Thanks, guys!

I'm ignoring the current timeline, and moved things up to the last year of the Heresy, thus the Mk VI plate. Next story I write will be in the Sol System itself, setting fire to the Saturnine Docks.

I think it's only fair to post in threads that inspire me, so just a quick drop(pod) in to mention that I've been inspired.

By these chaps:

I love the idea of the broken sword still being used, though in a 40k context it'll have to be a relic of an honoured hero of some kind (none of the sensible "It's just a tool..." sentiment in 40k). I just never figured it would look good until now. It's always the simplest things, right?

But I have no idea how to make a shotgun 'work' in a 40k power armour context... Other than perhaps as a very convoluted boltgun variant.

Thanks for the inspiration! Incidentally, you can also read 'inspiration' as 'shameless plagiarism source'. Probably.

My favorite from the new batch is Logan. He looks like he doesn't take crap from anybody. I also like the blast marks on the breacher shield, very nice touch.

Any plans on making a lord of the forge/techmarine? Would love to see what you would come up with model wise and fluff wise.

@Crusader- :lol:

I'm usually skeptical when it comes to bullet holes on our models, but you did a damn fine job on Langlade's shield.

Also, blonde hair Mohican mohawk. NICE. You're getting into your groove, heathens. I like where this is goin.

Dude your stuff is looking awesome. I love how the wargear all has character, you can tell it's being used, and coveted. I have two gripes. One is about the perfect complection and painted face of your axe marine brother Logan. He looks fresh from the womb. He's not dirty, or sweat streaked, or even stubbly. The skin, eyes, hair, it's all really well done, seamless in fact.

Two; Where are all of the chevrons? You've probably said something about them in the past i didn't catch. I love the company markings, and i'm going to jack those from you, but Y no chevrons!

Thanks, man, glad I can inspire! The whole "It's just a tool" mindset I always figured was an Iron Warrior sentiment, not a 30k mindset, but I get what you're saying. As for making a Shotgun work, I usually think of the 2nd book in the Soul Drinker series. I know many people hated those books (I was a fan, go figure), but there was one Character, Inquisitor Thaddeus, who was running around with a simple autopistol loaded with ultra rare smart rounds that would zip round and round back into a target until it finally detonated. I thought that was the coolest thing ever, and was the inspiration for my Melta Slag-Shells. And feel free to steal away, man. :)

Brother the realism in these models are fantastic

Danke! You need to get a full army shot done soon, you've already knocked out a few dozen dudes, it seems like. :D

Good stuff. Love that IG ML.

Thanks! Never been a fan of the HH missile launcher, looked so damn strange. I figured the IG one would look better.

Excellent work as always, brother.

Sent you a fluff PM for you to peruse whenever you've got some time free from hunting kodiaks with your bare hands and keeping spetsnaz away from Sarah Palins house.

Thanks, man. I usually prefer to take on three or more bears at one time. Gives the bears half a chance, at least.

Wow Logan's face is perfect!

Thanks!

Thank you. No, no forgelord or techmarine coven planned. So far, my only thoughts are of Apothecaries for my breachers, and a Master of Signal and a Siegebreaker for my consuls. Not saying it won't happen, but it will be much later down the road.

I was a bit skittish about the blast marks myself, and I'm not totally happy with the paint myself, but I will strive to perfect the technique, because I love the concept.

And I've heard blondes have more fun. :P

Axe-guy looks fantastic, Heathens. As does Shield-bloke.

Like, fantastic enough to inspire you? *fingers crossed* :P Seriously, though, thank you.

They're all fantastic. It looks to me the Iron Warrior logo is becoming better.

They must think of Verdun as a fun little scrape compared to the battlefields of the thirtieth millennium.

KInda. My detail brush is almost at it's limit; I have a few en route right now. I hope to perfect the logo with the next few guys.

I think Verdun would be a training exercise to the Iron Warriors. Still a heavy inspiration for me, though.

First, the man just had a fresh shave, give him a break, lol. Seriously, though, I'm approaching these guys like I did my Marines Malevolent, where each bare head will be vastly different. Different looks, different skin tones, 5 o' clock shadows, etc. This guy was a test to see if certain colors would work together, is all.

Second, I'm taking a minimalist approach to hazard markings. They'll be there, just not in vast amounts. My most dangerous dudes will usually be the one rocking them, a warning and a threat to all who oppose them. Olympian honor-markings, if you will.

As others have said your work is inspiring, from the models to the way you plan the project and the background. I agree with Dan the Deamon about the face though, while very well painted, I find the cleanness of the skin stands out. I hope you dont mind if i steal a few ideas from you but tbh i have been trying to emulate your work since i first saw your Astral Claws.

Again, he was a tester, nothing more. The rest will bee coated in stubble and blood, honest. :P

And please, steal away. I'd be insulted if you didn't.

I find the lack of chevrons refreshing (and more than welcome) myself. Sometimes you see Iron Warriors that make you think the warnings are their natural color and the gunmetal is the add-on instead of the other way round.

Ditto on the chevrons. They are an interesting addition to a Legion's look, but it seems like more often than not people put too much attention it, like it's fully a part of the color scheme rather than an example of additional markings. Whatever the case with the chevrons, your boys are very clearly Iron Warriors.

Props to you Heathens, as always you are an inspiration to your brothers, myself included. Needless to say, you are one of my favourite modellers out there. I love the characterisation of each model you create and the paint jobs are nothing to sniff at either. Keep up the good work. thumbsup.gif

Call me an intuit then, but I am staring into the realm of the Horus Heresy ever since my ridiculous spending last year on the Betrayal Book I.

Not had a chance to dig that much into what's going in with e setting of 40k, but the HHS books never left me alone after reading them.

I am sadened at your gorgeous MM army is going on eBay, with ought a proper photo set squad by squad and army shot, or my being able to tread all over that Amy with my Sons of Gorgon, but my heart rejoiced with this thread. Not everything is lost brother!

On the subject note, I'm loving the fact you brought the same skill and dedication to detail and conversion work you mastered on MM and the Astral Claws, top notch brother!

Pretty stellar paint work, man. I really like the red mud bases. My only critique, and this is more a minor personal gripe than anything.... Logan's head... his face... Its in one piece. What is he, some kind of pretty boy? Where's his scars?

He's a youth, thus the axe. More experienced Iron Warriors know that superior and overwhelming firepower is the way to go.

Unacceptable. Any 'caring' Officer would have beat the censored.gif out of him until it knocked some sense into his thick young blood skull.
