That Raptor is sweet. Im waffling between one of those or a Spartan right now... or two Anvilus... decisions decisions.

@Augustus Cheers man, I've been around for a bit, but I tend to go long periods without posting. :D

Alright, gang. The Fire Raptor is almost finished. Just some streaking and rust lining to do and we're done!

Here's a taste:

Please excuse the crappy lighting - my new phone has a much suckier camera, and the fire raptor is actually a bit too big for my light box....

Thanks for looking and your comments :smile.: If there's anything I missed or you think shuold be done, let me know!

Replies!

@ Bjorn Firewalker: Cheers! Glad you like it. And come on, admit it, the flesh trophies look awesome :tongue.:

@ rednekkboss: Thanks, buddy! Glad you like him! How's miss Charlotte? Did you finally finish her?

@ hushrong: Yeah it's cool. I just have an older model, which has no USB-C nor fingerprint recognition... and it's crap! Camera is :cusstier too. My client lives about 8000 miles away, sadly. So plenty of time to play around - plus I need to do another Land Raider, a Spartan and a Storm Eagle for him, so that gives me time too.

@ BubblesMCGub: Thank you! Almost done...

@ Sagentus: Cheers - buy an airbrush and get a system! That's al there is to it :smile.::thumbsup:

@ Ranker: Glad you like this one too!

@ CaptainStabby: Well, welcome anyway! Also: why not all three?

@ The Traitor: Cheers! Yeah, it does, doesnt it. A sleek, mean, gunship-machine?

I'll try to take better pictures of the finished Fire Raptor when I'm less hung over.

There's also been a start of the second Land Raider. I'm trying a new paint order where I paint all base colours that need a Agrax wash first and then wash them all at once - saving time.

Looks lik a promising start!

@ Nemac Vradon: Cheers, buddy!

@ Warsmith Onyx: Thank you! And yeah, the helmets provide for some colour vairation. :smile.:

@ Wolf_Priest_Dantay: Ah but Talos is from the first company, and mine are the 47th...

@ Bjorn Firewalker: Cheers!

@ Vairocanum: No problems. I hope you like this one as much as the last :biggrin.:

@ rednekkboss: Ooooh looking forward to that!

Dam Aug you are on fire man! you have built / painted more now (in a few weeks) mor ethan i did in a whole year :blush.: Hopefully change that this year and get a lot more done ;)

I recently tried to get all base colours done before washing the model and found it works really well and helps speed up the process some what :)

Sorry to hear about the phone! However the Fire raptor look amazing. You've convinced me about the airbrush. Ever think about putting together a youtube tutorial for your stuff? Bet you'd get a ton of subs!

Land Raider DONE!

Whoop whoop! This one, it being a classic model, was a ton of fun to paint. I particularly like the new way of mounting helmets, which I discovered during the building of the Fire Raptor. I imagine the Night Lords to skewer the helmets and skulls on above the ramp, when they enter the vehicle after a long night of raiding. :biggrin.:

Here's the pictures!

Crap, I realize now that I still need to do some smoke and soot around the exhausts!

So it still needs a little work, I realize! Please note that the Havoc Launchers, Search Light, and the Smoke Launcher are all magnetized to the hull, and that the Havoc Launcher can swivel vertically - so their positions are neither fixed nor in perfect order in these pics. I guess I was a bit too enthusiastic when taking these pictures, and I'll try to make some better once when I get home later today, includign some detail shots of the combimelta, which I converted from the standard SM vehicle kit and some meltaparts.

Anyway, this sees the final miniature of a three-vehicle commission I got from the client that bought a large amount of my Night Lords, in late November. He's so pleased with the result that he commissioned me to do another two - a Spartan and a Storm Eagle! That'll be a ton of fun.

But first, I will do another commission I got from the guy who bought most of the other half of my Night Lords - which will also be a Spartan - so two Spartans coming up in the next couple of weeks!

Cheers!

@ ChazSexington: Haha I guess they're all dead - with what their skin hanging from these vehicles and all....?!

@ Sagentus: You painted less than three vehicles in 2016? I cannot believe that! But I do hope you'll get more work done in 2018 for sure. I love to see what you come up with too. :smile.: Re: your point about washes: it really makes the process SO much faster!

@ Kizzdougs: Cheers, buddy! All the best to you, too! I plan on doing a couple more Night Lords vehicles and then starting my Death Guard project.

@ guardian31: Happy New Year to you too! And thanks for your continued support of this thread - it's followers like you that keep it (and me) going!

@ Eldrick Shadwoblade: Hey mate! Long time no see here. Welcome back and happy new year to you :smile.: I'm not doing a youtube tutorial sadly - I suck at filming and I hate my voice - but if you're ever in Amsterdam be sure to contact e and I'll be happy to show you some tricks :smile.:

@ Scribe: You did, just now, and thanks! I really liked the idea too, so I went for it a second time!

Cheers, guys!

@ sfPanzer: Yup, I'm back and on a roll now. ;)

@ Ranker: Glad you like her, buddy! No, Havoc Launchers do not come standard, nor do Combimelta's. That's why on both Land Raiders, the Havoc Launchers are magnetized, and the copulas with the combimelta will be detachable and replacable with included weapon-less copulas. ;) :tu:

That LR looks incredible!

In 2017 i only painted 10 bez, 2 termies, drake, helbrute and 1 champ. Thats pretty equal to your 3 large vehicles in 3 weeks lol. Glad to hear the new painting method workes out so well. I find it also allows you to make mistakes on normal figures as the wash usually hides them ;)

Cheers, Sagentus! I don't agree at all that you painted less. A space marine vehicle is essentially a large area with some detail. The large area can be done with an airbrush in literally minutes. It takes be about half an hour to paint all the blue on each vehicle. It's the details that take by far the most work - in fact the drying of washes is what -relatively- takes the most time! Compared to that, painting infantry is a chore - and so is the heldrake! But anyway, we can talk about this for hours. So.....

Anyway, I promised some pictures of finished miniatures. So here goes, including some features.

First off, is the Mars Pattern Land Raider's finished exhausts:
YEM29vS.jpg

Next is a picture you guys have already seen, but now with the Search Light, Havoc Launcher, and the Smoke Launchers pointing a reasonable direction, proving that magnetization really is a bliss.  ;)

Net up are two pictures of the top. The first shows the Havoc Launcher and the copula with the combi melta weapon:

3VNPjWN.jpg

The second shows the same tank but with an altered copula (which is easy to replace) and sans Havoc Launcher. Together they show the versatility of the kit with the magnets and different copulas.

I did the same thing with the MkIIb Land Raider, by the way :D

Lastly, here's the completely finished Fire Raptor! Now with rust streaks and missing parts replaced!

Gd8XwTy.jpg

What was missing in the previous images was the two upper energy cables - FW sent me replacement of the miscasts that were included with the kit. I received them today and painted them up immediately!

Here's a detail shot of the rust streaks I did.

So that's it! Three vehicles done in as many weeks!

tM5unZr.jpg

Now, it's waiting for FW to sent me the replacement tracks of the first Spartan so I can start o n that thing, plus the other Spartan and the Storm Eagle! Wooooooo

Thanks for looking!

Looking good :tu:

I was wondering, for a bit of variation... The small squares of flesh that you have done... What if they were not flesh, but cards from the Imperial Tarot. Nailed to the corpses or hull to show how the Night Lords are fighting against the destiny that the Night Haunter believed awaited his sons, through his reading of the cards..

Maybe they specialise in the hunting of astropaths and navigators who use such devices to show that not all things can be foreseen...

Anyway, wicked cool models, Ranker is a lucky fella :)
