Brother-Chaplain Kage
I wish the sheet plastic photographed better because you can barely make out any detail on the gun on his hip or the spiked shoulder pad.
Mechanist
Try a lighter colour background it'll help with exposure balance. Looking great so far, coming along nicely, I'll bet the cloak will really set the tone for the model and change it quite a bit.

Lexington
Aside from the boots, which I have worked in preparation for sculpting, all that's left to do now is the cloak. http://i.imgur.com/FoG2Tyu.png I love this fig for a hundred reasons, but the fact that his pistol is holstered for a proper cross-torso draw from his non-PF hand really stands out to me. It's the little things. Great job as always, BCK. Brother-Chaplain Kage 1 Back to top

Orly? http://i.imgur.com/oK4xVKF.png Wouldja look at that. Now you can tell that it's a revolver and everything. Lexington
I'd like to claim credit for that but it's in the art that way.Eh, yeah, but it's transferred well. This guy is pretty clearly yours, and not just a transfer of the art - the choices you're making are really getting at the essence of what makes the art work, including the pistol, which is adding some nice dimensionally to it on top of the detail of how it's holstered. ie. I will make compliments of your miniature sculpting and you will Like Them. :p Brother-Chaplain Kage 1 Back to top
Mechanist
Wouldja look at that. Now you can tell that it's a revolver and everything. Yup, had the same problem on the Hips of my knight with the dino bones, massive over exposure thanks to black table. Better though not perfect when I used a piece of grey card as a backdrop. It's tricky taking picture with bright white elements on dark grey plastic. Looking good though and some nice touches with the plasti card details. Brother-Chaplain Kage
So I started working on the hood and ragged cloak thing today - using my tissue and glue technique - and the hood has been extremely troublesome. I've been working on this off and on all day and I've re-made the hood at least four times. I did one before on my Exodus figure that I don't recall being so troublesome, but I finally got one that was somewhat cooperative. Knowing that the black background in my pics was throwing off the color balance of the sheet plastic, I thought it might be doing the same for tissue bits that have previously been very difficult to photograph... and it was. http://i.imgur.com/EX2yQRI.png I'm nowhere near finished with this, but I was quite excited at how it finally started to turn out and wanted to share the pic. dogfender
Well it is never settling with your work that can allow you to fine tune it the way you want. It's what elevates your work. I've recently had my fare share of resculpting things over and over, it is always worth it. Keep up the good work Brother-Chaplain Kage 1 Back to top
Flint13
Damn dude. That cloak and hood are going to look cool as hell when he's all painted and morbid. Brother-Chaplain Kage 1 Back to top

I'm actually pretty offended that you waited to do this until after I posted about a "favorite" element of this model. It was extremely rude and makes me look foolish, a slight that I will remember. Srs, though, geez Louise. The motion and mystery you're capturing with that cloak is just something else, man. You keep exceeding the last awesome thing you did, like some mad Olympian whose sole focus and routine is making cool 40K stuff.

Dantay VI
I found that paper towels like those in the dispenser in the toilets at work give a nice texture and being slightly thicker do not shred so easily when played about with. Also allows you to make the water/glue mixture a bit more runny allowing for more time to play about with it. Downside is a longer drying time. Looking great though. Daemon2027
looking good. I wonder if the hood needs more thickness, not sure if you can layer up a little bit.
Pyroclast91
Damn you make it hard for me to stay on a project I always come up with way more ideas than I have time for whenever I see what your working on. Brother-Chaplain Kage
I live! About a month ago, a friend and I went in together on a Blood Bowl box and I've been doing some conversion craziness that I cannot show here, sadly. However, you can see a thread here. If you'd like to comment on it, please do it at the other site and not here where such talk is forbidden. I did make a resolution to get more stuff done - and by that I mean not just built, but painted - and I'm considering entering Loyalty & Treachery to help with the motivation and focusing on a deadline. I had wanted to get to my second Macharius, but I'm currently unable to find a few crucial parts. Instead I'm going to see about a Dusk Raiders proper trio instead of including one of their allies. #1 is this guy who really needs to get painted. http://i.imgur.com/L6WAB36.png #2, that I need to finish up before I can get to painting. http://i.imgur.com/Le1ZS5a.png And #3 will by my extensively modified Sicaran Venator. Yesterday I started filling in the huge gaps where the track sections meet the main body in a similar fashion to my first Macharius: http://i.imgur.com/R6WuiQb.png Green stuff was put on the track section and the connection points on the main body liberally coated with oil. A hobby vice held everything tight while I scraped away any excess GS that was squeezed out, and about an hour later the vice was removed and the track sections pulled away from the body to let the GS cure. It needs a little more work to get the gap situation where I want it, but progress is being made. lionofjudah
Can u post a pic of your hobby vice BCK?? Stoked to see you back in the 30000's once again:) Can we get a closeup of the detailing on the contemptor a left knee pad? Looks like bisected line with rays Assault cannon seems pretty long... perhaps a shroud of some sort between the main body housing and support ring to beef it up aesthetically? Excited to see them painted Brother-Chaplain Kage 1 Back to top

Excited to see them painted I phrased it wrong because it's more of a clamp than a vice, but I'll see if I can get a pic of it later when I get back home. Here's some shots of the decorations on the Contemptor. http://i.imgur.com/C0EJ6Rn.png The left knee is campaign badge for Oxitania; the upper side will be black for the loss of his entire company and the lower side is a setting sun. An imperial laurel for bravery on the right knee. http://i.imgur.com/zZJVGl4.png Right lower leg has his Company Champion icon and the left has the Terran Unification War icon. The length of the assault cannon gets mentioned frequently, but I intended for it to be that way because real ones are.
