ephrael
Dude.... Ultramarine I say no to him being a WE as he has a power sword :D He's actually one of Malcador the Sigilite's marines now but he was a World Eater in that picture. GhostMalone
I know I just disown his loyalist ass! Brother-Chaplain Kage
No idea who you guys are talking about. Since I wasn't sure how to proceed on the next step of the helmet, (and I did post that pic earlier in the thread Jasp, but thanks anyhow) I decided to have a go at some icons on shoulder pads. http://i.imgur.com/fuaodGN.jpg On the right is my first attempt at a 30k Dark Angels pad, and instead of sword, I wanted to have the Roman numeral 1 between the wings. After doing the lightning bolt, the brownstuff was already heading towards the end of the working time, and the by the time I got the first wing done and started on the I, it was getting spongy. Ah well, that will be easily redone tomorrow. ephrael 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/278032-bcks-thread-of-stuff-super-heavy/page/24/#findComment-3480230 Share on other sites

I need to do that tomorrow BCK, try to remind my forgetful self if you would. I replied to your email as well which is probably redundant as well. The picture that Jaspcat and I are quibbling over is from one of the BL audio dramas which features a loyalist WE and some White Scars and Emperor's Children among others. I wont get into too many spoilers but the WE ends up joining the Grey Armored marines under the allegiance of Malcador the Sigilite. I'll leave it at that. Brother-Chaplain Kage
Damn it sorry brother didn't realise :/ But the lightning bolt looks good are you going to be making fancy full ones? Full fancy ones? You mean with bling, like laurel wreaths, purity seals, etc? I dunno. Since I think the MK III shoulder pad is the greatest of all time, I'd be happy to make several variants to get cast. Though, doing something like the FW shoulder pad packs(and it's going to be something like 2 years before V Legion gets any of their own) might not be a bad idea. The shoulder pads look really good which reminds me that I forgot to order the ProCreate putty the other day. I need to do that tomorrow BCK, try to remind my forgetful self if you would. I figured I should get some practice on DA icons, since you want one on the shin of that commission. Speaking of which, I've seen a HH era version of their icon that looks different - much thinner lines on the wings and such. Do you have a preference? Brother-Chaplain Kage
I'm gonna try my best to make up for all the other armies I failed on with the Scars. Since it'll be a little while before I order any more resin(I done spunt my allowance for the time being), I want to get the detail stuff ironed out and get my custom helmets and shoulder pads and whatnot out of the way. Brother-Chaplain Kage
Yeah I feel you brother, I'm going to work on my characters for my new project, 3 characters per legion. Going to try learn to GS like you It's important that you realize from the start, that for a while, you're going to suck at it. I've worked with a lot of media over the years, from oil, acrylic, and water paints to airbrushes, pastels, colored pencils(the real kind, not the ones you use in elementary school), etc, and they all have a learning curve and greenstuff has one of the worst I've ever worked with. Look up tutorials on using it, watch what videos about it are out there, and like I said, be prepared to be unhappy with your work at first. But you have to keep looking ahead and practicing, knowing that, in time, you'll get where you want to be with it. Hell, I'm still not at that point, and knowing my internal critic as well as I do, I probably never will be. Brother-Chaplain Kage
I'm trying to remember the things I hated about GS when I first started working with it so when I do some kind of tutorial, I can cover those things, but it's been a while and the memories of those early days are hazy. Keep the tools lubricated, get some clayshapers(omg, amazing), work in layers, work on one area and let it cure before doing something else... And back on the Scars for moment, I just finished reading Scars: Episode VII earlier today, and this line on the first page really caught my attention: Maybe in the future. He would need many more kill-marks on his ritual sash first, and the scars that went with them. Maybe some kind of sash around the waist for the V Legion, like the Cowboys in the Tombstone movie? http://i.imgur.com/Yljoch4.jpg?1 Might be something else to pimp out my Scars with, as you said. GhostMalone
I like it, sort of like the WE with their scarafacation rituals. Maybe there can be some brands aswell. Sash idea is great though. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/278032-bcks-thread-of-stuff-super-heavy/page/24/#findComment-3480297 Share on other sites
Firepower
'I am Kos'Sarro Khan, and I am your huckleberry!' Sashes around the waist, sashes on arms/pauldrons, maybe... Scarlet sashes are just plain cool. http://www.justpushstart.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/2871560_8272.jpg Ok, so that's technically a scarf. But you get the idea. If it's cool enough for ninjas, it's cool enough for anybody. Just so long as you don't go boyscout bandolier on it. Brother-Chaplain Kage
AoV? I forgot I don't have the link in my signature anymore. GhostMalone
I know :( seriously I'm just so so exhausted trying to find someone building a heresy list. And I'm starting to drift from my set lists I need to build I'm getting distracted by all the new models being released and I'm practicing my GS skills still trying to get it right. I've spent all day searching for AL inspiration and other than one commission army on dakka dakka I've found nothing of use. Brother-Chaplain Kage
This sudden fascination with the blue-green AL paint scheme... bleh. I've only seen one picture of it where it looked decent and from the recipe you posted, it seems like way too much work for the end result.
