Skrundle87
Hey mate thanks for the input. I don't disregard it at all I see it as beneficial to have an extra bit of advice on things like this. As you said it may be out of my league attempting to paint these effects but I think I'm willing to try On the topic of the models blending together it was quite easy really. With the aid of some bits and pieces and a bit of imagination I've found (particularly scale wise) the two kits to combine really easily and effectively. Skrundle87
So to satisfy my (and perhaps mechanists) concerns with how the wings might turn out I decided to do a wing tester as well. So here it goes http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/af171/skrundle87/Mobile%20Uploads/07D3CE3E-4BAA-4E03-8561-66BADBA97A11_zpsmjj3abuc.jpg Once again any notes would be handy
Mechanist
looking good and should go nicely with the blue and gold, what are you planning or the bony bits? more purple or something else.
Skrundle87
Nah I'll do the boney bits bone coloured. For some popping contrast
Skrundle87
So I've started painting the main model now. I won't bore you with progress shots every step. However, I would like some oppinions. I'm trying to decide which style of flames to go with. Option A. Fire breathing http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/af171/skrundle87/Mobile%20Uploads/E060C70C-81E5-4C33-8FAA-3A00F2C4F08F_zpssx6pmjox.jpg Or option B. Pre flame http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/af171/skrundle87/Mobile%20Uploads/DA1DB5A2-9C86-4133-A9A3-D0D0E854683B_zpsdja0lhsw.jpg I'm actually kinda partial to B myself
Filkarion
I support B, more original and classy BTW I like those wings a lot, you seem to possess all the skill your model needs to be great!
Skrundle87
Thanks a lot for the compliment. I was actually pleasantly surprised myself with how the wings turned out. I just hope I can recreate it onto the actual piece.
Svartmetall
I'd also go with B, not least because it's going to be a lot less likely to get accidentally knocked off.
KrautScientist
Hmm, option B is an interesting concept, and certainly the more original variant. However, I fear it might interfere with the shape and look of the head too much, especially if the flame effect ends up bright and striking. So I think A is the safer option, especially with the look of the whole model in mind.
Svartmetall
Point; if you go with A, then pin it securely, and also I'd lay the flame piece on its side so it spread horizontally for more of a template-y feel. BTW I also really like the purple on the wing test.
Skrundle87
Just a bit of a progress shot for you guys http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/af171/skrundle87/Mobile%20Uploads/9B91FFDA-52E5-4A9B-BF61-D1B0D2FF1BA6_zpskih0aeuc.jpg I think it's going okay

Skrundle87
Managed to get a touch more painting done today slowly but surely I feel it's coming along nicely http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/af171/skrundle87/Mobile%20Uploads/36190CBD-9AEA-4179-A94C-C9D1DDEE7E5E_zpsurr9o7fl.jpg
Skrundle87
I'll get some highlights done tomorrow and hopefully the wings! I feel confident that it's turning out well http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/af171/skrundle87/Mobile%20Uploads/88DCDFC2-D73C-4B55-B49E-E7A5CE356E2A_zpshvirtedx.jpg
Eldrick Shadowblade
Looking good so far! I kind of like B, but i'd say ultimately it depends on your basing plans
Skrundle87
So it turns out this guy is proving to be very time consuming. However also very rewarding myself. After each step I am feeling more and more happy with it http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/af171/skrundle87/Mobile%20Uploads/03F225A3-66BF-4C1C-9A21-A95EC7CF031B_zpsarikv8aj.jpg
Skrundle87
So I couldn't help myself and I decided to paint two legs before I did the second wing. Having a whole side really gives a good idea how this beast is going to look when done http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/af171/skrundle87/Mobile%20Uploads/8A677CAE-E18A-4F46-8831-E91BB1DB79C5_zpsrd4iic56.jpg It will of course need a final lot of touch ups once fully assembled as I can see the rear leg is quite a lot darker but I will sort this out when done http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/af171/skrundle87/Mobile%20Uploads/0CB15EBE-3131-4CB9-B585-564F12D25B6C_zpspqi5ifsy.jpg http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/af171/skrundle87/Mobile%20Uploads/B2906C8C-4D3F-4206-A26D-AB2FB89C501E_zpsdok5nfbz.jpg http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/af171/skrundle87/Mobile%20Uploads/ABB66D00-2FCC-4FE4-85BF-3C33CFD79620_zpsuj7chrlf.jpg

Mechanist
I'd say that's more than coming along nicely, thats a damn fine paint job right there. As for the flame I quite like option b but wouldn't mind a quick mock up pic with the whole sid view to see how it looks in the context of the whole drake.
