What 2014 will bring

I'd like to see some of Dante's old rules re-appear, for example a force multiplying bubble of awesomeness(used to be calles Preferred Enemy: All), or the rules for his deathmask from the 3rd edition codex. Get rid of the zulu-deathmask (thumbs up if you get the musical reference) for a character, and zulu-deathmask EVERY opponent within 6" of Dante! That's also totally a verb.

As it stands now, Dante needs either init 6 in combat or Eternal Warrior. I hope they come up with a more suitable, creative solution, though. I'd like to see him be effective again, and closer to the legend that proceeds him, like lightning proceeds thunder.

Also, give our Captains their artificer armour back!

What would also be useful if we're talking about our Chapter heads, is maybe getting a Chapter Master entry to allow generic successors to have a figurehead that isn't Dante by a different name. It works for Dark Angels, and normal Marines naturally get it. It's either Dante or Seth for now, and it removes some of the uniquieness that players can derive from building (and modelling) their own whether it is an established Successor or invented.

It seems Grey Knights are being released in August or are heavily rumored to be at this point. How does this affect Bloos Angels? I wonder fi they are going to be pushed back till late 2014 or into 2015 and if so, why, not that we may ever discover.

GK dex preorders this weekend, the manager at my local store confirmed this.

So far it's been nids, AM, orks and SW, and now GK. That's 5 dexes in 8 months. At this release rythm there's plenty of time for 2-3 more codexes at least in 2014. With room for supplements or mini-releases like Imperial Knights. Betting on something like assassins. Much like last year's Inquisition, but this time printed copy, they haven't done many digital-only releases lately...

I'm kind of confused by this Grey Knight stuff. It has been confirmed now, but the new rumors that came along with the confirmation was that it was a very minimal update. As in there are no new models, and the codex has removed all Inquisition units. I don't really know what GW is going for with this, but if it means we get the GK out of the way quick and move on to BA I'm all for it. biggrin.png

Sounds like a stop-gap release. It's what they did with the second Tau book; an update even though it wasn't strictly necessary in order to gain more time on the things that need a larger overhaul.  Can't help but note that this leaves only three softback codices, and I need two of them... *looks sadly at wallet*.

Jokes about the chariot aside, the new Logan figure is an improvement on the old and the new Nagash model looks absolutely stunning. If one of our characters does get a resculpt when it becomes a LoW choice, I think I'm looking forward to it.

B-b-b-but I just finished painting my Mephiston mini! ohmy.png (bought him and dante on releaseteehee.gif )

How am I supposed to keep my painting backlog free with these kind of rapid fire updates on every sculpt!

I actually like astorath the way he is, I think his re roll of enemy invul saves is nice and unique and the removal limit of 0-1 on death company gives you the dream of death company only. I think the problem is that he should be about 180 points for what he gives, not the stupidly overpriced we all know but if I'm honest I'm am fully expecting gw to adress this when the codex drops

I am about to start BA... so I wish they make this edition a good edition for the SG... I want to have a SG army so I hope they can still be troops! but I don't see them getting an Invulnerable... maybe they will get cheaper and death masks will become more useful... actually I really hope they improve death masks, because I love the look of death masks! thats the main thing I love about the look of SG!!

Priests also really need to come down in points! the Sanguinor needs to be re-worked into something more useable... the HQ's really do need more equiptment options in general!

I am quite interested to see what new things they do to DC?
but mainly I am just hoping this codex is for all the SG out there!

You can go with an SG army regardless thanks to Unbound.  My idea for making SG less squishy was making a Priest available as an upgrade to the squad, I also want to see Glaives Encarmine become something more than just master-crafted.  I really hope they don't change Death Company actually, all I want is to see their jump pack cost decrease.  Other than that I think their 6th/7th edition incarnation is incredible.

What does everyone think about removing the old Heroic Intervention from our VV and giving it to SG instead?  I'm thinking it would be more contained than leaving it on VV since SG are restricted to combat squads, but it would probably push their point per marine pretty high.

Nice idea about heroic intervention, that's something which might make people use them for an actual practical reason. Sad to say but really it seems most of us have been swayed by their good looks only to find they have no real niche on the battlefield, hence they tend to underperform when given specialised roles.

Death company are still awesome and remain my favourite unit to play with, even though I am dropping them in favour of THSS termies for the time being. I'm not sure if they actually are the only non-scoring unit in 40k but now that all unit types are scoring, this is potentially more of a hindrance than in 6th ed.

The recent 7E codexes have had unique formation options with special bonuses that fit their fluff/rules (SW get outflank, GK get 1st round deep strike). I would love to see a BA specific formation in our new codex with some fluffy bonus.

Maybe "Razorbacks used as dedicated transports in this formation gain the assault vehicle special rule", or "Assault marine squads in this formation may assault the same turn they arrive from reserve" (am assuming VV will lose the 5E heroic intervention), or "Troop units in this formation may re-roll all 1s on their hit and to-wound dice during a turn in which they assault".
