Lib's back

Liberame

Recommended Posts

So I just made a huge vow for the ETL II to kick my butt into gear and whip out my paintbrush. I have a seriously bad habit of buying things and then never doing anything with it. Last time I did a vow (black templars) was many years ago but it compelled me to finish something, so why not be grandiose?

This is my vow

I Liberame answer the call of E TENEBRAE LUX and vow to complete

3x 6man Ravenwing Attack Squadron w2 Meltaguns and Multi Melta Attack Bike

2x 3man Ravenwing Attack Squadron w/2 Meltaguns and Multi Melta Attack Bike

1x 3man Ravenwing Attack Squadron w/ Multi Melta Attack Bike

1x 5man Ravenwing Command Squad w/ Champion, Apothecary, Standard of Devastation

Sammael

Librarian on space marine bike w/ Auspex and Power Field Generator

Interrogator Chaplain on space marine bike w/ Mace of Redemption

from Codex: Dark Angels of total value 1933 on or before August 15th. Success will bring eternal glory to 1st Legion and failure will doom me to bear the Badge of Shame until the year-end

And this is just the beginning.

3 months is a long time...

Well I finished the grey lining on 6 of my bikes and I came to the realization that I no longer have the fine motor control to paint the eyes of the bikers without messing up the grey highlights... so gonna paint all the eyes first. I'm also not sure if I want to do 2 highlights or just stick with the single german grey for simplicity sake.

Not sure how complex on the eyes I want to go..

Who likes updates? You like updates!

The apothecary and front plates are being painted now. Afterwards I just need to do some minor detail work

That will be a great force once you are all done - carry on the good work.

Although I think a trip to Cell 42 may be in order as I noticed some Xenos frisbees and an XV88 in one of your photos (post 4) ;)

Perfect for basing >.>

Finished the 9 "sgt" models for my ETL short of doing an ink wash later

That's a lot of bald heads :) to wash all at once - don't think anyone's taken to the factory painting approach to the scale that you are ... looking good though.

Thanks, I'm currently working on the HQ section of my vow, only the silver and white/feather parts are getting washed. The skin is actually done, just cant see cause I have a crappy phone and suck at takin pictures.

update, but no pictures this time sorry.

Command squad/chaplain/librarian are essentially done, just need an oil wash when I do the rest of the army. However I'm not going to paint the plasma talons until after the oil wash since I'll do it via airbrush.

I would like some opinions from others though, I am thinking of airbrushing the headlight beams similar to how the guy from den of imagination http://www.denofimagination.com.pl/2013/03/ravenwing-bikes.html

Not sure if I totally like the effect, it would add an element to the bikes but I'm afraid it would be easy to mess up and ruin the bikes. And since I have like 40 of them... the chance of messing up at least once is high.

noooooo, avoid it smile.png

to keep it short, it can look goods but it depend on what people likes.

So do you really like this effect ?

If so, first practice it on some bits, otherwise it won't look good, and you might end up disapointed.

imho, i'm not a huge fan of "big osl beam"

Eggroll on warseer/Dakka made a more subbtle osl wich imho looks better:

I planned on using eggrolls style for my plasma talons and you're right, I don't really like the effect enough to warrant doing it on all my bikers. I'll probably just do a small dot of light blue on the headlight itself at the most.

Liberame, they look great and that is a horde of bikers to get done in that short a time! They have smooth, clear colors, and I really like your Librarian and Chaplain conversions, even the Force Bat. :D I do think that you need to hit all that metal with a wash to give some depth to all of it, but the highlighting you have done looks awesome, very clean! Well done!

Yep I concur on the Chappy and Libby models - very nice indeed.  Can we see a bit more of the RW standard bearer too please - he's being a bit shy there in the corner of the box (unless I've missed a previous pic of him).

Cheers

I

Vow complete! I finished all the washing and touching up. I didnt do the plasma glow after all as I couldn't get it to look right and was tired of fixing my mistakes.
