Yeh, the Ultramarines have been doing amazing this year. It's really good to see so many completions popping up. Shame the last few weeks of posts are lost, it was really nice looking through the completed vows.

 

On a more personal note, i've been in the mood for painting again. I've replaced the (worst) offending Sternguard with a finecast version that isn't all messy and mangled and i've made significant progress over the last few days. Aside from the new Sternguard who is just undercoated at this stage, i've got the Chaplain and four Sternguard completed and five Sternguard needing all the fiddly details painting (eyes, purity seals, gold decoration etc). I'm cautiously optimistic that I might actually finish them, as the ones that are complete look really good and are making me want to finish the rest of the squad. We'll see though, i'm not going to rush them but as long as this motivation keeps up I shouldn't have a problem completing my oath to a level i'm happy with. Might even sneak in a character as a second oath.

Glad to see the sternguard are coming along. Im looking forward to seeing them in blue.  Im thinking of adding them to my first company but its a shame the rumored plastic set isnt out yet as Id have a great time converting them (probably)

Half of my Sternguard are converted plastic. I've used parts from almost every Marine range. There is definitely Blood Angel, Space Wolf, Black Templar, Dark Angel, Legion of the Damned, Iron Hands, Grey Knight and Forgeworld stuff in there, alongside standard Marine parts and some WFB Empire. The only thing missing is any Chaos bits, which i'm surprised at as I did have a few of the more ornate and less spikey parts set aside. Guess I never got around to adding them.

Well, I'm really glad Toxic is back! I really can relate with the frustration but preseverence always brings results! Let's see them finished! thumbsup.gif

Hopefully within the next week, leaving me a weekend + a few days to do a second vow consisting of just one Marine. Now, exactly when does ETL end - is it that entries have to be in by the 15th (so 24:00 on the 14th), or do we have until the end of the 15th (so 24:00 on the 15th), or is it a certain time on the 15th, like 22:00 hours server time or something? It'd be really silly to have gone through the irritation of these Sternguard for them not to count because I missed the deadline with a second vow due to a mix up.

My second vow got deleted and all I have to finish is basing around the models and then some wash.  I should have pics up a day or two.  Dont know if you need me to revow since it looks like we lost the last couple of weeks of stuff?

@ BackSplash: No need to re-post anything - just carry on as if nothing has happened... Unfortunately the first page will not be updated but that's about it. I've got all the data so you really do not need to worry about your vows. I have registtered you recent completion (Conrats btw, these are some dark UMs there!) So now you are up to a total of 705pts - Well done!!!

You've no idea how tempted I was to write Despinis instead, given that you do wear dresses in your Chapter :p.

Nice to see more completions. Just over a week to go and so far the Ultramarines have an amazing completion rate. Lets see if we can make it even better. Courage and Honour brothers!

Backsplash, I like the sergeant with the Mk iv body, Ive a couple of those so I may end up making one of those too.

I have the solemn duty to report that I have completed my Third and FINAL vow sad.png I would have liked to attempt another, but to gamble 1800 or so points is unwise at best.

Well Done Aquilanus!  I do not blame you for not wanting to risk 1800 pts.  I thought about another vow myself, but do not have anything I really feel in the mood to paint right now and I have some old Drop pods that need to be washed and touched up with the hazard stripes to work on instead.  I am also hesitant to put any models together prior to the new codex dropping.  All in all well done brother.

I had planned on doing a ten man Sterguard unit, but the bitz company I used had only five Marine legs (of any type) in stock when I ordered. Typically, they have more in, but I've got bills going out from now until pay day (last Friday of the month dry.png ). I could have just done a five man unit, but I'd prefer to do the ten Marine unit in one go. I've also had a hankering to start another army lately, so those parts are now going to be used for that. I'm just in the middle of tallying up the points cost for my Rainbow Warriors army. I will go back to them at some point as I still want the entire Fourth Company, but painting so much blue lately has made me want to change colour, Codex and pace! laugh.png

Edit: My army has a value of 2115 points! (okay it has FOUR HQ's but still laugh.png )
