Hey guys!

Been doing some slow work on my next vow.  As always, got the bases done first.  Helps keep me going.

Just need to clean up the sides and add some flock and they are good to go.  (I did this, but am a bit lazy about retaking the photo right now!).

I spent most of my time last week completely reorganizing, building, and preparing a new work area.

I went from this

Quite a massive improvement.  Plus now I don't have to move all my stuff around when people come over, as I've got my own dedicated work area.  I'm also working on getting some paint pot and tool stands, so it'll look even cleaner as time progresses.

In terms of the actual figures, I've just got them cleaned, primed, and with an initial layer of merchite red.  Slow and steady is how I work!

Love the Terminator Chaplain model. One of my favorite sculpts, really. My local Hobbytown had it for 50% off when they decided to stop selling GW products, and I hate myself for not jumping on it. The guy is looking kinda...'powdery,' for lack of a better word. Little pecks of white n' such.

And God do I envy you for that Inquisitor model. Another one of my favorites, which is painfully rare, and ebay knows it tongue.png

I give it 2 months before your new workspace is as messy as your old one. I've cleaned up mine a few times, and it doesn't take long to mess it up again biggrin.png

Work space has already gotten messier :).  Mainly because I've been holding off ordering the paint racks in case the company is at Nova (end of august).

Their website seems down at the moment. :(

The powder is from the bristles of my degrading brushes hitting the legs around the center tabard.  I don't have a tiny enough brush to fit in that center crevice without accidentally hitting the sides.  I'm going to try to clean it up as a final step.  (Still have to do all the codex grey line work).

Both the inquisitor and this model are some of my favorite sculpts as well.  I think it's why I waited so long to paint them.  Was trying to get my painting skills to match the sculpts!

Solid work :)  One thing that pops out at me is the eyes.  A touch too much white there, me thinks.  A teeny tiny dab of red wash would help.  But if you don't have tiny brushes, that's probably not a headache worth tempting.

I was thinking about doing that firepower.  I got one eye really good...then I went off center on the left...then I corrected by putting too much white on the other eye so it didn't look like a lazy eye.

I think I'll go back and fix a lot of my eyes when I get some decent brushes to replace these.  I also gotta call a model done, or I'll work on it endlessly!  I appreciate the feedback though, you helped me cleanup all that dust flecks!

For good brushes, Winsor and Newton Series 7 Miniature brushes, 00 and 000. My little Excaliburs biggrin.png

My expensive little Excaliburs laugh.png But if you treat them right, they'll treat you right.

They're also really freaking hard to find :P

The base is a resin base from dragon forge.  I originally bought some models (templar primed black models) from ebay, which had dragon forge bases. I liked them so much, that I put all my templars on ancient ruins, and lost empires bases from Dragonforge.  It's not cheap, but it's a one man company, and Jeff's a great guy.

Hero base series. (40mm/25mm)

Primed base chaos black.

For the dirt, I did

Rhino X hide (saturated)

Dry brush morfang brown

dry brush khemri brown

dry brush screaming skull

Heavy devlan mud wash

super light dry brush of khemri brown

I kinda of drybrush the dirt part until it looks "right".

Stone is...

Chaos black primer.

Rakarth flesh (heavy)

Screaming skull dry brush

Devlan mud wash (dab off flat surfaces, saturate crevices)

light dry brush praxeti white

Grass thing is "swampland tufts" from army painter

Great chaplain, I like the red shoulder pad and the use of both gold and silver on the crozius ;) The small purple accents is also great looking!

And about the brushes, I know your pain. I only have one or two decent ones out of my 8-10 :(

Thanks so much for the comments guys!  Glad to see everyone likes him as much as I do.  Now to finish the other chaplain, and the last two HQ's!  Note to future buyers...resin recasts of GW clamshells, not so great!

For Honda, a slightly better shot.  This is my counts as Grimaldus.  I swapped his bolt pistol for a master crafted plasma pistol, and I'm going with the "steel plated skull helm" line from helsreach.  The original model had two flowing red (don't want to call them ribbons but don't know what else to call them), which is why the purity drapes are red.

Next one WIP.  Some parts are finished (red on the flowing thingys, purple purity seals).  Gold just got washed (balthsar + shining + sepia wash).  Washing metals next.
