Crux doors for this thing?  Oh yeah, and the space extra armor plates too :woot:    Now then, why do this?  1) I don't want the make more LR just to have different weapons and 2) I will likely use 1 LR at a time anyway.

So, if I'm going to have more than one LR, it should be because one of them is from the Heresy days ... even though don't do 30K.

Yeah man, these tanks are gonna be shweet.

Tith I picked up the khorne deamon kin codex and a demon prince from a local dude... that means the only 7th ed. chaos codex I don't own is the actual demon codex... (ok, don't have wrath of magnus, but I have traitor legions and that's close enough)

I just need to score the 3.5ed chaos marines codex and the eye of terror campaign codex!

On a side note, the local scene was out in force... saw 8 tables with almost all playing 2k or bigger games... tho one guy was playing genestealer cult and magnus in one army (what is fluff?) Tho his Maggie was nicely painted!

Also apparently former decades long MTG players turn into some major 40k players when they liquidate their MTG assets... so many drop pods and knights.. wish I could buy drop pods in lots of 10 like it's no biggie... lol

I finished my 5 man Assault Squad and 10 Tactical Squad. Working on two Land Speeders at the moment.

It's been a good month for me hobby wise, usually I hate painting but since I've spent at least an hour a day on it, I've really started seeing results

Today I took a break from studying and I transferred 13 paints from GW pots to 26mm dropper pots. After watching a bunch of videos I did it myself, was easy but lessons learned

Paints done: Abaddon Black, Eshing Grey, Dawnstone, Ulthuan Grey, White Scar,  Zandari Dust, Ushabti Bone, Screaming Skull, Evil Sunz Scarleyt, Bloodletter, Lahmian Medium

Bonus points if you can guess what chapter this is for.

Lessons Learned:

!! Dedicate a funnel per color range (and or specialty) working from light to dark. So one for reds and one for whites, one for Spiritstone Red, another for Green Gem etc etc.

!! Do one at a time, and remove the label so it doesn't get paint on it.

!! Dip the lid tip in the paint to mark the colors before hand

Air series is much easier to do, I know its less cost per ml of pain but the ease of use/transfer.

Some of my paints that never opened were already solid. aka Mephiston Red and Ceramite White. Not sure what to do.

GW Paints are an awesome way to find calcium build up in a sink (seriously it stuck nowhere but some calcium build up I must have missed).

If the paints are completely solid, then they could be toast, otherwise try some Lahmian medium or equivalent, should thin the paints back to something use-able. :smile.:

I'm trying to recover the Ceramite white and it seems to be working. I wish these stainless steel ball bearings would come so I could mix them a bit better, big pieces of mud in it that i'm trying to find and smash.

Tith I painted the engines of my Stormraven, both the mains and the smaller hover thrusters.

Put some paint on my vows for the Talons Reach event as well.

I have a deadline of June 2nd to have my army table-ready, so I've been trying to paint a little every day.
