Firepower
I'm still not sold on the mask. It seems stuck at an unpleasant spot between two different styles- Raptor sleek and Predator mask. If you're really going for the predator look, I would flatten the top a bit to give it a broader look. The opposite choice of a sleek and pointy raptor aesthetic won't really fit the blunt, wide front of the mask very well. Coming to a perfectly rounded end in the back seems a bit weird, too. Greyall
Agree with Firepower here, flatten the top and maybe extend the back. I'm assuming you're yet to do the front grill, right? Greyall
I meant extend, mate, beyond the back of the head. actually, if you do that, it might not need any flattening. I wasn'ttalking from a yautja POV, but from a Raptor's.Good luck on that, however you choose to do it Firepower 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/278032-bcks-thread-of-stuff-super-heavy/page/12/#findComment-3448051 Share on other sites
Brother-Chaplain Kage
I like where this is going a lot Thanks. I hope I can get this close to what I'm seeing in my head. I meant extend, mate, beyond the back of the head. actually, if you do that, it might not need any flattening. I wasn't talking from a yautja POV, but from a Raptor's.Good luck on that, however you choose to do it Ah, that makes more sense. I have another update with the Raptor legs that comes a little closer to what I have in mind: http://i.imgur.com/1zIftW7.jpg Without pinning him to something, it's still not the angle I'm going for - he'll be damn near horizontal. Brother-Chaplain Kage
Naw, that BA chest is out. It didn't fit the idea but might make another appearance on a different figure in the future. What you see here is the exact same thing I did when I started building Maestoros but I never got a picture of it in this very early phase without greenstuff on it. The piece of plastic tubing makes it very easy to elongate the abdomen as part of the BCK Scaled™ process. GrandMagnus
Maybe something scaly, sharp. I could imagine three large plates laid on to of eachother, each one ending in a sharp scale/blade kind of edge. Just an idea... Biohazard
Have you seen the armours from the Predator Concrete Jungle Xbox game. There was a properly spiky brutal looking suit of armour as well as fairly sleek high tech looking one. They could be good for reference? I'm really curious to see how you're going to tackle the torso. Great work as always mate. I'm really curious to see how you're going to tackle the torso. Great work as always mate. I'll see what I can from the Concrete Jungle game, but honestly, I think I'm losing steam on the Predator idea. In other news, as I recently announced in Jasp's Battle For Humanity thread, I will be trying to do a Pre-Heresy army of the V Legion. As always, I look to art and other modelers to get some inspiration and direction, and here's some of the stuff I found: First was the standard marine template pic: http://i.imgur.com/JuVVP7U.jpg?1 Some artwork: http://i.imgur.com/lXYiywK.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/fONUVVT.jpg?1 Some models, first by Aventine: http://i.imgur.com/9ninxMg.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/2Sd4KaI.jpg?1 And James Wappell: http://i.imgur.com/FTKmxeJ.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/5OgIeA5.jpg My White Scars won't be nearly as shiny as Wappell's, but man, do they look nice! Since I currently have nothing in the way of Pre-Heresy armor marks to work with, I wanted to try something out in the modeling department, and remembered that one of the Masters of the Chapter is wearing modified MK III, so out came the knives, files, and greenstuff. http://i.imgur.com/FilUwfH.jpg The lightning bolt icon on the chest looked a lot better before I saw it in the photographs. But, in my defense, it was a real PITA to sculpt that in-between the wings. And I just now noticed the facial hair makes him look an awful lot like a power armored Vladimir Lenin... Brother-Chaplain Kage
I still have some more stuff to add, like a topknot and some blades before I get to painting. I have 3 of these figures because of bad finecasting and the right hand with the sword is a mess. The sword is completely mangled, but I was going to make a curved sword for him anyway.
