And a good Officer will ensure he has a solid NCO over him, to keep him from doing anything too bone-headed, and let the young punk learn the best way. Through hard knocks and bitter experience.

One of the things that's always amused me is why so many miniatures are modelled on top of the sand/grass/mud on their bases, as if half a tonne of power armour isn't going to sink. I like the fact that your guys are up to their shins in it! thumbsup.gif

Lol, thanks man! I've been pretty happy with the mud mix so far myself, though due to the recipie, it makes it much harder to add extra stuff to the bases. Not impossible, but it adds almost an entire day to the drying and treating process, which kinda sucks. *shrug*

I for one love the paint job you did on Logan's face, the tones are perfect. Care to share the recipe with us?

That... is a bit hard to answer. I don't use the same recipie twice, so i paint (and mix paint) until I'm happy, or strip the whole noggin and start again. F'rex, I used very pale tones for the Senior NCO of my Sapper platoon, but used more pinkish tones for the Axe man. Even my base tones are different, depending on what shade I want the tone to be in the end. The only rule I really follow is using thinned out devlan mud for dark skin, and thinned out ogryn for paler skin.

It's all experimintation for me, man. I never remember the colors I use after I'm done, and no ratios whould help, as I mix together tones as I go from dark to light. Sorry I can't help more than that.

Ah, that wonderful time of the year, when the seasons change, and the kids come home with whatever Black Plague is running about the school... dry.png

Yeah, didn't get much done this week. I was able to get this fella ready for paint, though. The first of my Tacticals:

Looks great man, but I feel that bandolier would have world best on someone carrying a bolter with an underslung shotgun with slag shells (combi-melta)

Just my two cents.

P.S. I see you finally got use of the Manticore Lord head

Looks awesome,

Danke!

I love the bandolier.

Thanks!

I have special bandoliers for the shotguns. If you look at the hip of the fella rockin' a shotgun, he's carrying one. Thanks for the input, and sorry about not calling last night; kinda had an unexpected family night.

Love it heathens heaps of character whilst still being simplistic and not over ornate

Awesome, that was what I was aiming for.

He's ugly.

But there's also a sexy quality that surrounds him. He's a butterface!

I'll take ugly and professional over fancy and yellow anyday, traitor of Guilliman.... ;)

Why is his hand yellow?

Was he an imperial fist???????

TROLOLOLOL

No, he was a Marine Malevolent. A moment of silence, please.....

Bolter on a chain sling. This has my approval.

Righteous. Thanks!

Its cool man, like I said in my text, sorry for being a bit of an ass about it earlier.

And I did go back to check, you are right about the bandolier. I just love that chest piece so much I think it would great on an actual seeker.

Russ Brother, I think the chains are from the same kit than the head, the Manticore Lord for Warhammer.

Heathens, your work was already fantastic in 40k, you do it even more amazing 10k years earlier.

I don't know if you saw the Iron Hands showed in FW Games Day preview, some of their bits would just feet perfectly for the other "Iron" Legion.

I also like the fact you give a guy the quasi exact same pose in each army you make, the "cool guy walking with arrogance" :D

You probably will make me doing a small Iron Hands force post Isstvaan, maybe the one that went "screw them all" (pun intended) after Ferrus's Death.

Anyway, keep it good, Warsmith Heathens.

Aye the IHs bits would likely look quite good (barring the augmetic leg) as IWs :p I'll post some pics up in the 'incoming models' thread so folks can see them closer than the GD pics :)

Awaiting more Warsmith Heathens :p

No Warsmith am I. The Grey Wolfhound, Phelan Mahdra, is a simple Captain.

On that note, I will be putting this thread to rest soon. Have no fear, though; this is not the end. I have been kindly invited to join Darth Potato and Marshal2Crusaders in their thread, The Day the Palace Fell.

This is not a death. This is a change, formative as autumn. I travel to Terra, to tear the Tyrant of the Imperium from his palace, and free mankind once and for all.
