Hey mate thanks for the input. I don't disregard it at all I see it as beneficial to have an extra bit of advice on things like this. As you said it may be out of my league attempting to paint these effects but I think I'm willing to try

On the topic of the models blending together it was quite easy really. With the aid of some bits and pieces and a bit of imagination I've found (particularly scale wise) the two kits to combine really easily and effectively.

So I've started painting the main model now. I won't bore you with progress shots every step.

However, I would like some oppinions. I'm trying to decide which style of flames to go with.

Option A. Fire breathing

Or option B. Pre flame

I'm actually kinda partial to B myself

Hmm, option B is an interesting concept, and certainly the more original variant. However, I fear it might interfere with the shape and look of the head too much, especially if the flame effect ends up bright and striking. So I think A is the safer option, especially with the look of the whole model in mind.

Point; if you go with A, then pin it securely, and also I'd lay the flame piece on its side so it spread horizontally for more of a template-y feel.

BTW I also really like the purple on the wing test.

So I couldn't help myself and I decided to paint two legs before I did the second wing. Having a whole side really gives a good idea how this beast is going to look when done

It will of course need a final lot of touch ups once fully assembled as I can see the rear leg is quite a lot darker but I will sort this out when done

I'd say that's more than coming along nicely, thats a damn fine paint job right there.

As for the flame I quite like option b but wouldn't mind a quick mock up pic with the whole sid view to see how it looks in the context of the whole drake.
