Here's a little something I've been planning to show you guys. As I've mentioned before, I started out as a Word Bearer player but could never find the right 'red'. Then a friend of mine asked me to repair and repaint his warhound. I did, and he was so satisfied that bought another one and asked me to do one more. In exchange, he bought me the Chaos Warhound I am currently working on as part of my first ETLiii vow. I was so ahppy with the recipe for the blue I used, that I eventually decided to start over and shift to painting Night Lords. I thought it would be nice to share the two warhounds I built and painted for my friend. Sorry for the bad picture quality - I had a different phone camera then and no photo booth at all.

Always impressed by your work bro!

Cheers mate!

Top notch work brother. It's always fun to see the art come to life like this.

Cheers! Happy you like it :-)

Fantastic work!

thumbsup.gif Thanks for your support!

Excellent job there. And knowing where to stop with the blood has worked really well.

I thank thee, Sir! Yeah after some experimentation I'm now satisfied with the technique.

Uh. When I skimmed through the thread and saw the raptors, I wondered 'why did he post 'Eavy Metal models?' So, as you may surmise, I think they look good.

The batwings still look silly though. tongue.png

That is a very impressive compliment there my friend. Thank you!!! eek.gif thumbsup.gif

OK here's an update on my ETLiii vow. The abhuman slaves squad (10 cultists counts-as with a flamer).

This project has been on my shelve for two years now. It was perfect fluff-wise for my old Word Bearers, but I lost interest after starting Night Lords. And it shows. Not my best painting by far. Now they're finally painted, based and finished, I'm warming up to them a little, so I'll probably (maybe) go over them for further detailing (teeth and eyes etc.). But for the ETLiii I declare them finished!

Entire squad

Just spent 20 minutes looking through this, thinking "Wow, just amazing". Then I found two titans on the last page and my mind was blown. Amazing Night Lords. I think you've just convinced me to start a PH Night Lords army.

Thanks T-rex! Also thanks for giving me all your likes for today thanks.gif

^^ Good choice Tyrannosaurus. We're where it's at thumbsup.gif

Augustus, buddy, those look great. Even a couple years ago biggrin.png

Cheers Flint. I admit I rushed them and I hereby vow that I'll spend at least three times as long on my own Warhound as I've spend on each one of these.

Nice Warhounds Agustus and ,no offence, even though they are good it's plain to see that you have improved over the years smile.png

I like the cultists aswell, maybe they could use a little more detailing as you said but they look solid. As I don't own a current codex I don't know how effective they are but in my mind cultists are sacrifical troops dying in big heaps so why spend too much time on them anyway? They will look very nice on the battlefield just the way they look now.

Finsihed the Cataphractii Terminators of my 1st ETL3 vow today.

Feedback most welcome!

Cheers mate. I definitely have improved over the years. Mostly thanks to new paints, techniques, and material I learned of on the interwebs - and last but most certainly not least from feedback from others, most importantly over here. So thanks to you and everyone else. thumbsup.gif

I'm a sucker for beastman cultists and I'm pretty sure yours are the coolest I've ever seen. I really love that flamer, which arms did you use to make it line up like that? (and where did you get so many pistols?)

Ha! The flamer simply has two beastmen arms. The left arm is the one that most looks like it's holding a weapon and the right one has a little GS work done to make the thumb. That's all. Simple but effective! biggrin.png

Finally, the titan pics have arrived.

Thanks to my friend and recently joined Frater Sea4nl for the final pics. thanks.gif He came all the way from Leiden to Amsterdam for the shoot. He's just started with the hobby - unfortunately with orks, so no pics here. He will remain a lurker though. You should see the amazing quality of his first EVER model - seriously it is so good. thumbsup.gif

The titan took me about two weeks to assemble - mostly due to drying time of the two component glue I use for resin and the waiting time for the right magnets. The following items are magnetized:

  • the six spikes (for easy transportation);
  • the legs+pelvis to the base (for when base doesn't allow the titan between scenery);
  • the legs+pelvis to the upper body (so the titan can turn in game);
  • the cockpit carapace (show);
  • the enginarium carapace (show);
  • the four weapon options and their two mounts; and
  • the void shields (so they can be removed and placed back in-game).

Painting took me about six evenings and about three whole days of painting.

