Static was the only response. The strike cruiser "Infinity's Master" was slowly recovering from the data overload attack that it suffered over the skies of the red planet.

 

Praetor Strom threw down the vox mic. "This damn interference is playing hell with the system, we need to increase speed and get back to terra!"

 

"Lord, we are currently only able to attain 5% sub light speed, until the interference clears any attempt at a faster speed will fry our systems." The helmsman's frustration was a barely contained rage.

 

"Current estimates put us at over an hour before Terran orbit can be made, who knows what other manner of abominations the fabricator General has plagued our vessel with?"

 

At that moment all lights went dark, all systems flickered and faded, across all decks life support, engineering, gun decks, magazine and the bridge. All went dark.... At that moment the warp drive went active and with a screech.

 

And as soon as it had begun power was restored.... Warp space transitioned to the cold void of normal space. A black vessel of astartes origin came into view.

 

"Unknown vessel this is seventh legion strike cruiser "Infinity's Master" identify yourself or be fired upon!"

 

"Run out the starboard guns and get me firing solutions, we do not know whether they are friend or foe." Strom growled.

 

"Navigation find out where in the seven Hells we are!"

[Open scene; A single legionary stands before you in glistening MKIV plate, his pauldron is adorned with the palatine Aquila, the backdrop is a Deep crimson canvas. Around his feet are the scattered parts of what seems to be the remains of child sized spinal cords and what appears to be a females ribcage and cracked collar bone]

 

 

 


 


The cracked mirror holds true to perfection, that which is obtainable holds no grandeur. But that which is destroyed and can never be reclaimed is the sweetest delicacy of all.

Only those that heard the symphony that was the Maraviglia can truly comprehend the broken bodies and minds that my orchestra share, world after world has burnt to fuel our song. But still we can not obtain that which we seek.

I crave not the simplistic stimulations of narcotics or mutilation or depredation that most of my brothers now chase, I wish just once again to feel the purity of the song, and feel sustained for just another moment.

But nothing works... as much as we try to recreate the stimulation and the heights we felt we can not replicate it, so worlds will burn, children will scream, men women children xenos all will be used to add to our chorus & the search will continue.
The cracked mirror is all that matters, and it's a cruel twist of irony that I seek that which I know I'll never attain.

But to be on a fools quest is to be human.

Duty. That word again. Duty. What could one man say about that topic in these times?

 

The Emperor's own sons had abandoned that pure virtue for "loftier and more noble ideals." However, my Liege still knew of his place and calling and set about it with no thoughts of alternate paths, which would have made Lord Dorn proud.

 

 

"Squire Faber, keep up the pace. You know as well as I do how the Lion takes to tardiness, allons-y! You will have plenty of time aboard the Raison d'etre to contemplate the tasks ahead."

 

 

"Yes my Liege."

 

 

Ahh, what a fitting name for a fine ship. When the Emperor had repurposed that relic in the naval shipyards above Jupiter, he must have seen the humor in assigning that name to a vessel of the First Legion. Our "reason to exist" was to serve mankind, no duty, no ideal, no oath, was more honorable than that. Flashy ideals of the future lead only to bitter hearts. My father, of the Old Religion, told me long ago to not plan too far into the future: "You hear that son? That silence? That is the sound of God laughing as you make plans."

 

 

Ride master Gerard came to a full stop in front of the Invincible Reason's bulkhead, the air cloying with the sharp, bittersweet smell of incense from the nearby chapel-barrack. His noble face with sharp, angular features and trimmed salt and pepper mustache regarded me with those cold grey-green eyes. I felt as though I could not hide from that gaze behind his heavily modified mkV 'Paladin' helm that I bore between my rheumatic human hands as someone befitting my position.

 

 

"Squire Faber."

 

 

"Yes my liege?" I replied meekly, feeling some sort of gravitas as we prepared to enter the presence of the Lion.

 

 

"I think our role in this...rebellion," Gerard's words were visibly distasteful as he almost spat them out, "may soon be coming to a head. I fear that I will have to soon fight against those I held in high regards. Some...even family."

Here's where I'm at now, I still need to do personal heraldry, chipping, and weathering.

 

 

I'm thinking just brown gravel as it will contrast with the armor. Or do you guys have other ideas for basing? :D

It's looking great brother, just wondering on a slight highlight for the black? Maybe storm vermin fur.

I'm currently awaiting my first order from FW for my EC so soon brother soon I'll be updating

 

I hope so brother...but as you know, the first legion is used to operating on its own without any other legions help for a while...:P
