Hello all!

The Night Lords have long been my favourite chaos legion, and I have definitely had my fair share of attempts at getting a full army done. However that annoying thing called real life gets in the way every time; if i'm not way too busy I tend to be way too broke.

My one issue with Night Lords was always their distaste for chaos.. I like corrupted arcane weirdness, not renegade space marines! But, the fluff seems to allow different warbands to hold different views. So hashtag yolo, chaos worshipping night lords. I want my army to be, aesthetically, a combination of several aspects. The traditional Night Lords death imagery, the WHFB chaos arcane weirdness, the 40k chaos scariness, and just a touch of the Space Marine legion uniformity/martial pride.

Also, I'm a hobbyist, not a gamer. So if something isn't tournament legal, I really don't care. Haha.

The Company of Lord Akaroth is a Night Lords splinter cell that split off from a larger warband some time before M38. Upwards of 200 astartes and a host of wargear followed the charismatic sergeant Akaroth Koraka in rebellion against their warband, with much blood was spilled on either side. Akaroth was becoming increasingly tempted by the ruinous powers, and believed his warband's secular/anti-chaos nature to be their undoing. While their warband was crippled to just 124 astartes after their rebellion, they have been recruiting since this time, and have grown in strength. Whether their dark patrons are responsible for this is unknown.

The astartes of this company share the Night Lords love of fear and terror, and do not worship chaos in a traditonal sense. They see it as a tool, a very powerful one, that are fully in control of. This is, of course, laughable. Akaroth Koraka has ascended to a daemon prince in recent years, and the warband have formed a cult of personality around him. A cult of personality that feeds the dark pantheon.

Anyway. Time for a sneak peek of what's to come!

And finally, aspiring champion Akaroth Ibisu. The fraternal brother of Akaroth Koraka, and leader of first claw. He is the one who gave the designation Pulse of Dusk to the first claw, due to their tendency to lead the charge of the warband in an attack. The company of Lord Akaroth believe themselves to be night embodied, and thus the order of attack amongst their squads are named for stages of nightfall.

More to come Brothers!

Welcome to the fold brother...haha

I am liking where this is going

also did you post that Heavy Bolter on FB yesterday or earlier today...I swear I have seen it somewhere else...haha

I feel so famous now! Haha. It was yesterday down in Straya, but yep, I definitely posted these on Facebook. In the Chaos Space Marines group.

I think that group has about five times the progress pics for my army this site does, haha.

Well. By some strange miracle of nature, I actually have plans on a Saturday night that don't involve watching the election coverage without pants.

So, I won't be able to upload any good pictures of first claw tonight, as I don't have the time to set up a light box, etc.

But just to keep the ball rolling, here's another member of first claw. He's currently kneeling down to inspect a head he has recently taken as a trophy. Maybe he's going to carve something into it. Maybe Slayer lyrics. We are yet to know, mortals. This picture is a WIP, so calm your jimmies about mould lines.

Well, seeing as the weekend is almost up and i'm back to not having a life for the rest of the week, I have a whole lot of pictures for you guys. First Claw are all modelled and converted, so now just to fix the mould lines and basecoat them, and I can get to painting them.

So, now, here's my First Claw, or as they so pretentiously call themselves, Pulse of Dusk.

Ashaka Niri was inspired from the amazing Forge World pre-heresy destroyer models, which were painted in the Night Lords scheme. Therefore, fluffwise, Niri
is a veteran who once served on a destroyer squad. In his left hand he carries a large rad-bomb, which has the potential to render cities uninhabitable for years. His belt also holds many bio-alcem weapons equally as dangerous, and Niri is rather liberal in the use of such things. Niri's right shoulder pad contains an unholy oath to the warband's daemonic leader Akaroth Koraka, to place an infernal blessing on the arm he uses for the rad-bomb.

Ranix Tyria is one of the newer initiates to the company, and was picked up as a child from a feral world in a backwater system. He is generally treated with dubious trust in the first claw, as most of its members have been in service for millenia and he often acts outside the warband's best interests.