Thanks to many visitors of my WIP thread, specifically Dragonkin Arenis, Yogi, TJWyrm, B E N, Forte, Barabbas Sogalan, MrBear and Flint13 for the feedback on the colour scheme. Also thanks Dragonkin Arenis for the amazing idea of making the titan part of Legio Ulricon, allowing the tie-in with my Night Lords and my decades long hatred of Dark Angels. The Princeps is named after you as a thank you. Thanks to TanHausen of the DA strategium for the awesome plan of including one of his termies on the base (i have yet to receive it, and because of the ETL deadline decided not to wait for it. But when I will get it, I shall inlude a deathwing termie on the designated place). Also, thanks to many of you who suggested names (unfortunately i cannot name you specifically because a warp storm deleted all your posts on May 22.) KrautScientist came up with the most awesome name suggestions and he will be awarded the prize of I believe it was 1500 internets? I don't remember. Finally, special thanks to Captain Semper for organizing the ETLIII, which gave me the motivation to finally start this project!

The name is as follows:

EXCORIATOR ANGELI

Imperial designation:

+++ Excoriator Hostem // 4th scout titan of the 3rd hunter maniple | Legio Ulricon +++

++ Known current designations | The Angel Flayer // The Swordbreaker // The Reaper of Fear ++

++ last recorded deployment | Thramas Crusade ++ last known princeps | Drachnin cel Arenis ++

+++ reputed to have fought alongside | Night Lords VIII Legion forces \\ 47th company | The Night's Reapers // Excommunicate Traitoris +++

OK, so here's the titan pics:

Hope you enjoyed. Feedback of course very welcome!!!! Let me know if you see any missed spots. I have to admit I kind-off hurried this project because of the ETL and because of the sheer size of the model may have missed some stages or spots here and there. Let me know! thumbsup.gif

Thanks again Sea4nl for the awesome pictures! thanks.gif

Looks great! Nice glow effect on the plasma.

Cheers mate!

Solid work as always. I quite like 'lack' of trophies, that Terminator armour shows their status anyway and I doubt that their victims find them less scary because they haven't got a ton of body parts on their armour smile.png

I agree. They used to have the three-spike bit from the regular CSM kit, but I decided to remove them all. They made them look too frolicky.

Very cool terminators. Love the skull facemask freehand, it's really eyecatching and characterful

Thanks mate!

You're welcome! biggrin.png

msn-wink.gif

Man that sure looks like a cool party in there! tongue.png

One word: Epic!

Cheers mate! The party is still raging (but nothing compared to the dace party that is currently infesting forte's thread... msn-wink.gif

I need to venture into the hall of honour more often. Bloomin amazing brother. Sheer awesome on a stick

Thanks brother! You're most welcome here and you should! I found a lot of inspiration in the HoH threads.

No joke, NO JOKE, this may be my favorite Warhound ever. Seriously jealous, and my hand hovers over the purchase link on FW's site BECAUSE OF YOU.

Do it!!!!! Seriously this titan was the most complicated and involved modelling project I've ever done and I had so much fun.

Only one thing I'm not too keen on and that's more a personal thing anyway. The airbrushed OSL (I've never been a fan of it so don't take it to heart). Fantastic otherwise. So much extra to spot too.

Cheers mate. Feedback always welcome, pros and cons. I understand how you feel but I'm just not patient enough for the 'real deal OSL'. IMO the extra effort into real OSL is not worth the added quality - but I'm a very lazy painter. If there's two methods with similar results I always go for the easiest one. Thanks for your support anyway buddy! I value your feedback, especially because you are such an acomplished painter yourself. thumbsup.gif

So pretties....

Go buys it yourselfsies!

Thanks to TanHausen of the DA strategium for the awesome plan of including one of his termies on the base (i have yet to receive it, and because of the ETL deadline decided not to wait for it. But when I will, I shall inlude a deathwing termie on the designated place).

Darn, you saw through my ruse...circles withing circles: make the promise of a model, forcing you to fail your ETL vow!

Seriously, I'll write you a PM when the package is out, but it'll be THE THIRD time I'm going to the post: I missed the office by minutes once, another time I was actually lifted the envelope (yes: somebody stole an evelope with several OOP terminators I was sending you)...

Boy is that titan cursed!

Congrats on a great model!

I'll readily admit that I am normally not all that interested in Titan models, but I still recognise this as an amazing piece of work! You've really gone above and beyond in the attempt to tie this model together visually with the rest of your Night Lords, and the effort was very well spent. A stunning piece of work!

Oh, and the knowledge that I did my small part in naming this beast certainly beats the 1,500 Internets by way of reward, but I appreciate the sentiment, of course ;)

There's one teeny tiny bit of criticism, though: While I am not at all bothered about the airbrushed OSL (since it looks rad and I can also totally get behind your explanation about being a lazy painter), I think the one area where it doesn't work all that well is the eye on the ...erm crotch plate: Maybe it's the fact that it seems to lack depth, but that's the one area that seems unfinished in an otherwise stunning paintjob.

Anyway, amazing work! The Cataphractii are not nearly spiky enough, though ;)
