Flint13
Afternoon folks. Need a community opinion here. It's a pretty small part of Tarik, but a couple comments got me thinking. His original shoulder pads were made from MK7 pieces heisted from the tactical marine box set (as most of his parts are ^_^ ). I think I want to keep his left pad, since A.) it took forever to build from scratch and B.) Tarik's buddy Loken popularized the legion badge switch to the right shoulder with a riveted left pad to deflect small arms fire. (But hey, I could be persuaded otherwise) http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/640x480q90/661/Ca5HYL.jpg But his right pad is still up in the air. **Which one looks best?** A.) Relic Armor http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/640x480q90/537/6DxhdM.jpg B.) Standard MKII http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/640x480q90/912/Ix75SE.jpg C.) Layered Championhttp://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/640x480q90/911/i4yTAo.jpg Replies! @ Fire Golem - Ah, I like Kibre and Noctua. Vengeful Spirit is prolly my favorite McNeil novel. @ Recon - That isn't a half bad idea. I was actually thinking of trying a few more Emperor's Children sometime soon. @ Atia - Thanks girl! Whatcha think of his ensemble options? @ Corsovitt - Hardy har har :P You should totally join the March event! You have an entire month, and its only one guy :D @ Kizzdougs - Thanks! I like how Argel Tal turned out quite a bit myself. Hope Tarik doesn't disappoint. @ Angrypantz - Dunno if it's always awesome, but I certainly appreciate it! Slips
I like the Relic Look more, personally. Layered Champion I prefer having on Both shoulders so it doesn't look lopsided (to me anyways). Mk II is ok but I don't feel like it suits a Captain. Also, the Higher rim makes it harder for side-swiping neck blows to connect and might actually deflect some bullets. Teetengee
Relic looks better. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/282556-savage-midnight-armored-up-an-rolling-heavy-for-etl-pg109/page/100/#findComment-3966442 Share on other sites
Corsovitt
I think relic looks better but I think standard mark II possibly suits the fluff better as Slipstreams said the relic may deflect a decapitating blow... Daemon2027
I kind of like plain mark II. The model looks great either way. Kol Saresk
I actually like the layered champion. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/282556-savage-midnight-armored-up-an-rolling-heavy-for-etl-pg109/page/100/#findComment-3966526 Share on other sites
Atia
i would choose: A.) Relic Armor http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/640x480q90/537/6DxhdM.jpg after all, Tarik is on of the oldest members of the legion and the mournival (but not that old like poor qruze), he deserves a relic armor shoulder pad (but the other two are also great :P!) Conn Eremon
I actually like the layered champion. Pure aesthetics-wise, I'm with Kol. Relic is my least favorite. It just seems more ostentatious than I feel is appropriate for Tarik. Iron Hands Fanatic
I'd say relic - after all, this is one of the most important guys in the entire Legion. Mk II just feels too plain for him to be honest, and I can't help but associate the layered pad with the 40k era. The relic pad gives him a lil' bit of ostentation whilst retaining the whole simple brutality vibe going on with the rest of his plate. Brother-Chaplain Kage
What about a MKIII? Ye get one of those laying about? Nothing says simple brutality like that one. recon0321
Weren't the mournival all in MK IV? Besides Ezekiel Abaddon? infyrana
Weren't the mournival all in MK IV? Besides Ezekiel Abaddon? Shh... minor detail ;) Though it depends on when the figure is made for :) I vote Relic too... though I'm partial to a nice MkIII pad too. KBA
Layered champ for the win. love that bit. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/282556-savage-midnight-armored-up-an-rolling-heavy-for-etl-pg109/page/100/#findComment-3966773 Share on other sites
Wicced
my vote also goes to relic armor for his pad  additionally the small piece of cloth on his lower back shouldn't hang as straight, it should flutter with his movement imho. Augustus b'Raass
Yup, I'm with the majority and vote for the Relic - although a MkIII pad would look brutal too. IN any case, the layered pad just looks *way* too modern to me. Flint13
Hiya guys! Finished up Tarik. Pretty darn happy with him, even though he took like eight hours to paint. Of course, C&C is always appreciated. I never mind improving ^_^ Thanks for all the helpful input from everyone! It's always super handy to get such good feedback when I'm confused or stuck on something. http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x600q90/673/zIwx7C.jpg The rest of his glamour shots are over in the March of Legions if you want to go check him out. KrautScientist
Wow, an absolutely amazing piece! Torgaddon was easily one of my favourite character from the books, and your model really does him justice, Slaughter-Daughter ;) Excellent job! Atia
Awww cool! i think he looks even better than your Aximand! not sure on the mark VIII shoulder pad, but that's the fluff-nerd-side of me :P still looks ace^^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/282556-savage-midnight-armored-up-an-rolling-heavy-for-etl-pg109/page/100/#findComment-3969478 Share on other sites
