No there is one without a helmet, bare head with a rebreather. Ill see if I can find a link:

Top right on

That would be awesome, but I couldn't find one any bits sites and I'm not going to buy the whole pack just for that. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I've scrapped the original Sons of Sek mini for a couple of reasons: it was going to be a real nightmare to do some of the changes I wanted I to make on a metal figure and the metal body of the figure vanished from my desk a few days ago. The arm, blade, and head are still there, but the the body is gone. Maybe that makes three for my cat. Anyway, here's where the remake is at right now.

I shortened the kukri blade some and had no idea that the arm was that much too low until I was futzing with the picture in Photoshop.

Fair enough on the head, if we lived in the same country we could probably work out some bit swaps. Alas not to be.

I prefer the new body, are you going to gs to make it look more like the Voystron? I think the Kukri looks better, now did you shorten it a little?

The new body is ok (I liked the previous one!). The kukri now is perfect - I wouldn't want to face someone swinging that thing! ;)

But the head is way too big now - it makes him look like an angry baby! I think your idea of one of the helmetless but beret wearing scion is a good one. Or as Heinrich suggested something from the AM command sprues?

This one from the Cadian command...

Or this one from the Catachan command...

Heinrich: Yeah, this metal blade technique is probably going to be a thing now.

Hydra: One of the reasons why I wanted to start over was that I decided I didn't want it to look so Vostroyan, but more like a regular guard uniform that they had copied and/or captured. And yes, I did shorten the kukri.

Augs: Another reason I started over is that I wanted to make this guy more like the muscular brute Abnett describes all of them being, which would have been the nightmare in metal I mentioned - he's going to get bulked up and the head won't look so big in comparison.

I have to say, being late to the party (and you know this already) but that metal blade technique is badass.

One of the bare heads from Anvil's Pulse-Mech kit would look really good on that guy, but I doubt you'll want to order a whole kit from the UK: http://www.anvilindustry.co.uk/AFTERLIFE/Republic/Pulse-Mechs

I think it will look better being less Vostroyan because the Vostroyan is a very distinctive look.

I agree completely.

Yeah, the metal blade technique is likely to become a thing now. There's a lot of breakage when I try to make blades out of plastic because I always want to make them thinner than they should be and the metal solves that problem. Plus, it's a lot harder to make a mistake while shaping the metal blade and ruin the work with an accident from a file or hobby knife. The bare head from that kit is nice, but like you said, I don't want to buy the whole kit just for that.

I do indeed still have one. If you'd like it, it's yours.

That's very gracious of you, and if the current head doesn't end up working out, I will take you up on it. :D

So, a small update on the inquisitor. It turns out that sculpting this coat and some of the other gear I wanted to put on her is taking a lot more planning than I first anticipated, but you can see the base of the coat being built up.

The hat got damaged when I removed it previously and I'm the process of trying to salvage it - for now it's just stuck on with some blue tac. I shortened the blade up some and have started working on a scabbard for it. Another great thing about the metal blade is things like sheaths or scabbards can also be a lot thinner and closer to realistic proportions. I'm thinking about putting one of those open holsters on her left hip - the kind that's little more than a loop of material - in a cross-draw position.

Next up is figure I'm considering using for a battle priest type but it's from Confrontation and I'd like to get some opinions on if it would fit in with the other 40k figures or if it's too different.

For the priest?

Here's the figure painted, so it might give a better idea of how it looks than the bare metal.

If the scale is right, he looks great as priest. Maybe remove the iron halo unless he can take such an item and replace the symbol on the shoulder pad with something imperial perhaps paint an aquila on the cloak. Unless he is supposed to be wearing carapace armour, I think he would need a power backpack.

Oh and cover him in purity seals ;)

Only in 40k could that rebreather and that hat go so well together.

A little update on the death cult assassin.

It may not be all that obvious, but there's been a lot of work on her since the last pictures I posted. I have completely reworked the corset and still have the bottom trim to do, and made major changes to the shape and musculature of the legs. I've also tried out a blade I made from the bronze I hammered out in my initial test for the metal blades. Still not sure what I'll go with for a head, but she's getting a lot closer to being finished.

And an update on the damogaur before bed.

I don't know that I'll be able to pull off the the clasped hands face mask that I was hoping for, 'cause this kinda looks like :cuss to me.

Are you kidding, that looks really good to me! Something else you could do would be to have this simply be skin from some hands that he has sewn together, you can put some stitches between the fingers to enhance the appearance.

I like the idea, shamelessly stolen from this:

But I'm going to try it again.  Also, I'm thinking of making a little chaos warband ala the Inq28 stuff, with this guy leading it.

Some of the Kingdom Death miniatures have that "clasped hands" motif over armor and helms - might want to either take a look for good 28mm reference, or see if you can get ahold of them if you're not liking how your own sculpts are coming out.

I'll have a look at that, but aren't all of their figures 3D models that are printed out and then molded?

Olis - my experience with sculpting has been that if I can do ok on the first try, I can usually do much better the second, third, or eighth time. Usually.

Here's another angle of the mask.
