That sounds familiar

Seriously though, I've always thought that the Chaos range offered the best opportunities for hobbyists to flex their skills in conversion and painting. It is here that GW always outdo the, selves with the product.

Most definitely. I've never been comfortable building stuf right out to fthe box. I don;t think I've ever built a model without at least a small bit of tweaking or adding to. It's the reason I kept with Chaos ffor so long - I never thought it possible with loyalists. I proved myself wrong. Or rather, I was greatly inspired and encouraged to experiment with loyalists by everything on this forum - and it worked out well. :)

That's a very nice shade of red.

Thanks! It's also very easy: It's FW Word Bearers Red shaded with GW Rhinox Hide, and highlighted with GW Squig Orange. :tu:

I can always appreciate a good juggerlord. Nice job!

Thanks buddy! Yours was a great inspiration!

Dude, the speed at which you crank models out is :cussing insane. Do you even sleep?!

Cheers, guys.

For the Imperial Fists Expansion I made one last, final vow± a Librarian on a bike. He´ll be part of a librarian conclave.

Comments welcome. I think he´s still missing something, but can´t really put my finger on it. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

It was a good thing I swallowed my coffee before I opened the spoiler lol.

Haha good. I was joking: I do sleep a lot. The only reason I got to be so productive the last couple of weeks was because I couldn't do my job because of my injury. I've been doing some on-again-off-again standing painting sessions the last couple of weeks. I'm getting better now, and have been promoted, so hobby productivity will most likely drop significantly in a couple weeks. Until that time: weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Ahhh I thought it may be so. Great work all the same

Thanks, buddy! Greatly appreciated from a Khornate Icon such as yourself. :)

I love how the jugger lord turned out, you managed for him to even look kind of noble :-P the librarian also looks good but... Imperial scum. And certainly not comparable with the brazen greatness of a juggernaut lord!

The jugger lord is looking ace. The claw/fist combo has always seemed slightly awkward to me from a purely visual perspective, but you have done a good job with that chain to alleviate this concern. I also kinda like the blue fists, although it seems to me that they should actually emit some kind of diffuse blue glow on their immediate surroundings.

On another note, I remember when you mentioned how painting bare faces wasn't your strong suit -- and just look at you now! Excellent stuff! :smile.:

EDIT: Looking at the model on a bigger screen now, I also realise the juggernaut's eyes could be a bit brighter to add a point of focus to the head. Just my two cents...

Maybe a book somewhere like around his waist? Or some keys? Those things tend to be on most of the librarians I have seen.

Thankas, that's good advice. I'll see if I can find a book somewhere, though I fear I used up all of them on my previous CHaos army, the Word Bearers, which I've sold a couple years ago :o

Thanks buddy. Yeah the noble look comes from that excellent head bit. It's by far my favourite chaos bare head of all time.

Thanks! Yes! I have kind of improved on face painting. Although having an airbrush helps A LOT! I agree on the fistyclaws combo´s awkward look, but I think I made use of their ´handyness´ with the reins. :) I'll see what I can do on their OSL, although I'm kind of moving away from that, atm. Perhaps I should try it without the airbrush. Thanks for the comment on the jugger's eyes. I'll see to their brightness. :tu: Your comment helped a lot in perfecting the model - what a surprise! :D

Great job on the newest rendition of yourself, he looks very intimidating!

Cheers, Atia!

That Jugger lord is a beaut! Like how you've pulled off the fist/claw combo.

The base is really nice too.

Cheers! Yeah the reins helped a lot. I remembered how to properly hold reins from a very brief stint at horseback riding when I was a wee teenager. I'm very happy that that experience paid off somehow. :)

Excellent stuff. The Jugger Lord is great and, as others have said, you made the pose/armament quite believable.

Cheers, Kierdale! Much appreciated from a master modeller such as yourself!

Oh, I definitely see why you would be moving away from OSL effects that are too conspicuous! Which is why I think actually doing the effect with the brush might just be the solution here: Nothing too flashy, just a careful glazing of the areas immediately surrounding the blue parts to carefully build up a subtle glow.

Finishing the Juggerlord and playing two 1250 Khorne Daemonkin games recently, I'm very m,otivated to work on that army for a wee while. So I've put together one of the three ten-man Khornate Chaos Space Marine squads with CC weapons and two meltaguns, using ten SoH Reaver bodies I bought cheap off eBay about two years ago.

The Reaver bodies for some reason are very small, so putting any kind of helmet on them will look incredibly wonky. I briefly considered putting Chaos Warrior helmets on them, but found out I used up all of my reserves for the Night Lords squad I painted two weeks ago. Bugger. I started looking for other small helmets, but couldn't find any. Then I though - hey, berzerkers go to battel helmetless to show bravery, why not these Khornate Space Marines? I gained some confidence in my skills of painting faces lately, so that's what I'm going to try. Prepare for bare-headed marines!

I also have some news on the hobby front: I bought these awesome, awesome storage systems for my paint pots. Seeing as I'm living alone and can work in the living room now, I decided to move my bed to the big spare room that has served as an office/hobby room, so I have a smallish room 3mx3m spare, which I will convert into a proper mancave. :D To treat myself, I bought four sets of these storage system - more than enought to encompass all my paints. :tu:

I'll try that! Any advice on glazing techniques/mixtures, etc?

Auggi (the third of his name) looks great :smile.:

Also cool Librarian conversion - is it just a finecast Libby cut up and glued on top of the ravenwing legs? Looks great ^.^

Haha, I like that. ;) Yeah the conversion is just as you described. Although because I needed his left hand to be at the steering bar, and the DV biker sergeant has it on the right, I had to switch the entire front wheel+steering bar+arm ensemble with one of the normal DV bikers. It's easier than you think :tu:

Helmetless berzerkers FTW! :smile.: Although I could probably send you a chaos warrior helmet or two, if you need them. Some of the Wrathmonger helmets are also fairly delicae, come to think of it.

Regarding the glazing, while I am far from an expert on the matter, the one approach that has worked incredibly well for me so far is to just choose a paint, mix it with Lahmian Medium (about two thirds Medium and one third of the actual paint) and then paint several layers around the area I want to have the glow effect. The farther away areas just get one pass, while I build up the effect towards the source of the light. The effect can be seen really well on my base for Daemon-Primarch Angron

I've also used the same approach for subtly glowing buttons inside the cockpit of my Renegade Knight, though.

That's great advice, buddy! Thanks a bunch.

Also thanks for the offer of the helmets, but keep them (for now?). I have plenty, plenty of helmets and regular sized bodies to go with them for the immediate future. :tu:

The reavers' bodies are too small? So much for "muh FW is purfect waaa."

I like the librarian. Can't say the same for the juggerlord since I don't care for that color scheme for a juggernaught and I never found 'fisticlaws' to look good.

Also, put a seizure warning before that Spongebob "sleep is for the weak" spoilered gif. I looked at it one second five minutes ago and my eyes still hurt, I can't imagine what it'll do to someone with epilepsy or something similar.

I never said that.

I´m glad, thanks! :smile.:

Sorry to hear that.

No.

Looking forward to seeing those Marines done, always liked the Reaver bodies, although I'm curious just how much smaller they are. Also love the paint rack, gonna have ti get myself one of those sometime.

Also, is Atia now a compliment? :tongue.:

Thanks, Trysanna, and Atia is, which is why I mixed her up with you ;) I only have 12 reaver bodies, so I'm not planning on more dudes. :tu:

I finished one half of the first Khornate Space Marines. I'm slowing down a bit, as my back is still killing me. :(
