lionofjudah
Ive been at this army for 3/4 years now...able to paint on it in between other armies, commissions, school, opening a business, having 3 kids and a loving partner.... These 3 guys have a WIP thread kicking but I wanted to share where they might be appreciated by our non-PA brothers ;) worked his flesh over a lil more, cleaned up the greys and the greens....added some color to his shiny ribbons http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/i444/Default75/Snapbucket/6EEE54D9_zps51354003.jpg tightened and added colorsĀ http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/i444/Default75/Snapbucket/6C083C77_zps52f1a9b3.jpg still not liking to paint this one and I am happy its coming together http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/i444/Default75/Snapbucket/73FAAF66_zps991772f4.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283143-working-on-my-guard/ Share on other sites

Kierdale
Very nice work! I think you could get better scribblescript with a very fine pen rather than a brush and paint, but that's a small thing. Ā Looking forward to seeing some rank and file, and armour! WarriorFish
Very characterful models, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more! Like Kier I also recommend cheating and using a pen to make life easier but it's not a big deal as the scrolls look good. WarriorFish
Looks very good, but what's the hairspray method? Do you paint the wash while singing or something? lionofjudah
Hairspray method is - paint the vehicle in your normal colors, gloss varnish, apply decals, seal, spray with hairspray, airbrush white, take a tooth brush and some warm water and remove the white paint to desired finish...weather...it SO much faster!!! hendrik
i'm curious how you will add the gunner to the bipedal autocannon. the tripod certainly will be the easiest to model. lionofjudah
Hendrik- the bipedal gunner will be the steel legion HB guy. Digits on the ammobunker did a tut on laying down guardsman that's pretty nice as well. WarriorFish
I thought that was the toothbrush method, why wasn't I informed of the name change? :P Ā Now you've got a nice and fast method of painting down we expect you to double your production speed. Hop to it soldier! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283143-working-on-my-guard/#findComment-3522562 Share on other sites
lionofjudah
AHhhh Ā .... warriorfish, I appreciate you calling me out and I hope I am able to hold myself accountable to my brothers in arms to bring this army to fruition ... My issue is I cant put unpainted mini's on the tabletop as that is an affront to the emperors divine light (IMO)...and I have high standards...and Im learning slowly to paint the way I want ;). I will do my best and look forward to posting on a regular basis. Heres a shot of some of my stuff I will be working on. http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/i444/Default75/Snapbucket/FB4C90DC_zps8100af3c.jpg http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/i444/Default75/Snapbucket/7874AEED_zps15004a6f.jpg Ive got a mix of troops representing a rearguard withdrawl by (what I hope to be) armored engineers- Ive got DKOK, Elysians, Cadian Haz, and a some maxmini and kromlech body mods for various pieces... This guy is gonna be chilling with my techmarine as support (picked him up on the great Bay in the sky) http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/i444/Default75/Snapbucket/41418A58_zpsd9c255d1.jpg liked him so much I picked 2 more up - The DKOK limited one will be a Nork for Apoc and the other is the Xaphan hound handler...dont know what he will be yet but I am hoping with a new 'dex ogryn may actually be 'worth' taking as the models are awesome. lionofjudah
Just broke my...'not buying anything new until Ive painted all the stuff I have' rule... :) Victoria Miniatures produces some nice Chem Breathers and flak torsos...picked up a few weapon arms as well... Ive procured some of the maxmini armoured torsos and odds and ends from a few other resin manufacturers...Ā Ā Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283143-working-on-my-guard/#findComment-3522760 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
As it should be, if you put a model on the table unpainted it will curse you and your rolls and you would deserve no less! The "paint what you've got" collecting method is a good one, but I've yet to see someone able to master it, so good luck to you in your unrealistic goal :P Ā So long as you're always piggling away at the plastic mountain and happy with what comes off the production line that's all anyone can ask :) You've got a great stash of models, keep us updated with your progress! hendrik
looking good! as for the autocannon gunner, a lying down autocannons will be rather tricky gamewise with TLOS nowadays. i loved your autocannon so much i decided to convert one for my company command squad. i ended up using the missile launchers arms with some recutting to make them fit a standing up cadian guardsmen. i like the fact that you'll use multiple type of guardsmen as well. will each type have its own platoon of will platoons be mixed as well? lionofjudah
Couple more shots...heres my vulture (painted some FOW Finnish dudes for this)...Punisher cannons have thrown much Dakka at my sons Orks http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/i444/Default75/Snapbucket/53DB7DF5_zps130915c3.jpg Thunderer... always liked the idea of the fixed mount weapon. This particular Thunderer saw use supporting my troops in the close quarter city fight rearguard action as they covered the general withdrawl from LV426 (still working on the backstory for this army)... cannot take credit for the model as I got it on the Bay...will be adding rivets like a madman http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/i444/Default75/Snapbucket/FAC17E20_zps7bf6fe39.jpg http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/i444/Default75/Snapbucket/8CDDDBF9_zps2c0bc230.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283143-working-on-my-guard/#findComment-3523749 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
I like all the extra bits, gives tanks a good "lived in" feeling. I should get around to sprucing mine up but it is one of many items on a list of improvements that I don't have time for :( Ā Keep up the good work, especially the conversions and bashing :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283143-working-on-my-guard/#findComment-3524948 Share on other sites
Kierdale
Very nice Thunderer and Vulture (must get one of those in the future!). Also I must say I really like that your weapon servitor has his face painted half black, half white. Will be stealing that one, oh yes.