This member of the squad's name is currently unknown to imperial records. His elaborate makeshift wings display the skulls of his enemies to all those who dare to face him, and the tusk of a great beast he has slain is fixed to his bolter as a bayonet. From his waist hangs a long chain used to terrorise his enemies, and a primitive club which amounts to little more than a board with nails in it. This primitive club has a mysterious origin, but is known that the astartes guards it with his life. He also, for rituallistic reasons, prefers to deliver the killing close combat blow with it where possible.

Skirius the Terran-Born is one of the oldest members of the company, and indeed the Night Lords remnants as a whole. He was born on Terra during the unification wars and carries the ancient banner of the legion into battle, the banner having survived for over ten millenia. He is a bitter and disenchanted warrior, and believes the leadership of First Claw should be his. Many believe it is a case of if, not when, he will attempt to seize power from Akaroth Ibisu.

Here an astartes can be seen holding a gore-soaked Cadian's head in one hand, with his knife at the ready in the other. For all intents and purposes, he would appear to have either just harvested the head or preparing to desecrate it. His left-hand shoulder contains a large piece of parchment bound in heavy rope, perhaps containing an oath to Akaroth Koraka or a kill-count.

First Claw Pulse of Dusk heavy weapons specialist Isara Vex. Isara Vex wields Ragnar, a daemonically possessed heavy bolter. Vex and Ragnar often communicate with one another on the battlefield, and sometimes it is unknown who really controls whom. The bolter was named Ragnar by its original owner, a Space Wolf devestator who was slain by Vex. Some say the wolf's spirit is trapped eternally inside the bolter with the daemon. Vex himself turned renegade much more recently than others; it was only 2000 years ago he was a member of the Invaders space marine chapter. Some of his Invaders heraldry can still be seen, albeit defiled.

The company of Lord Akaroth believe themselves to be night embodied, and thus the order of attack amongst their squads are named for stages of nightfall. Akaroth Ibisu has been given the command of First Claw due to his blood-link with Koraka, and is on track for ascension to daemon prince himself. His armour is covered with unholy parchment swearing oaths to both is brother and the ruinous powers which support him, as well as numerous trophies.

Okay, okay. It turns out with some of these pictures, you can't actually see a lot of the details I'm describing. So to prove they exist, I will upload photos from different angles for some of the models. They have been edited into the original post.

I give you permission to check out my marines asses. Go ahead. They are such teases with that revealing power armour anyway.

Also, as a bonus, here's a kitbashed sorcerer i'm working on. In my head he's a combination of a dark apostle and a sorcerer; he upholds the worship of Akaroth Koraka, and channels warp powers for crazy spells. Probably squats too.

Brother your in Victoria there's more to do than SA msn-wink.gif but keep on bringing night lords

Not when you live in my part of Victoria, man... Hahaha. There's a terrible nightclub, a McDonalds and a lot of cows. That's about all. Usually an exciting night here consists of going halves in a slab and a pack of smokes, and then spending the whole night trying to invite girls over to your mate's freezing shed. Then if they arrive you wish you could go back to playing Gears of War with your friend in silence.

Anyway!

I apologise for the lack of updates on Lord Akaroth's finest, work has absolutely kicked my ass this week. So much so I've been dreaming about SQL tables most nights. Buuut, I did manage to sneak some time in between comas for some small updates!

First of all, I didn't think Ranix Tyria looked "Feral" enough for his background. And he looked kind of plain. So a few small upgrades later, and i'm much happier with him.

And from the back:

http://s6.postimg.org/kxxi1ctch/j_QSq_ABr.jpg

Also, having 9 marines in the squad was driving me nuts. So I went all out and added a tenth, did some conversion work, and here goes! Meet the newest member of Pulse of Dusk, Ishka Valdretta. Valdretta is like most other Pulse of Dusk members, really. A very unpleasant fellow. His unpleasantness has led to Chaos taking a shine to him, and as a result his backpack seems to be alive, constantly torn between two consciousnesses which try to tempt him to differing chaos gods. He also prefers to wear a simple breathing apparatus instead of a helmet; Valdretta enjoys knowing the empty pools of black that are his eyes are the last thing his victims see.

So yeah, hope you guys enjoyed this update. I hope to get a test scheme painted up this weekend, will post results!

Enjoy brothers
