Little to much red for me, ends up looking a bit too much like Death Company. Other than the red looks good although did notice on the ironclads left foot the front toe is pointing to the right. Also I know alot of people dont care but it is always somethi g I try to get rid of before painting but mold lines. Like I said tho looking good other than those things.

Great work so far! It seems that you swapped white BT areas with red. That's something I wouldn't do, but truth be told I like the aesthetics of your army. That's one clever way of avoiding the issue of painting white :)

Hey guys, Thanks!  I'll check on the ironclad.  I use a gel super glue, so I can usually pop stuff off and readjust later if need be.  Thank goodness, else I never would have been able to redo the terminator.  As to the mold lines.  I never thought too much of them until recently, and just got a set of files.  So the next gen stuff I do should have far less mold lines, but can't really fix the old ones without repainting them.

When I was first looking at BT, I noticed the sword brethern squad used red instead of white on the pauldron shoulders.

That scheme was what drew me to templars.  I didn't like the white pauldrons for one reason or another.  (it helps that I suck at painting white, so maybe that is my real reason for going with red).  I liked how it turned out overall, and it's a bit too late now to go back!

With that in mind, I just finished the first terminator refit.  Just your bog standard BT tabard + GK helm + forge world cast copy shield in greggles scheme!

Finished up the champ as well.  I'll have more photos of him later as I get the various shields and marshal versions of him done.  (just did the main sword for right now).

Changing it up a bit.   Finished the storm raven's mount and base.  It's 6 inches high, which is about 1 inch higher then the GW bases.  There is a bit extra grass around the bottom, because I tried to greenstuff and mucked things up to high heaven.  So the grass is hiding stuff :).

One squad done.  The Sword brother has inverse pauldrons.  Black edge with grey highlight, and same redish/orange center like the emp champ...oh and a red helm.

Second group of 10 has different toned tabards with brown belts. (in progress)

Some updates!

Finished the whirlwind up.  Took longer then expected because I started adding an additional highlight layer to the reds.  Going to slowly go back through the vehicles and spruce them up a bit.

Finished one of my lascannon guys.  Note to anyone building these...fit them together BEFORE painting a whole load of stuff that gets instantly blocked when the gun is put into place....

And last, I finished up another terminator revamp!  This is the "sword brother" of the terminator assault squad.  To make him stand out from the other TH/SS guys, I gave him a GK terminator blade...which is awesome...because I had no idea it was a friggin claymore!

I think I'm slowly getting better at the power swords too...lookin good at tabletop level!

Another note...if you buy the forgeworld shields...don't buy recasts from russia/hong kong/china.  I did and it's not worth it.  they are really brittle and pieces snap easily, and there is a lot of detail lost.  Considering how much time it takes to paint them up, its better just paying the forgeworld prices and not trying to cover up recast damage...

It's a pleasure to see that you're making progress!

May I ask how did you paint the power sword's blade? The result is quite stunning.

And I sort of know what you feel about the shields. I got some dirt cheap casts of unknown origin and they are terrible. Sure, I got like 12 of them for less than a pound, but some are damaged beyond repair. I'm planning to use them as ornaments for a bastion/fortress I'll eventually build. The other, "usable" shields require a lot of work before they are restored to an acceptable standard. And "acceptable" is still far from perfect. However, overall the bargain was pretty good. I wouldn't get FW shields ever, because of the outrageously high shipping costs.

Thanks for the comments guys!

@Cris,  agree on shields.  I lucked out, but these are definitely having some issues.  My green stuff is not up to snuff!

The power sword works like this.

Entire blade Mordian blue (macragge blue now)

Then i divide the blade into 3rds.  The center remains mordian blue.

Outer 1/3 I paint Enchanted Blue (caledor sky now)

Then I divide the enchanted blue section in half, and paint the outer section, temple guard blue.

Then on the very very edge, I put skull white (white scar now), on the brush and slide it along the edge at a 45 degree angle on both sides.

Here is a close up of the sword so you can see my "straightish" lines. (LOL)

Its all linear, and not blended...one day when I figure out blending I think it'll even look better.  As is though, the overall effect is that the blade is definitely glowing on the table.

@Roujakis

I was pretty happy how it turned out.  I was going to use it for the honorguard champ, and realized I had a bunch of tabard duplicates for the terminators, and I wanted to prevent 3 of a kind, so it worked out nicely.  I do wish it was a bit wider, (it's definitely more narrow then the BT tabards)

I am exhausted.  Decided no more thunderhammers.  Everybody gets a sword.  You get a sword, and you get a sword, and YOU GET A SWORD!  They'll just count as thunderhammers.

I'll get some better photos this weekend, but here they are in all their glory.  My terminators!

(forgot to upload second pic! Bases really make them pop)

Some shots from the game this weekend.

Had a 1v1 vs DE (relic, spearhead), BT won 6-0 (relic, linebreaker, warlord, first blood)

1v1 Necron (I was tabled by turn 3.  He made every jinx, and wiped out pretty much my whole army without much contest)

and BT and DE (1k each), vs necron (1k + 1k), with 6 annihilation barges.  That was brutal.  Necrons won, but it was a much closer game then I thought.

Summary? Need lots more str 8 and 9.

Here are some in progress shots!  Will have a battle report on the DE game later.

Bad luck with the cursed Necrons. Looking forward to your bat-rep.

I have to admit that I somewhat envy you :) That you have so many finished models which look staggering on the battlefield. Thanks for sharing!

It's taken a long time brother!  I look forward to the day i don't have a single plastic or primed thing on the battlefield...can't say that for my orks...soooo many orks still to paint!  Here are some more action shots, I'll work on the battle report today.

Posted the battle report in the battle report section!  Going to keep this blog primarily for the painting/modeling aspect!

New batrep.  Templars vs Necrons, 1500 points.

You can see the vindicator I'm working on in this one.  I haven't posted many photos as I just finished repairing it from ebay.  Sometimes you think you are saving 30 bucks on a model...well guess what, you aren't after you spend an hour repairing the thing.

Brass etches look awesome though!
