Brilliant model choice for the inquisitor. I like the paint scheme, but i think the little motif on her chest needs another dose of highlighting, looks a little dull. Conversion work is seamless.

I know! I know, but I can't do anything about it! It just doesn't turn out the way I'd like, I don't know why. Those bits are cursed or something. And thank you! smile.png

Here are images of the finished mini, with her skull-friend, and a base. I decided to make such a 'flat' base to make her visually lower. If she' stood on a regular base and on the rock (which I didn't date to remove), she'd seem too high when standing amongst marines.

The base turned out exceptionally well, at least that's how I feel. I'll try and make more of those for my other characters.

I have to say that this was an interesting project, which gave me a lot of satisfaction and an opportunity to breathe. It was nice to paint something other than black armour for a change.

Cheers!

These guys look great! My only constructive criticism would be on your faces, it seems like you put on significantly more paint than on the armor. How are you painting your faces? Are you watering down the skin colors at all?

Other than that, you have a really incredible force of Black Templars. Seriously, that wall of heavy armor just blew me away!

I really hate to say this but...

Love the details you've added. Actually like your BT.

Two gripes though (really sorry).

Drill your gun barrels. That look so much better when done.

Put another, smaller highlight at the top edges on the armour plates. Will give it a bit more direction to light.

And best of luck with your vow. Though I hope we dance on Imperial corpses ;)

Thank you very much!

The barrels are drilled, it's just difficult to see them, there's no paint in them yet. And I might add that additional highlight, but doing the 2 layers is already tedious and time-consuming. So, every time I paint, I have this inner struggle. I'm also considering thinning the lines, but I'm not sure I want to do that. I kind of like thick highlights, especially from a 'gaming perspective,' but finer lines look better in photos.

When it comes to faces, I do water them down. But the problem maybe is that I never got any other skin-toned paint. I use dwarf flesh, mixed with other paints to get lighter/darker tones. And I can't seem to hit the eyes with my brush which is all that apparent in the close-ups.

That Castellan looks ready to slap the taste out of somebody's mouth, fantastic stuff.

The little freehand inscription on the back of his leg armour is a nice detail too! thumbsup.gif

ETL progress update.

I started working on my venerable dreadnought. I don't know why, but don't feel like finishing anything. It's better to stop a given project at 70%, do another one to 70% an then consider finishing both. Duh...

Legs have one layer of highlights.

And the top and bottom dry-fitted together.

It's a bit messy, but I'm trying out a new "messy" approach. The idea is to trade quality for speed in the initial stages, and after doing most of the job get back to the imperfect places: to redo slips of the brush; to make the lines finer etc.

Thank you deathspecter for the comments! I truly appreciate that.

Here's a further update on the Marshall.

As I decided to drop the tabard, I added a cross on a chain. That's pretty BT, isn't it?

The arms are magnetized, so that in the future I can give him other weapons, if I facy. Here's a quick shot of how he'll look when finished. The arms still need some work:

A follow-up on the marshal. I wanted to try and make something similar to the 360* spin images GW has on their website. Well, without the proper tools and knowledge, I had to settle for a rotating gif teehee.gif

http://cdn.makeagif.com/media/8-20-2014/nB493o.gif

Future ones, if any, will be better. I learned my lesson: I have to watch the focus more closely and find another rotating base, as this one is mounted on top of a screw and it raised slightly after finishing the spin. I wanted to share this, nonetheless. Hope you like it.
