SW1's +++E Tenebrae Lux II - 2013+++ Vows

SW1

Recommended Posts

A bunch of pads have been done and have come out pretty well.

Going to try the same process on the metal arms that come with the new style Plasma Cannons. Hopefully They'll work just as well and I'll add 2 units of 6 Long Fangs armed with 5 Plasma Cannons each to the growing list of models to be done. devil.gif

- 6 Long Fangs with 5 Plasma Cannons, Plasma Pistol, Power Weapon ... 220 points

Will double check the points in the morning, build the Long Fangs and then officially make the vow. If the Long Fangs don't go together quickly (a mate said the metal plasma cannons are a paint to glue) then I may swap them out.

The metal plasma cannons are indeed are right bugger :( nicked a couple of my dad in time past and ended up either using tons of super glue or using GS after gluing to hold it all together :(

As for Points - Priests are fine, Scouts are 120 not 105, Wolf Guard are fine, Lukas is fine and Long Fangs are fine. :) all in all you've docked yourself 30pts total should be 2165 Points :)

Good luck mate :D

These Plasma Cannons are proving to be a pain in the backside and I'm running out of superglue.  Rather than faff   I've double checked the points and the scouts are correct a plasma pistol is the same points as a scout so it's the same points as 7 scouts.  I'm also building loads of Grey Hunters and Blood Claws (needing to source more pads to finish them off).

So my 3rd Vow will be:

- Wolf Priest with Jump Pack, Runic Armour, Plasma Pistol, Wolf Tail Talisman, Wolf Tooth Necklace, Melta Bombs ... 180 points
- Rune Priest with Jump Pack, Runic Armour, Wolf Tail Talisman, Wolf Tooth Necklace, Melta Bombs, Chooser of the Slain ... 175 points
- Iron Priest with 2 Cyberwolves, Wolf Tail Talisman, Wolf Tooth Necklace ... 95 points
- Iron Priest, Wolf Tail Talisman, Wolf Tooth Necklace ... 65 points
- 5 Scouts with 2 Plasma Pistols ... 105 points
- 5 Scouts with 2 Plasma Pistols ... 105 points
- 5 Wolf Guard with 5 Jump Packs, 5 pairs Wolf Claws ... 365 points
- 5 Wolf Guard with 5 Jump Packs, 5 Thunder Hammers, 5 Storm Shields ... 465 points
- Lukas ... 155 points

This gives me 1,710 points to do and here's the starting pics:

4:45am this morning I realised it was daft a o'clock in the morning and stopped painting.  I'd managed to:

Finish off a test Scout:

And the other 9 are not far off being finished as well:

I've done quite a bit with the other models as well.

The 2 Cyberwolves have been finished and glued onto the bases and the Iron Priest to go with them is coming along nicely.  This afternoon I'm going to concentrate on completing this Iron Priest and the other 9 Scouts.

The other Iron Priest, Lukas, Rune Priest, WG with claws have all been base coated washed and had any bare flesh blocked in.  Now I've finally got some more super glue this morning I can glue the pads with the pack markings on to the TH/SS WG.  I want to get the TH/SS WG to the same point as the rest of the models as well so I'll keep jumping from them to the scouts.

Wonder how quick I can paint this lot up?

Next up will be hopefully be those Plasma Cannon Long Fang, plus Blood Claws, Skyclaws, Grey Hunters and more Wolf Guard.

Lol ... I'll not get ahead of myself though, 1 pledge at a time.

The Scouts have been painted, just need to glue them to the bases to finish them off, added to the 2 Cyberwolves that's 12 out of 27 models completed.

I've also got the Wolf Priest and first Iron Priest very close to completion. So I'm expecting them to be completed by early this afternoon. The rest are well on the way and I should have them completed tonight or tomorrow morning. I aim to have the lot definitely completed before the next points update Wednesday evening.

I'm only going to have 2 vows left and as of Wednesday there will be a further 5 weeks and 1 day left of the challenge. So the challenge will now be judging how much I can complete and not getting the figure out by too much. If I can get 20 - 30 models a week done the figure could be anywhere between 100 and 150 models. huh.png

Didn't quite finish the pledge by Wednesday but now very close to finishing. wallbash.gif

I've got 12 Jump Packs, 2 Iron Priest back Packs, 1 Wolf Back Pack and the last few details on the main bodies of 7 models to finish off. Then it'll be time to get the models glued up and onto the resin bases I've already painted. As long as no RL emergencies happen I should have this sorted tomorrow. ermm.gif

I'm going to give myself until the weekend to assemble as much stuff as possible and then it'll be time for my 4th Vow. Really want to get those Plasma Cannons successfully assembled this time around, GS some more Wulfen and I also need to cast up some more bases so it'll be a nice break from painting. I also think that the Smurfs 5th Company will be losing all their Assault Troops as they are getting reassigned as Skyclaws. ph34r.png

Think its time to hit the sack,

Cheers RB 92 - They'll look even better when I get a pick of all of them finished and based later.

I originally planned to get some hobby time in earlier but that didn't happen.  So I'm gonna see if I can get this vow finished before I crash out tonight.

Urgh ... Didn't have the best hobby evening as the back was playing up again. Here's the finished bits of the pledge ...

