I've been thinking about modelling Ophion since the day I got a book. There's a picture in 6th book - falling ship with cloaked astartes in a middle of a space battle. As I understand, it's Ophion, or at least, how I would imagine him. Model wise, I'm pretty sure it's terminator lord, So my idea is to take terminator lord's cloak, MK3 Praetor, cataphractii terminator axe and night raptor head. Maybe Praetor's armor is to ornate, since Ophion has only power armor, but that's what I'm going to try once I'll get all required bitz.

What up murderers! So I'm still doing that medieval theme for my night lords and I've come across the perfect model for my commander, the Templars very own emperor Champion. He's got a very knightly feel to him and I think his armor matches what a Terran would wear. However he steel looks incredibly regal. Any ideas on how to make him more brutal?

Having just painted one, I know what you mean about regal. My suggestions would be to switch the hand holding the sword for maybe holding a severed head or something like that, while then placing the sword (or other weapon) held down a bit in his other hand. Then see about somehow changing the design on the right pad, and then with a good paintjob he'd be brutal enough. Skull marking on the helmet. Maybe a trophy or other around the place.

Edit, and maybe the wreath. Could work with, but could work without.

Not related to the current topic of discussion, but I thought everyone might appreciate this:

:D

@Kaldoth, After being immersed for a lifetime in mushroom culture, I really appreciated that one !

I was surprised to find that GW are still selling the Night Lords Hero in metal. Plenty of good detail, but oooh that FRUIT BAT on the head ! Still, it may come in useful for a large vehicle later. Hope my plasticard/GS solution works to general satisfaction - here is my starting point:

I am planning a second Chosen squad (i.e. in addition to my Terror squad brought into 40K), and this Hero can be a good element. Here is the completion, with a cape of skins that caused me much aggrevation.

On balance, I think that this marine is easier to work in metal than he would be in Finecast, as there are too many bits that could warp. Open to views on that too.

I must find out how to post smaller photos - the gallery pictures were much better at hiding my sins than big magification on small models !

Just thought I'd post up what will be my ETL vow for this year:

Any more when I see the couple of models that I have with "gangsta style" holding the guns, I think of this scene from Person of Interest:

I don't have horns or spikes on my marines (no hand holds for the enemy)

It's just being lazy on my part with the knife and I didn't want co cut up the gauntlet.

Saw this on Facebook today and thought it might interest my VIII Legion brothers. A Night Lords Daemon Prince, courtesy of Games Workshop Málaga.

I was thinking I might have to try and replicate it. It looks really cool, IMHO.

Night Lords Daemon Prince?! Pah, weakling brother who fell to the temptations of the chaos gods and became their slave...

But that looks pretty nice. I'm definitely stealing that blade design for...something. Maybe a contemptor.

Finally, after a loooooong wait, a Russian company called KFStudio has released the following Night Lords upgrade kits..

The quality looks good, but am I the only one seeing ork heads when looking at the helmets? :laugh.:

I don't see Ork heads, so much as another unfulfilled attempt to adapt bat physiology to power armored helm.  Don't get me wrong, I like them better than the ghastly bat signal helmets GW has, but they're still not for me.  The flayed skin bits are awesome, though :D

I think I'll pick up the trophies for uniqueness, and cos they are quite nice and moulded for PA, but the heads I'm less keen on. I'll probably grab a pack for variety, but I prefer FW ones.

Edit. If anyone wants them though, only 1 of each of the cloths and 2 head packs left seemingly. I plan to find out where he's selling that halfcloak on the painted guy on his facebook page though...

I think the first, third and fifth heads from the left are excellent, while the other two are pretty terrible -- if you need to stretch the anatomy of a skull so far that it ends up looking silly, you know your helmet's not gonna support that design choice ;)

But these are definitely a nice alternative/addition to GW's official conversion kits. Thanks for sharing!
