Firedrake Cordova
Really nice greenstuff work there One minor critique, if I may - the head doesn't quite look right - I think the neck might want to do with being a little shorter? Dr_Ruminahui
That belt buckle is amazing - I'm assuming you used a mold, but its still super crisp. Brother-Chaplain Kage
Black primer coat and then a nice white top coat to have a good backdrop for the other colors in the paint scheme. Which I still need to come up with. Won't go into details but work's been awful all week and then the airbrush was giving me trouble for hours and I'm surprised I got a result this clean. lokkorex, Grotsmasha, phandaal and 3 others 6 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/278032-bcks-thread-of-stuff-super-heavy/page/197/#findComment-6049986 Share on other sites
Firedrake Cordova
Urgh, that sounds frustrating! Brother-Chaplain Kage
The idea for the Scorpion paint scheme: A few little masking issues I need to clean up, but I like it. phandaal, Grotsmasha, Elzender and 6 others 5 4 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/278032-bcks-thread-of-stuff-super-heavy/page/197/#findComment-6050675 Share on other sites
DuskRaider
Looking great, BCK! Is that a homebrew Craftworld? Loving the scheme. Dr_Ruminahui
I like it - it works really well with the model. Only thing I would change would be to make the green "pointy" rather than rounded where it ends on the front projections. As well, what colour do you intend to do the bit of circle (currently black/grey) under the front of the turret? If you don't have a particular colour in mind, I would do that green as well. I agree about the rounded area not working. To be honest, as much as I like the paint scheme it's become a real pain in the ass to paint. I love the Eldritch (teal) color from P3 but with The Warmachine IP and the P3 paint range being sold off, I don't know how much longer it may be available, and even so I have trouble getting a consistent shade and highlight with it even when measuring drops of paint for the proportions of my original trial recipe. Probably going to strip the body of the Scorpion and might substitute a different color for the teal. Pearson73
Oof, that's looking gorgeous! The choice of metal colour for the guns really complements the teal. I agree that changing the way the green cuts off could be good, perhaps some tendrils reaching out into the black? That said, you maintain a much sharper cut off on the other tanks, right? I'm crossing my fingers that the supply of paint isn't cut off because it's such a nice colour. Brother-Chaplain Kage
Last night I discovered one of the FLGS near me, who I frequent because they're the only ones relatively nearby (40 mile round trip) that stock Vallejo, are not only stocking Pro Acryl now, but they have all of the Signature Series paints individually! I grabbed Green Oxide from the Ben Komets set, Dark Jade from the Vincey V set, Dark Bronze from the Matt Cexwish set, and then Magnesium, Dark Neutral Grey, and Bold Titanium White from the normal range. All but the metallics are directly going into another attempt to lock down a consistent scheme for these superheavies and any future Blades of Vaul models. Will do some tests and would like to get a new paint job on the Scorpion up in a day or two.
