Thanks for the kind words, everyone :)

@ The Psycho: Thanks, buddy. I've yet to come across him in detail in the HH series, but I'm not that much of an avid reader of it, so it might take a while :tu:

@ KBA: Haha thanks? Pills plus paint sounds amazing, except I thought it best to skip painting while I was on tramadol. That stuff is awesome for pain relieve, tripping out, and getting the best night of sleep in years, but it sucks for fine motor control. ;)

@ BrotherJim:  Ha! The banner is part of the original model! I only added paint. ;)

@ Pyroclast91: Wooooo it's almost time indeed! I''m working on the Biker Captain and a squad of bikers atm :O

@ KrautScientist: Oh please! Bandscheidenvorfall is easy peasy to pronounce! We call it 'tussenwervelschijfdislocatie'. Try saying that three times! ;) If you can´t, don't worry, as the colloquial Dutch term is simply ´hernia´ :tu: About Pollux's face: your skin tutorial was actually a big help in painting him - which is prbably whi he turned out quite pale. But as the Imperial Fists are a space born chapter, I thought it more apt. Thanks for the get well wishes! :)

@ Stercus: Thanks, buddy! High praise!

@ The Psycho: Thanks, buddy. I've yet to come across him in detail in the HH series, but I'm not that much of an avid reader of it, so it might take a while

Ah. You misunderstand me, old boy. I meant he's my favorite model in FW's Character Series of models, and I really like how you've painted him.

Anyways, bikes next, eh? Coolio. Something to look forward to.

Ha! Alright, bikers ho!

I've enrolled in the Tale of 20 hobbyists event, and vowed a bike heavy list in there. So I should start cracking!

I'm excited to start building and painting bikers again. Their large surfaces make for excellent space to put details and gubbins, and provide canvasses for some excellent colour schemes. I'm going to paint these in the paint scheme I use for all assault marines, with black bodies and yellow pads, knees, heads and packs.

These are pictures of biker squad number one, or I think I´ll call them Squad V of the 5th Company.

And here's individual shots of all bikers. Obviously I've used a lot of the Dark Vengeance kit on these. I like those, as they're not so Dark Angely as to make them unusable for other chapters. All sergeants and the command group in the army will be using the DV bikes, while the specialists and normal bikers will be using normal SM bikes.

ALL OF THESE MINIATURES REQUIRE NAMES like all my Imperial Fists. If you have suggestions, please feel free to let me know!

Biker Weapon Specialist

Nothing fancy on this guy, just a MkIII Breacher helmet to make him look cool.

Biker Sergeant

This sergeant uses the normal DV biker, with a MkII plumed helmet and some other gubbins to make him that extra bit special.

Biker Weapon Specialist

This guy uses the DV plasma gunner upper body. I carefully removed the plasma gun sans the shoulder rest, and replaced it with a grav gun. I don't imagine grav weaponry gives recoil to require a shoulder rest, but rool of cool!

Aaand here's my Biker Captain with fistyclaws. It's funny how this is the third time I've made this kind of conversion - my Night Lords and Plague Marines also have a fistyclaw Lord on Bike that are basically made in the exact same fashion! He uses parts from the DV sergeant (obviously), the devastator, BaC and vanguard kits, as well as the backpack from the Deathwatch Sergeant Cassius

Now, I'd like your opinion on something - I normally do not have unhelmeted marines because, well, frankly they're ridiculous. But after painting Alexis Pollux last week I realized how and that having a bare head adds a lot of character to a space marine miniature. So I what should I do? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.

That's it. That's all I have. I hope it wasn't too disappointing. I will see you on the FW tour. Until then, take it ea-..........

(the first to get this reference and explains it in the comments will get a bits drop sent to him/her. )

Thanks for leaving a comment. Seriously guys and gals, I´m sorry I haven´t been too productive or prolific on this forum and particularly in this thread. Life is a roller coaster right now - a good mix of :smile.:  and :sad.:, mind you, but in both direction way more intense than normal. The hobby remains a form of relaxation to me though, and your comments and feedback and C&C really motivate me to do it more. I really do appreciate any and all comments, and as you know reply to all of them.

Cheers!

Oh, right! :biggrin.: Well, seeing as it's one of your fave models, I'm even more happy you like him! Thanks, buddy! How do you like the marines on mopeds?

Edited by Augustus b'Raass

And surprisingly from me, I fancy the captain more without his helmet than with it.

Can't agree with you more. Without the helmet looks good, even if I'm quite firmly in the "no bare heads" camp.

@ Dosjetka: AND WE HAVE A WINNER! (grmbl grmbl first bloody reply, was it that obvious? But well done! :laugh.: )  PM me your address, and a package will find it's way to you, sir!

@ deathspectersgt7: Well, the pain meds I had were almost awesome! I slept like a baby!

