Even though it looks great as it is I think that everything you did in gold would looks better in black, changing the trim to silver in the gorget at painting the kneepads in yellow to make it contrast more. However in gold it is also very cool, I guess it is a matter of personal taste.

Cataphractii terminators truly make all other lightning claws bearers look like chumps.

Lovely devastators and assault marines there. Love the black color scheme of the latter. Totis Adors sporting a fleur de lys is hilariously appropriate.

Veteran sergeant Targus Vor is my favorite. Such a killer look, in more than just one meaning of the word.

The artwork that you posted earlier shows a dull, steely gold, and your new approach picks this up excellently to get both the bling and contrast. First Company are coming on very well.

Looking forward to the Black Hammers too!

Love the termy, claws look amazing, helmet has some really nice contrast, the trim is nice and distinct and the black help break up the model really nicely.

I'm not as keen on the chaplain, maybe its because there's a lot of beige all in one place?

Nice work on the Cataphractii, I really do love that pattern of armour! I really like how you are using the HH artwork from the Black books as a guide, I used the EC ones for my Tartaros and apothecary!

A little late to the party as I've been otherwise engaged, but I am glad you kept the gold trim, I often find base colours don't quite work until the wash/blacklining bits have been added. I do like to hit my golds with a lot of washes, after a brownish one a couple of thin glazes of purple tone really helps bring it out. I've had lots of woes with various gold recipes given I do EC, lately I'm using Warplock Bronze, thin layers of Retributor gold followed by the new glossy Agrax, I then hit it with highlights of VMC Gold, which is pretty damn bright, then the violet tint then maybe a silver final highlight. The gloss wash really helps with the 'black lining' I find.

I am thinking you might get a little more pop from starting off with a dark gold base and highlighting up, because the yellow of the armour is warm perhaps the gold should be a little colder to create contrast. The Scale 75 range Necro gold could be an idea, if you can get it. I almost brought their gold set the other day, but I resisted as I am currently happy with my golds.

Both the Limited Edition Chaplain (I was really glad to read about the name, by the way :) ) are looking fantastic! I will say that I think deep red would work better for the wax on the purity seals, but that's just me. The Cataphractii Terminator works really well with the white helmet, and the parchment replacing the pteryges is a delicious little touch. Personally speaking, I prefer plain silver lightning claws, as they lend the model a more utilitarian, workmanlike feel, but then I have to remind myself that you're actually using these as 40k Terminators, so a little extra bling of war seems in order ;)

On a related note, I really like how one of your twin LC Termies has almost the exact same pose I've chosen for one of my own Cataphractii (talking about with the wide open stance and "Come to daddy" pose).

Keep up the amazing work, buddy! :)

Wow! Thank you guys! For the huge amount of comments (much appreciated) and the support. The overwhelming majority of you seem to like this colour scheme, so I persevered and did another one today. Meet the sergeant (don't worry, when the squad is fully finished, I'll do a full fluffy post of them all. :)

Of course, seeing as the previous terminator had the wrong left arm, I painted the correct one, and added that. So here's the final pose:

Now, these are not quite finished yet - I aim to weather them with sponging and chipping - but I'll do that in one go when they're all finished to get the look as unified as possible.

Anyway, I hope you like this guy too and would love to hear any and all feedback you have for him. :) Is there anything missing, perhaps?

Cheers!

@ The Observer: Haha, thanks, buddy!

@ rednekkboss: Oh YES! I'm very happy to hear this, and am very much looking forward to what you do on them. Incidentally, do you have a tutorial somewhere wherein you explian how you do the greenstuff Nurglite pustules and gribblies with which you adorn your models?

@ Viarocanum: Thanks! I wasn't sure if I'd do them in metal or colour, but as Krauty pointed out, above, they aren't 30K anymore, so I love them to have a bit more contrast.

@ Sagentus: Cheers for that vote of confidence, mate. That nice of you to say.

@ The Traitor: Yu know what, that colour scheme is the exact one I was contemplating! I guess I chose gold over silver because I wanted the First Company to have a more regal feel to them.

@ MrBear: Exactly that, indeed. First Company brothers need a bit of bling, no?

@ Knight of the Raven: Ha! I couldn't agree more with your first statement, there! Also, I'm glad you like 'your' marine's fluff, but am a bit surprised it took you so long to read it!

@ Psykic_scribe: Cheers! Me too - unfrotunately they are a bit expensive and I'm strapped for cash atm...

@ SkimaskMohawk: Tanks for the feedback! Glad you like teh cataphractii, but sad you don't the chaplain. ;) I agree there's a lot fo beige, but that's mostly his cape. ANd for consistency's sake, his outer robes had to be beige...

@ Lord Commander Eidolon: I now you did, and it paid off for you too! It's funny nhow everyone is suggesting  to use a purple wash to add to the gold trim. I'm going to try it now. SClae 75 paints are indeed fantastic - a friend picked up their 'fire' set and those reds are absolutely gorgeous.

