Scars Episode XI Updated 16/10 (Spoilers)

Recommended Posts

I think mortarion is stuck between a rock and a hard place. He hates witchcraft and tyrrany so he aligned with Horus expecting Horus to not align themselves with the warp.

Then Horus went yep lets get everyone helping us so warp librarians Deamons sorcery all good.

Mortarion had unknowingly made a pact with nurgle on barbarous and after this defeat nurgle will collect.

For mortarion to be close to terra already means that the next jump will be the costly one

"By the time I make my kills, I'm always laughing."

Holy Mother of all thing Badass, this is one of the Heresy's most powerful boasts. Are we sure there are no reports about the dead of Isstvan V ressurrecting just out of sheer morale boost?

Loved this episode, somethings that were highlighted for me.

Magnus talks about Leman Russ and what's "underneath" him and how there's a reason Space Wolves have to cover their weapons and armour in runes otherwise they scream their nightmares into the void. Then there's point about how the fates decreed where the Primarchs would land and that some arcane force prevented it. Oh Magnus also knows the Emperor's true name and says the Khan would be surprised. I get the feeling Magnus has simply given into the perceived "destiny" of chaos, so while he could of redeemed himself he's just gave up.

Also I get the feeling the reason why the Khan sides with the Emperor despite him being a Tyrant is because he understands that if Horus would succeed and would crush everything, then another Emperor would simply come a long, so it's a matter of what Emperor he prefers "serving" under, I think he decides he'd rather server under the Emperor than Horus, Horus who has orchestrated the events that have seen him friend get destroyed and him being lied to repeatedly.

I liked the fact Mortarion is surprised by the Alpha Legion and it just confirms that the force that opposed the White Scars at Chondax were not acting under the orders of Horus and from it, it could be concluded it was Omegon screwing up the plans like he did with the Tenebrae installation and he wanted the White Scars to hear from Dorn.

The voidbikes are described as something larger than the scimitar patterns with enclosed engines and are more like single seater land speeders.

Well, the Khan was already fighting for the top spot in my 'favourite Primarch' list, and I think he's just destroyed all of the competition.eek.gif

...Laughing as he did so, too.laugh.png

The Wolves' weapons would scream their nightmares into the void? Not sure I get it completely, does it mean the savage nature of Russ' boys is darker than is shown? More akin to true bloodlust?

No the wolves themselves would scream their nightmares into the void, so they cover their weapons in runes etc to prevent it. I think he may be referring to the Wulfen, although that's just a guess.

I think that's a tad harsh on Magnus. Personally I see his apathy as stemming from his failures. He saw what was going to happen and knew that his Legion could be a most powerful weapon against it. Yet he gets smacked down and ordered to stop any and all practices that would keep the Legion as a weapon. He fails to save Horus when he had the chance. He failed in trying to warn the Emperor because his hubris blinded him to the consequences of his methods. He even failed in allowing his Legion to be annihilated as punishment for his crimes.

When you boil it down he is the individual who did the most of anybody in the galaxy to avoid the fall of Horus and he merely succeeded in bringing matters to the conclusion desired by the powers of the Warp.

I think resignation is his overwhelming characteristic now. He's been broken by his failures and is just resigned to things happening one way or the other

I'm surprised all over again every week by how much I'm liking this story.

Between watching the growth of the White Scar schism and Magnus, Khan, and Mort discussing the nature of the primarchs and the Imperium, sweet naval battles (which I've always preferred reading over face-punching and bolterporn) Russ coming to terms with having been a pawn of the traitors, and Bjorn emerging as something akin to an equerry, the story has managed to jump from thread to thread without ever landing in a spot that left me anxiously waiting for it to move to a different subplot.

I particularly like the idea that the primarchs are all creatures of the warp, essentially making them all proto-daemon princes.

By the way, is anyone else randomly wondering how the hell anyone managed to subdue Angron long enough to implant the Nails in him?

Yeah I thought the same thing about Angron, but maybe he was just so tired after slaying a bunch of eldar, and it said he was loosing blood...maybe he was in a weakened state?

Though killing an archon and a bunch of eldar is no small feat and I wonder the same.

Maybe he was under the false pretenses that he would be taken care of by humans, but was then subdued?

Plus I think that 200 years is not long enough to find all the primarchs, have Ullanor, and have some buffer time. I thought the Lion was picked up relatively late in the list but participated for at least 100 years.

Especially with all the campaigning...I have no clue how 100 years would be enough. Many books say it takes weeks and months Terra standard time to hop from one sector to the next (warp willing).

A majority of their time would be traveling the void, and battles, no matter how decisive, would still take a while to prosecute.

But as the Imperium got larger and larger, there would be more and more Expedition Fleets heading in more and more directions, covering more and more distance. And with the Emperor being something like a 40,000 year old being with that much accumulated knowledge and warp power, it was probably no big feat for him to personally guide a fleet faster than the best Navigators. Even then, nothing says the Emperor personally had to find the Primarchs. Alpharius himself was discovered by Horus. Who's to one say one or two more weren't just discovered by other Expedition Fleets?

It still feels really compressed :(

I think there's just a whole time paradox going on. I like how they retconned the size of the legions, so maybe they'll add another 100 years on there.

I just think it would make more sense
