So I have "finished" this chap. The daemon smoke is clearly a bit rubbish, but honestly I don't like the daemon. I am tempted to cut the daemon out and just have the magical flames. So I have done a fairly perfunctory job on it.

Other than that this mini is amazing. There's nothing wrong with the detail of the daemon, I just don't like it. However the detail on the face is mind blowing. I can't recommend this miniature enough.

Really like the turquoise you have threading through the model, it's nice and subtle while still contrasting nicely with the red armour. I'd only suggest going back to the gem and giving it a final highlight of white, as it looks a bit too similar to the cloak and lacks the gem stone look imo

I hear ya. I am not sure I want it to be a gem. It just seems a bit big and out of place. I might paint it black and put the word bearers symbol in there. :S

I am waiting with it, just like the smoke daemon. Waiting for inspiration to strike! :D

Can you show a photo with a white background? The cloak and the daemon are getting lost against the black for me.

I like the way you have the two colours for the loincloth, but I think that the black pauldrons, cloak and Daemon ends up overwhelming.

Maybe if the smoke swirled from black up into a flame effect around the head, with the head staying black to mimic the legion symbol? The daemon's head bursting from the flames.

It's looking pretty badass on the rest of it - that head is superb.

I shall take a pic in a bit. Just keep in mind the daemon isn't finished. I basically just put some colour in there to use the mini in games so it doesn't stand out too much. I am still totally at a loss as what I want to do with it :(

Still need to put the decals on his shoulder too now you mention it! :D

Haha, my main envy with the Primaris is the potential for poses. It sounds a bit weird, but they look so much more natural than normal marines. More importantly, normal marines look a lil daft to me next to Primaris! >.<

Agreed, the mark III and IV plastic kits squeak by, but anything older just doesn't look up to snuff any more, IMO. You're doing a fine job with that primaris WB though!

For me the MK3 is best. It's bulkier and the legs are more straight without the pre-teabagging position. Rubrics and plague marines are also strong contenders too now that they are a bit bigger. I think those deathwatch legs are good too because they stand up more straight as well but I have yet to use any.

It didn't bother me before but now I am envious of the size of the primaris. I wouldn't mind getting some to convert up for chaos. And thanks you to Tzen I have ideas to borrow. :)

I have had little time to paint recently, but I have done a small about on Erebus!

I don't like the flame on his right leg, I am going to try and re work that into something more suitable to the best character in 40k (30k?!?)
