About the faceless head turning it into an unrelatable monster, I think that with the common use of the internet it is more and more frequent for us humans to stay anonymous, we chat in forums and sometimes even on social media with people which we don't know, and talk to them knowing that they don't know us either.... So, we actually can relate to a faceless being, we try (as a race) to be more faceless each day and thus, anonymity is spreading like a plague (this is where Nurgle comes in :P). Also, I like the creepy-as-hell smiley thin lifeless side of Nurgle much more than the disgusting and obese one, that's why I love so much the new poxwalkers, so him being a faceless monster as alien as possible to mankind is a very appealing concept to me for a nurgly DP.

Pd: lovely bloodletters.

Hurray! Tons of bits came in today for my Nurgle Daemon Prince: the exhausts for the jump pack, and the face!

I made a start with the jump pack:

And tried on the Ogre face to the body of the Nurgle DP:

and I am happy to find that it fits perfectly! Biohazard send me some pics of his work via PM, and I was much inspired by them - I'll probably be dremelling the lower jaw and hair away from that Ogre face, and replacing it with an opened Ork jaw.... OR! I could try the previous bear trap jaw....

Here's what I have planned. When I put the jump rockets next to the body, I noticed that they were a bit too big. So I'll probably cut more away from the plasma cannons' rear, about where I put the exhausts to the sides:

In other news, I managed to strip, repair, rebase and undercoat the second set of ten of a total of thirty bloodletters:

Thanks for looking. Ideas for the DP more than welcome!

@ Kordhal: Thanks! Twenty more incoming ;)

@ The Traitor: I agree with your reasoning (even if I don't fully agree with the premise of humans seeking anonymity) and found the nurgle twist amusing!

Well, maybe you could fuse the helmet with the bear trap? Like greenstuff the upper part to the mask but make the lower jaw look organic, as if sprouting from bellow. Either way I think that the bear trap is the way to go, an ork jaw would look... Well, too ork :P. Also, though B&C is not the place to discuss about philosophy, it may be true that the desire for anonymity varies widely between different people, as some prefer to post photos of them and other personal info (which is fine, maybe a bit dangerous, but fine if you are mildly careful). And damn, now I want to make a half tore appart daemon reflecting this discrepance for my Malal army...

Returning to the topic, I like the idea of using the ectoplasm cannons as a base for the jet pack, but the "plasma" bit (the one that is present in every plasma weapon and is usually painted in a glowing blue) is too recognizable for my taste, but I'm sure it would be pretty easy to cover it.

I can't wait to see this model take shape, I have a soft spot for DP conversions, and yours is promising a lot!

That face works perfectly can't wait to see which jaw you go for and I really can't wait to see how this model comes together.

As for the bloodletters they are coming along nicely and if they are painted like your last batch they will look ace!

Cheers, guys!

I did some work on the Jet Engines tpday - mostly getting the extra teeth in and test fitting the exhaust to the whole ensemble. Stuff is waiting to dry now, so I'll have to wait a couple of hours until both the glue and the greenstuff is dried enough to continue working on it. Here's what I got:

Teeth (using tyrannid claws)

and the exhausts:

Lemme know what you think! I am very open to suggestions on how to secure them to his body... I was thinking about using the pistons in Defiler legs, but anything is possible at this point.

Cheers!

@ The Traitor: No worries, the plasma will be covered with all sorts of nasty nurgle stuff. Think of what rednekkboss does.

@ Vairocanum: As dynamic as possible. he'll be swinging the massive skaven censer from the screaming bell kit, so that'd require a lot of momentum!

@ rednekkboss: Indeed I am! I've just secured basing the above guys :)

@ Sagentus: Unfrotunately the bear trap jaw is WAY too big for the face... I'll be going to have to sculpt a face, with a George Lucas-like nek. :)

That's coming along great bud. Those turbines are working well. The Defiler pistons would be a good shout. Like I said elsewhere the jaws I used were from the Savage orcs I'm sure. The Daemon Prince faces can be made to fit under there as well with enough dremelling. :tu:

The Turbines seem to be coming along nicely. As for how to attach them to the body, parts from sentinel legs and/or the magma cutter arms from the Forgefiend kit come to mind.

Regarding the facemask, Boarboy jaws should also work rather nicely -- I remember Biohazard sending me some leftover ones from one of his DP conversions way back when.

Anyway, really looking forward to seeing this guy take shape!

Gappie!! Don't have any tips or advice but those turbines look way too big if you ask me..Something that scale should blast him in outer space in stead of jumping along and slashing up silly emperorbeliebers.

Given his bulk, the thrusters actually strike me as quite realistically sized. Particularly if you are going to give him substantial legs (speaking of which, what are you planing for that?). Thick mechanical legs, perhaps reverse jointed, might look good.

As for the face, couldn't you dremel out the chin but leave the toothy faceplate as the upper jaw?

I think it might be a good idea to actually wait for the complete mockup of the model before finally deciding whether the turbines are too small, too big or just right. Making them smaller could always be achieved at a later date, for instance by losing the entire middle section.

As for the head, for what it's worth, I've done something similar with it on an older Khorgorath conversion, and I didn't even need a dremel to get rid of the ogre jaw.

I'm so looking forward to that prince. And to be honest, I would leave the lower jaw as it is, just get rid of the hair. It looks nurgly enough and the guy seems to be a bit chubby anyways.

There were so many good suggestions from others so far, I really don't envy you for picking a decision :biggrin.:

Alright, the overwhelming consensus among you that have given feedback and commented is that the turbines are way too big. So I shortened them yet (jet?) again. I've also created a mock up - which is blutacked together and lacks the defining source of movement: the giant censer he will be swinging from behind with his right hand.

Here's pictures:

Lemme know what you think. I'm actually glad I did this mock-up, as I am ow determined to make it into a daemon-like jump pack instead of a jetpack like thing.

Cheers!

@ Eldrick Shadowblade: Thanks! But nah, I'm going for the jump pack feel, not a jet pack, so those won't be necessary.

@ Biohazard: Cheers. I'll be using some kind of jaws. Unfortunately the savage orc jaws are sold out everywhere I look.

@ KrautScientist: Cheers, all good ideas, but I don't think an extended thing will be necessary. Thanks for lookign and commenting. :tu:

@ hushrong; Haha good on you - laps are good for the body and the soul. ;)

@ Thousand Eyes: I agree with the size. How about now?

@ Nemac Vradon: Cheers. Legas now attached and turbines slightly shortened. Whaddayafink?

@ misterkho: Gozert! Well technically he is from outer space. Also, thanks for closing my browser tab when I was still working on this post, so I had to rewrite everything. :p

@ BCK: Huh, I thought the pics of the turbines next to the body on the hobby cutting board with the cm squares behind it were enough to relate the size and scale. How about the size reduction?

@ Teetengee: I'll be using the standard Nurgle DP legs.

@ KrautScientsit2: That korgorath siggestion was actually very valuable - I have that model somewhere and will be using it as a base for one of my three future Death Guard Helbrutes! Hurray!

@ Aasfresser: Cheers!

@ Sagentus: DO it!

I think he is looking great, but a part of me can only see the turbines as guns. Mostly they look like the jet packs for the new raptors, but maybe because the tops were sourced from the forgefiend guns it is throwing me off. Are you planning on using organic or tech bits to connect the turbines to his back?

Cheers. I hope that once I clot the plasma coils with Nurgle GribbliesTM (a term coined by rednekkboss), it'll look more like a proper Jump Pack. I'm plannign to make a jump-pack-like middle section using mostly techy parts, but correupted with fleshy shenanigans.
