Here's some pictures of my current progress, with close ups of each guy for Rich.

The blue tone is off in a few places due to the lighting setup (I swear my camera decides to use it's flash when it wants despite what I tell it to do) and my lack of skill with GIMP.

Sternguard Sergeant. From the front, standard mini but i've added a more ornate backpack that has been appropriately Ultrafied.

Standard Sternguard with bolter. Nothing special going on here so I didn't bother with a picture of his back.

Well, I'll have to apologize to fellow UM players... Although I had intended to get this army started and had assembled most of the stuff I had vowed to paint, I never got around to it; there were unexpected delays getting a FW order in, and I then eventually got sidetracked by 30k when news of the upcoming C:SM started trickling in, so have been contemplating two arm-less squads that are still lacking paint for a month now and have lost any inkling of motivation to paint them I might have had at first...

 

Once again, sorry brothers for this lack of dedication for the XIIIth.

What a model for your next vow. The classic Sicarius is entering the fray, how apt.

 

I tried hunting that model down for my Shrike counts as. Its a real beautee. Probably a bit fancy for a raptor but MOHAWK!

 

I digress. Well done brother. Redemption!

Yeh, he's an awesome model. Painting him is my reward for finishing my vow - i've had him for about 6 years now. The only issue is which company is he going to command. With Sicarius having a model and the Masters of the Chapter models existing, the space for Captaincy of an Ultramarine Company is pretty slim.

Ha! Well if you post late tonight while drinking your redbull and painting I'll be on completing a captain of the same point cost over at Index Astartes (drinking Full Throttle and coffee when that runs out). :D

Don't worry. I'm pretty sensitive to caffeine and don't drink coffee ever (or any caffeinated drink regularly) so I can't have too much, otherwise i'll start bouncing about and climbing the walls. I don't want to think what kind of speed painted monstrosity i'd produce if that happened tongue.png.

And if you look on the second pic, pointing Marine is actually pointing Marine #2 - his predecessor went into the warp-bin and never came back. That's what you get for having mold slips on my watch! verymad.gif

Squad Furia of the Ultramarines first division faced down their foe knowing full well that failure was not an option. In this mission time was their ultimate enemy and it was the 11th hour. 

With the enemy approaching the squad prepared themselves for a glorious end to a previously successful campaign

Suddenly the vox squawked into life.......

 

++Reinforcements inbound.... Hold Position++ 

 

The Stormraven skimmed the landscape as it headed towards the pinned down squad. Engines screaming in full reverse the aircraft slowed as it approached the squads position. 

Above the squad a thunderous cracking noise signified the release of multiple clamps all disengaging at once. 

The dark shape fell and  the earth shook as it struck the ground. the dust cloud kicked up from the impact obliterating the light from the twin suns.

 

As the the dust settled the servo gears in the legs of Dreadnought Chaplain Acrisius powered the machine to its full height and it strode forward towards the squad. As it did the speaker crackled into life and its monotone voice boomed out over the tanoy

Its done.... Vow two complete. Im going to add a bit more battle damage and probably redo the claw as I want to show an energy field to match the colours of the plasma weapon. 

 

Heres a full Vow shot with the first set and also a sneaky MkIII that I managed to complete mid vow (not that the points count on that one)

I have failed the XIII Legion.

I'm afraid I am going to have to bow out. I still need to do at least two hours work, probably 3-4 if I don't rush it, to be finished, and there's just over an hour left now. 

 

When it is available, I shall wear the Badge of Shame. Not gladly, but it is punishment that I deserve.

All things considered it's a wise descision Ramell. Do not mess up the minis. Wear the Badge of the Oath Breaker and be ready to fight another day!
