Ooooh, pretty.

Can't wait to see what you do with these Kage. Out of all the specialized terminators, these are probably my favorite.

Mine too, hands down.

The Warlords of Dusk, the finest legion of them all.

I love both Dusk Raiders and Grave Wardens, so I'll be watching closely.

I did say a while back that I almost went Death Guard before deciding on the Crimson Sons and I'd do a small allied force, so it's time to make good on that.

Great paintwork so far. Will you be using the standard heads?

Yes. They're being painted on the sprue right now.

Awesome work brother

Thanks! I just wish I could the red paint to come out the right color in the photos.

I got most of the bronze put down and started the first stages of some weathering on it to knock that shine down a few notches. I dunno if I just got tired of doing gold shades, or if I just imagine the Horus Heresy in more muted tones than 40k, but I've using the bronze color quite a bit lately, and I really like it.

Despite the camera focus not wanting to cooperate with me tonight, I did manage to finagle the lights into giving me a much better representation of both the red color and the tonal variations in the greys.

A word of caution to anyone buying some Grave Wardens in the future - beyond what I had in my previous post about the legs and torsos not fitting together real well - be VERY careful when handling these guys because their Death Cloud dispensers on top of the armor are extremely fragile. A misplaced thumb and just a small amount of pressure while assembling this chem trooper, and snap, there goes one of the dispensers.

We're just going to call that battle damage, though.

Yeah. That's what we're gonna do.

Battle damage it is.

Scared of resin I am too.

Looking good indeed

Haiku infiltrates

the thread of BCK's work

Words are true though

lol, thanks guys

Looks really good.

Glad to hear a fan of the Dusk Raiders saying that. :)

Ah, this guy only gets prettier as you go.

What colors are you thinking for the furs and whatnots?

Grey is the new black, right? Maybe for the Terran Unification Wars, anyway. Oh, and those are chains, not furs, hanging with the off-white cloth. I was probably gonna paint them bronze to stick with my limited palette of colors.

Fantastic stuff. Loving the Dusk Raiders and that bloody/pale blue scheme for the Crimson Sons is just mindblowing.

Thanks! I can't wait to get back to painting some more Crimson Sons. I've got some resin inbound and I want to get a bunch of them all base coated at the same time with my airbrush.

I like the Dusk Raiders so far, the Grave Wardens are really nice models. I do want to see more Crimsons Sons though, they are really inspiring me on the Terran Raven Guard front!

Glad to hear they're an inspiration, and don't fret, more will be coming soon over the next few months as I slowly gather my force.

So, my new job has long hours, but there can be long periods of down time and we're allowed to read in those times, if we so choose. Well, I choose, and have already re-read the Ravenor Trilogy, Know no Fear, Blood Pact and Salvation's Reach, and then reading Flight of the Eisenstein for the first time; Eisenstein was the only 40k book I had laying around that I hadn't read yet, and I've run out of ones I want to re-read for the moment, so I stopped at a used book store on the way home tonight, and had quite a bit of luck.

The bottom 3 Abnett books I've read before, but I've been wanting to read Double Eagle again for a while now, and was excited to find a hardbound version of it. Necropolis and Xenos look really old and were in amazing shape, so when I got home I had a look inside and discovered this:

I doubt they're worth much monetarily, but I think it's kinda cool to have first editions of two of my favorite Abnett books.

As for this A D-B guy, I keep hearing stuff about him around here and figured I'd give him a try. Unfortunately, the second book in the series was nowhere to be found.

The last few McNeill books I've read didn't exactly blow me away, but I've heard good things about Mechanicum, and I couldn't turn it down at half price.

My beleaguered Crimson Sons got some new materiel shipments in today.

These will be the first half of a Night Raptor counts-as, I think. :D

Leaving a whole bunch of MK3 plate in close proximity to Kage is like dropping off a typewriter to Hank Moody...

inevitably, awesome things will happen :happy.:

I had to look up Hank Moody, lol. Never watched the show, but I appreciate the compliment.

Nice reading list. Looking forward to seeing the Night Raptors built.

I think Double Eagle is one of my favorites simply because it's almost entirely air combat, and you rarely get to see that side of things in the 30/40k books.

So, I tried to get my Vostroyans finished today, being the last day of the ETL. I really did. I airbrushed the company standard for its base coat and some basic shading and then started in with some washes, and it was starting to look really good. Then work called. I had to go in. *sigh*

When I got home, I wasn't even going to try to finish them. I coulda slopped some paint on the remaining figures and called it done, but that's not me.

Besides, my Crimson Sons are howling inside my head, wanting to take up all of my attention, and I may have found just the guy to lead the counts-as Night Raptors squad. Say hello to the HH era BCK mock up:

I stole the skull helm from my previous Sevatar counts-as that I never finished, and since there's no Rosarius in 30k, I thought I might use the shield to represent a refractor field. I always thought it would be cool for a marine with a jump pack to have a big shield. :biggrin.:

Naw, but it looks like it in the pics, which I hadn't even noticed.

I think it's a combination of the angle I was taking the pic at and the position of the little power field generator on the haft that made it look off.

I don't remember. I've done a fair few conversions for my brother and friends for their D&D minis, and I very vaguely remember snipping off a mace from one of them to replace it with a sword. That mace head's been in my bits box for a long time.

I just noticed how tilted to the left the torso is on the pics I just posted. I guess the blue-tac started to slip... he's not supposed to be shooting at the sky.

Will have to look out for that one.

And then there were three.

I think he needs some bulking around the waist. At the moment he looks like he has massive hips.