My favourite finished unit entry (he looks bad ass IMO) and the bases work between the different parts:

http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee214/SW1-SWC/WH40K/Space%20Wolves%20-%202013%20ETL%20II/110720132770_zps21eed9db.jpg

Then we have the 2 scouts packs which I'm happy with the contrast the red weapons give (the bases are slightly different with each of the 2 units):

http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee214/SW1-SWC/WH40K/Space%20Wolves%20-%202013%20ETL%20II/110720132771_zpsc305798b.jpg

http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee214/SW1-SWC/WH40K/Space%20Wolves%20-%202013%20ETL%20II/120720132777_zpsa69458be.jpg
The Wolf Priest who didn't want to be glued to the jump pack:
http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee214/SW1-SWC/WH40K/Space%20Wolves%20-%202013%20ETL%20II/110720132772_zps90b7f695.jpg
The we have the models needing a bit of work on them still ...
The 2nd Iron Priest just needs the back pack finishing off and the red bits finishing, then he'll be done:
http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee214/SW1-SWC/WH40K/Space%20Wolves%20-%202013%20ETL%20II/120720132780_zps2cc8ea13.jpg
Lukas (my conversion/counts as) just needs a wolf back pack locating for him as his it seems to have gone AWOL sad.png :
http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee214/SW1-SWC/WH40K/Space%20Wolves%20-%202013%20ETL%20II/120720132778_zps3a2f68c6.jpg
Wolf Guard with pairs of Wolf Claws just needs jump packs (except for the central one) then they'll be done:
http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee214/SW1-SWC/WH40K/Space%20Wolves%20-%202013%20ETL%20II/120720132774_zps88e4604d.jpg
Wolf Guard with Thunder Hammers and Storm Shields need heads and jump packs then they'll be done:
http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee214/SW1-SWC/WH40K/Space%20Wolves%20-%202013%20ETL%20II/120720132776_zps3d59bf1d.jpg
The Rune Priest still needs a fair bit of work doing on it:
http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee214/SW1-SWC/WH40K/Space%20Wolves%20-%202013%20ETL%20II/120720132781_zpsdeb1b2d5.jpg
And finally the jump packs in WIP, need a good wash with black and then blocking back in:
http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee214/SW1-SWC/WH40K/Space%20Wolves%20-%202013%20ETL%20II/120720132782_zps4c58866a.jpg
So overall a lot has been done. I've realised even though it's boring and you don't get to have bit's finished a bit earlier if I'm going to do a mega vow next of 100+ models then I will need to stick to the batch painting process. So assemble everything and then do the following on everything:
- slap on the grey
- neatly black in the metal
- block in all the fur needing a black wash
- black wash
- block in all fur needing brown wash
- block in all flesh
- block in all red
- block in yellow areas with yellow/brown
- brown wash
This last lot I've spent too long waiting for different bits that I've washed drying. Yes the same coloured wash repeatedly on the same models. wallbash.gif

  • 4 weeks later...

I'm going through black wash at a surprising rate with the number of bases and models I've been working on.

The main issue I'm having with these models is that I didn't bother stripping some of the assault marines and the additional layers of paint are making painting a little harder.  Lesson learned and from now on no model will be painted unless they are fully stripped.  That being said once the 22 assault marines are done I should be able to blast through the other models really quickly.

Right wife's gone to bed and the lads are tucked up tight ... Think it's time to make a dent in the painting back log other wise known as my 4th Vow. Wish me luck as I've got 45 models to do in 8 and a half days. pinch.gif

Really need to get some pic's taken soon.

I've got finished:

 - 10 Scouts

 - 1 LF

The following are finished for now, just need jump packs and back packs doing which I'll do on mass at the end:

 - 2 BC's need back packs painting/gluing

 - 8 Skyclaws just need jump packs painting/gluing

Close to finishing:

 - 4 LF ... Just need the power cables painting

 - 1 Iron Priest ... Just needs back pack and thunder hammer doing

So a matter of a few minutes work needed to finish this batch off.  Next up will be the final lot of GS'ing pads up for the BC's and a few more of the Skyclaws.  While they're curing I'll block in the metal on the Skyclaws already undercoated.  Running out of time so time management will need to be spot on.

Lol ... The wife demanded I stay up until I get a good chunk of the work I've got left on these models done. The most time consuming/annoying job left was GS'ing the pad emblems on the 20ish models and this has now been completed.

I had meant to have all the GS'ing already finished a long while ago but I couldn't get into it, but thankfully it's now out of the way. Everything that is not already grey will be in the morning ... It's time to blast through these models at a much faster rate!!! ph34r.png

Time for a kip.

I'm using instant mould for these pads which works out pretty well just time consuming.  For the rest of the army I'll be casting up pads in resin as I'm not GS'ing pads for another 80+ models.

Hmmm ... Well the 13th involved physio and a day out with the family so no painting happened.  I did mean to get stuff done last night but I over did it during the day and needed serious pain relief which combined with being tired meant I went to sleep.

This morning started at 7:00 am with the painting, having to take regular breaks but it's worked out ok.  I've now got to the point where I need to apply washes to everything.  So I'm going to get slap happy with the big brush and then set everything aside to dry.  Managed to get out of going shopping with the wife!!!  So once the washes are done and the models are drying, I can sort out the back packs which I've just realised still need starting.

So I'm guessing that I'll be finished in time as long as I don't get any further delays.

After 19 ish hours painting I think it's time for some sleep.  Not sure if I will complete the final vow or not, it's going to be close either way.

Aim to be back in the painting mode in 6 hours time.

Ok ... Just to give you an idea of the speed I need to work at finishing these ... The 11 at the front need the weapons/pads red finishing off. Then all need to have the grey gone over and the yellow sorting.

O ... And the pads need sorting as well. woot.gif

Just having a brew break and then time to get my ph34r.png on.

Edit: Might help if I included the pic -

http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee214/SW1-SWC/WH40K/Space%20Wolves%20-%202013%20ETL%20II/150820132851_zps6a621ae2.jpg

I also forgot I need to do the black on the Wolf pads as well.

Doh ... There's 2 power weapons in there as well. Maybe I'll cut the brew break short ... Onwards and sideways!!!