@ KrautScientist: He didn't have a name and your suggestion was perfect - so it's totally yours. If you have any fluffy suggestions (perhaps integrating him into your Eternal Hunt - my army is 32K themed, as you hopefully know, so he might have shad some altercations with Lorimar). Concerning the colour of the was on the purity seals: all my army's prity seal wax is purple, and I'm a bit of a stickler for consistency, so.... yeah. ;) 'Come to daddy' is indeed the sentiment I was shooting for. :D

@ Mechanist: Cheers! His sergeant's finished, now only two more dudes. :)

Yeah, it happened again. I started painting and got in the zone, and now I have no more cataphractii terminators to paint. Luckily tomorrow I'll get a new set of fie, so I can start on the squad with storm shields and thunder hammers. And it'll be HAMMER TIME

Anyway, without further ado, here's:

Veteran Sergeant - Chog'an Shan - deathspectresgt7

Despite being the only non-Terran of his squad, Veteran Sergeant Shan commands enormous respect among his peers. He has single-handedly saved all of their individual lives at one point or another in their long service record. Although all five veterans have served with each other and share a brotherhood stronger than plascrete, Shan's bond with brother Amn is the strongest. Both men have within them a sense of honour that goes far beyond that of the normal Astartes martial code. Where brother Amn's pride comes from his character, however, it is CHogán Shan's native planet's culture that is the source of his inner strength. Shan hails from Chicantar VII, a world brought into the ligth of the Imperium only 400 standard years ago. Shan was the first of the world'youth to ever be inducted into the chapter, after challenging a recruiting Chaplain to a fight to the death. He lost the fight, but was spared for his prowess and strength of will. He has served the Imperial Fists ever since, and is considered one of the oldest Astartes in the Chapter now.

Battle Brother - Alric Brandt - Viarocanum

A devout worshipper of the Emperor from birth, brother Brandt has always worn quotes and liturgies of the Lectitio Divinatus on his armour, scribed by himself in his crude hand. His faith brings him strength and a focus during battle. His deeds as an assault marine of Third Company have been so exemplary, that he was granted a position in First Company at the young age of 58. He has come to be a source of inspiration to the whole of V Squad, and they often seek his council in spiritual matters.

Battle Brother - Orlin Einhart - Guardian31

Hailing from the very lowest strata of Imperial society, brother Einhart, as former hive ganger, has been adamant that his service with the Imperial Fists is for the good of Imperial society - in that all men are equal in the eyes of the God-Emperor of Mankind. He has reached out to many of his battle brother from different worlds and different backgrounds, always finding commonalities between them, which he interprets as evidence of his ideologies. He has been under scrutiny by the Chaplains and has been subjected to reintegrated psycho-indoctrination several times. His prowess as an assault specialist and the strong bond with his squad-brothers has as of yet prevented him from being transferred to a battle company.

Battle Brother - Brodus Amn - Olis

Brother Amn quickly bonded with his battle brother in Fourth Company, brother Shan, with whom he served in the company's III Tactical Squad. Their bond was so strong that Shan refused a position in First Company until such time as his brother Amn was granted the same honour. A vindictive Astartes by nature, brother Amn refuses to yield in any challenge, be they a good-natured joke frmo his brothers, or a hostile stain on his honour from an enemy officer.

Battle Brother - Ardus Boltula, Baronet of the Vistavanian Mountains - DuskRaider

The ninth son of a lower aristocrat of the Atlantik wastes, brother Boltula's formal rank in Terran society is recorded in his personnel archive, but never formally used by the chapter. His brothers though, do use it as a callsign. The reason for this is that Boltula was inducted into the chapter with his extremely sophisticated bionic eye, and he was quickly mocked for his aristocratic accent and high-society mannerisms, some of which he has not been able to shake off. Initially, he compensated for this mockery with ganger-like hairstyles and a facsimile of raw language, but he regained his composure when he discovered his aptitude with the lightning claw. Now, six decades later he is a respected and well-liked mamber of First Company. He has retained his hairstyle as a reminder of his younger self, and to allow the morale-improving mockery to continue.

Mr b'Raass, as a long time follower of your stuff I thought I'd finally comment. I'm amazed at how productive you seem to be and to a very high quality. Every few days you seem to have pumped out a new squad which is always impeccably modeled and painted. Any tips for maintaining productivity?

Thanks, everyone! Those cataphractii are truly a joy to paint, and I can't wait to start work on the next five.

However, I only today ordered the five Imperial Fists storm shields from FW, so until they arrive, I'll start work on three Centurions. Because, you know, they're a great unit.

Wish me luck!

@ Olis: Haha, glad you took that as intended - I forgot the smily. About AMn: did you notice I wrote in the one-word fluff hint you gave?

@ deathspectresgt7: I know right? Go figure - you were one of the first to name a marine in my Imperial Fists army, way back in November 2015. Sorry you had to wait so long. If you want something faster, go here and pick an empty slot - I'll promise I'll do that marine asap.

@ The Traitor: What colour scheme doesn't favour masses? :biggrin.:

@ Hrolf the Cunning: Hey buddy! Glad you commented in here. I'm happy you like my stuff - if you're inspired y it, leave a comment more often, if you will. It's what keeps me (and this thread) going. :smile.: Your question is a bit difficult to answer, and needs some thought. If you want me to make a list of tips, let me know in a comment, and I'll be sure to do so.

@ guardian31: HAMMER TIME is upon us. SOon.

@ Caius_Karayan: You Raven GUard lot, being all sneaky-like. GLad you like my stuff buddy. If it inspires you, let me know with a comment - it's what keeps me and this thread going. :smile.:

@ KrautScientist: Hey, I'm glad you noticed. It's weird, but I actually think this squad could have used some more purity seals and stuff. Sadly, my supply is wearing thin, and a March 15 eBay purchase with about 100 different kinds of purity seal still hasn't arrived.... :sad.: Thanks for liking the Baronet - it's based on my experiences working for my current employer  You know what I mean, right?

@ GreyRavenC: I can't hep it, dude! I just keep rolling natural 20s on my speed-painting checks. As with my reply to Hrolf the Cunning's question, if you want me to make a list of tips that will increase productivity, let me know. If enough people want it, I'll give it some thought ad post an article or something.