@ SanguiniusReborn: Are you kidding me? Of course you can name another one! The squad will eventually consist of five guys (I'll build another communications specialist and a regular biker later), so you go ahead and claim one of them and do your squad magic. ;) :tu:

@ Knight of the Raven: No magnets there. I never do that, because why deprive myself of the opportunity to paint more stuff? Maybe for trasnport purposes it is a good idea, but I usually pin the crap out of everything anyway. The gun is pinned to the arm, the arm pinned to the body. The pins are superglued while the plastic around the pins are bonded with polysterine cement. You could throw these things against the wall and they wouldn't break. Figuratively. ;) Also, I know right? On the head. :O

@ Dosjetka: Aaargh, this is difficult. I want this guy to be Landa on a bike, so the helmet is kind of iconic. On the other hand, I could just hang the helmet from a chain on his belt....

Well, that's certainly not a reference I would have gotten. :P

Bike squad's looking good, man. I particularly like the Sergeant, he looks lovely. As for biker Landa... hmmm. I want to say helmet, but I think I prefer the look of the bare head honestly.

Haha! Excellent! I shall have a think on who I'd like to claim, that Sergeant is very, very tempting with that gorgeous Mk.II Helmet and the potential to go all Sergeant-Major again but I'm concerned nabbing a second Sergeant model might be a bit greedy...

Well, that's certainly not a reference I would have gotten. :tongue.:

Tell you what Psycho, if you want him you can name the Sergeant and I'll faithfully back you up as the Mk.III Breacher-helmed Biker, whadda ya say Sarge?

Tempting... very tempting. Right ho, then. I'll try and think up a suitable name.

Excellent! Then I shall therefore lay claim to 5th Company's newest member, Biker Weapon Specialist Ulrich Gottfried.

Although the idea of that future Vox specialist has me tempted now... AAAARRRRGGGHH *headdesk*

ALright, some more work done on my Tale of 20 Hobbyists vow: I did an additional biker - the comms specialist. And the sergeant for one of the devastator squads.

Here's the biker comms specialist:

Being a specialis, I couldn't have him holding the steer handles with both hands. Initially, I had him pointing to something, but that didn't look right. SO now, I have him reaching for his bolt pistol. Whaddayafink?

The devastator squad I'm planning to do will be ten man strong, and will have 4 heavy weapons, a sergeant, two guys with banners, a comms specialist who I can use as a signum sergeant when I field them as two separate squads, and two normal guys, probably a 'sniper' (a bolter dude with a shoulder shield and a scope) and a spotter (a guy with extra optics and a pointing hand).

And here's the Devastator Sergeant. The reason why he has a techmarine body is, well, is because I have too many techmarines. Last year around this time, I had a bit of a tachmarine craze. Suddenly I thought they were the coolest space marine characters. So I bought all of the different kinds ever made, and then some. Which results in me now having about five left, and I thought it'd be cool to use one of them as a 'normal' character, like a sergeant.  I think I'll write some fluff on him so as to explain his appearance. Perhaps he's getting into the whole 'cult mechanicus thing' and is preparing for his internship on Mars or something. If anyone has any ideas, let me know.

His signum is made form two scope-y bits I got from KrautScientist in a bits drop last year, glued on the rear part of a searchlight from the SM vehicle sprue.

I hope you like them! Feedback as always, very welcome. Seriously: yuor comments make me go!

Replies:

@ Dosjetka: Great idea. I'll do both and post him with both when he's painted. You can then choose. :)

@ Teetengee: Cheers, it's difficult, eh?

@ The Psycho: Thanks! I added some more gubbins to the sergeant in the meantime. I know about the helmetless dude. Why is it that space marines look cool without helmets? The idea is retarded. Space Marines without helmets are like the Bee Gees: The idea of white guys going "Hiiii hiiiiii hiiiiiii hiiiiiiii Staying Alive" is ridiculous, but the realization of the idea is awesome. ;)

@ guardian31: Good point. I'll try some different helmets. Thanks! :tu:

@ Mechanist: Good point too. I'll do that!

@ SanguiniusReborn: Come on man, you can go more original than those stereotypical Germanic names! You still want the weapons specialist or will you switch after seenig the comms dude? ;)

Bah, I suppose you're right, gimme a bit of time to brainstorm and I'll get back to you with a new name. And come on Augustus, you know as soon as you put that sweet Mk.II helm on him I'd want him more than a heretic craves the cleansing fire of absolution! :D

@ GrandMagnus: But, but, he's not a techmarine! It's funny how often I notice few people actually read what I write alongside WiP pictures. I'll take that as a compliment though  He's actually meant to be a devastator sergeant.

@ SanguiniusReborn: OKOK you can switch names AND combat roles.

@ DuskRaider: Excellent idea! It doesn't matter that I play him in with 40K rules, as this IF army is situated roughly in the 32nd Millenium, fluff wise. Hence the plethora and mix of older armour marks. :tu:

Idk why I'd never thought of using the tech marines as anything other than tech marines. I think I actually have that same body laying around somewheres. So I very welll may be forced to shamelessly copy you brother. Awesome work as always
