TITHI mostly stripped the two preowned Vindicators I bought earlier this year and an old Venerable Dreadnought that had been painted using an old version of the Crimson Watchers colour scheme I want to replace. Also tried my hand at getting into light modding for DoW.

Today in the hobby, this arrived:

Now all I have to do is figure out a colour scheme I actually like and that isn't a copy-paste of one of my (many) marine Chapters. :laugh.:

Sooooo I'll probably start work on these in a couple of weeks. :tongue.:

TITH I, for once, started something entirely different to Space Wolves or closely-aligned Imperial in ANY way... and i loved every second of it

TITHI cut bits of the four sets of drop pod sprues and asked my two and a half year old to help me sort the chapter icons into plastic bags. She promptly informed be that bow-wows look funny, crosses and knives are ok, fists and wings are cool (clenching both fists and swinging her arms up and down respectively) and that she really dislikes the strange symbols. Okay, no smurfs for her then.

Tonight i finished to build a regular and a FW deathstorm pod and got the bits for an FW anvillus dreadclaw ready. Isn't it fun cleaning mold lines?

TITH, I played a game and started (will probably finish in a bit) a Fallen TRAITOR WEARING STOLEN DARK ANGELS HERALDRY Sorcerer. Built him from spare Khorne Berzerker and Rubric parts, as well as the sword off of a Gravis Captain.

TITH I set myself a goal:

I will no longer play with models that aren't at the least basecoated and shaded.

.... This is gonna be fun

Additionally, YITH I picked up the last XL Case at my local GW (the Apocalypse release one), along with my copy of Realmslayer: The Complete Script Book that showed up Thursday, a pair of small base brushes, and the Plague Marine Champion model for my Night Lords' Plague Marine Squad.

I think that's a great goal. It can be hard when you don't have a lot of points completed but once you get there it feels great. I've finally got about 1500 points painted between my two marine color schemes so I limit myself to playing only with those models.

It's going to be hard for me because I have a LOT of points of different armies to paint. I have Custodes, Death Guard, Night Lords, World Eaters, Khorne Daemons, Nurgle Daemons, Deathwatch, Dark Angels and Orks.

Yeaaah. I might have a problem :laugh.:

I mean, at least it's easy for me to do two of the forces I'm working on (Imperial and Chaos Knights. I can paint those models super quickly :laugh.:)

You aren't the only one, but it's okay - it gets better and we have a good support system. The first step is admitting that you have a problem, so you already have that hurdle done.

 ;)

Well TITH, I finished up the majority of some knights, another Dunecrawler stalk-russ, Drop pod #7, and a tech priest.

YITH I ended up introducing my niece to painting and playing Kill Team after I agreed to run some Tails of Equestria... she turns out to be a decent painter and has ten times more dice luck than her uncle. And thus I'm Angron-pone till further notice. -shrugs-

Were.... Were those painted by your niece? If so: Holy :cuss she's GOOD. O.o

Yeaaah..... I'm gonna have to sit down tomorrow (possibly tonight if one of my players doesn't show up for Pathfinder) to sit down and basecoat and wash my Custodes for Wednesday.

Eh, it was about half and half.  I did the busy highlighting work and skin on the tech priest while she focused on the knights.  I just helped with the decals and showing how oils and weathering powders work, but I made her do the legwork*.  (She wanted the green plasma glow... I said blue, flipped a coin, I lost.  Usually how it is).

I didn't feel too bad about letting her use the airbrush as I just got my new one and Badger 105's aren't super easy to break and the Liquitex artist inks are pretty forgiving if you mix them properly.

*It may have helped I bribed her by saying she could have the knights or sell em and keep whatever she gets... she's more of a capitalist than I am.

TITH, I got my set of 5 Plague Marines ready for Call of Chaos. I know we suck, but I'm Word Bearers right now, so I've based them in Gal Vorbak. I'm planning on putting some Ushabti Bone over the fleshy bits, then doing an all-over Carroburg Crimson wash, then Leadbelcher/Nuln Oil for the chainmail and silver bits, then seasoning to taste with pus and green.

Edit: a letter left uncapitalized because I thought it was some piece of dust on my screen like it usually is.

I modified all my Tau firewarriors' pulse rifles to be a little shorter (little longer than carbines).

Stock Tau pulse rifles are as big as they are, which looks weird and would be unwieldy in close engagements. Carbines (outside of drones) aren't ideal, but do look awesome, but I don't have enough to snip the grenade launcher and underbar off to outfit my 50 some guys.

I'm kind of backing off on making my guys blue or purple. I'm going for a more "realistic" future military approach with them, Sept will still be Enclave (gray colors for the stripes and stuff) but similar to standard Tau Sept, but with darker fabric (thinking olive green) hit them with a wash of Agrax earthshade, yellow eye lenses, red gun sights.

Suits will be bolder colors, purple and blue worked into the base tan armor (suits aren't hiding in cover, they are burning in to blast you)

Edit I think stock Tau pulse rifles are as long as they are might be a reference to Old School Japanese infantrymen armed with big long rifles (before they modernized, but I might be misremembering or off base)

TITH, I've gotten a majority of my Custodes base-coated:

Now I need to shade them and then get them all nice and pretty for their debut on Wednesday :laugh.:

They're certainly a lot brighter than mine. I went with a subdued color - Balthasar Gold with Seraphim Sepia, no highlight - but I think the bright gold suits them just as well.

That's because right now it's just straight Retributor Armour, as I haven't yet shaded them, with a daylight LED bulb from my painting lamp. So it makes them much brighter than they really are.

It's mostly because weapons on heroic scale models all are unrealistically huge. ;)

Dude I noticed that the first time I saw a Guardsman in person. The lasgun would be like one of those Bolt rifle props GW let's people get their pictures taken with, when in my imagination they should be about the size of a slightly bulkier modern assault rifle (like a SCAR maybe)

Primaris look pretty cool with First Born Bolters. I briefly considered doing a 30k army using Intecessors as a base.

Jump pack World Eaters. Heck yeah.

Then I realized how annoying that would be and decided against it.
