These are excellent -- such an easy, yet brilliant kitbashing idea. You've given me some very cool inspiration for a couple of Inquisitorial spec ops troopers, you know ;)

Oh, and as for that bit of a stylised gesture for a Pickelhaube being the "official" gesture for Germany, it's the exact same thing in German sign language as well. I guess zat's just ze way we roll, ja? ;)

Thanks everyone for liking the scouts. :) With them finished, I really need to start working on at least one of my six units I vowed for Call of Chaos. So I'm going to work on the Chaos Lord with an IF Deredeo on its base. The one with the awesome bare ammo feeds.

As explained in a previous post, a couple pages back, I had to extent the ammo hoppers on both the guns and the magazines on the dread's back. I'm still working on the magazines. I managed to extend the hoppers on the guns themselves, however, using some plasticard and some good 'ol greenstuff.

They now are long enough to be able to fit the miniature NATO magazines.

What do you think? Good enough?

@Atia: thanks! Yeah, but that's easy, because the regular scout heads are just astonishingly ugly. ;)

@SkimaskMohawk: Oh, I see. Yeah, that facemasked beret head is also pretty cool. I might try to get my hand on one for one of the other two scout squads I plan on building.

@Kisada: Here's a great site.

@kizzdougs: Thank you KD! Glad to see you commenting again :)

@KrautScientist: Hey buddy! Super glad you're back! I'm looking forward to those spec ops inquisitotial henchmen. And good to see our native languages are also alike in the sign variant. ;)

Do they fit?, it is kind of hard to tell from that picture alone.

Well, the length of the bullet is shorter than the length of the hopper itself. The rectangular hole is just a mm short. It was impossible to leghten the hopper any further, and seeing as the holes of both the hopper and the magazine will be facing downward, I think I can pull off the illusion that the bullets fit. :tu:

@Kisada: Here's a great site.

And here's another one. Speaking of great sites, where does the beautiful ammo belt come from?
Ah, thanks! I linked to the ammo belt website a couple pages back. There's a picture in the post, you shouldn't have any trouble finding it. :tu: Edited by Augustus b'Raass

Woops, double post.

I vowed a Whirlwind in the Imperial Fists counter-CoC thread. I have to say I'm much more motivated to paint Imperial Fists than Chaos mini's atm. I'm just a little burned out CHaos-wise. I'm sure it'll return soon, but atm I'll focus on painting and perfecting my bananaramarines.

As you can see, I'm also making it so that it can be fielded as a rhino and as a Rzaorback - I was lucky enough to get my hands on three Whirlwind lunchers, so I bought three Razorbacks from GW, which I could field as three vehicles each!

Basically all the yellow is done now. I need to touch up all the blacks, then on to metals. Then it´ll be transfers, weathering, and finally lights.

Hope you like.

Triple post! Yay! (I guess 'working from home' isn't really working out for me...)

Anyway, here's another update on the Whirlwind. I did the black and the trasfer work on them.

I dunno. Here's a pic with a space marine squad next to it, as well as a helmet right next to the tank armour. I see no difference when up close. I guess it looks different due to the larger area.

:)

Yay Bananalauncher!

The black on the sides and hatches really breaks up the yellow nicely.

Also, have I mentioned that dark red you have going on the helms and weapon casings looks awesome? Cause it do.

^ what he said!

Scouts looks great. If I hadn't already done mine using Pig Iron heads I'd definitely be using those Scion ones.

Whirlwind looks good too, though a little flat. The black breaks it up nicely but I think a wash or some extra shading in some of the recesses would go a long way..

Your transfer work on everything is seamless, top job. I've been thinking more and more about starting to incorporate some, especially as I'm running out of diverse sculpted pads for my Deathwatch. What have you been using, Microsol and Microset?

@SwaT: thanks buddy, glad you like the scouts! The tank is nowhere near finished, not to worry. I did the metal work this evening, plus most of the washes in the recesses (AP strong tone and AP dark tone). I intent to do some heavy weathering with flesh wash rust streaks, sponging battle damage and wear, and of course some writing here and there. Also, the tracks and most of the undercarriage will get a lot of Vallejo Dark Earth Crylic texture paint stipled on, as well as some FW powders. About the transfers: i satin varnish the surface, then smear it with microset, after which I apply the transfer using microsol. When that's dry, I again go over it with satin varnish, and finally a matt varnish. :tu:

Ah, fair enough. I thought the yellow was pretty much done. That sounds like a lot more work, look forward to seeing it.

Cool, thanks for the breakdown. Seems like I know what next month's hobby budget is going to include.

Alright, did a lot of work on the detailing of the Razorback/Whirlwind today. I managed to finish everything except for the rust streaks, the tracks in their entirity, the mud weathering with Vallejo paste, and finally the symbols on the side of the whirlwind launchers.

Here's some pics!

ope you like! Feedback most welcome though - especially on the detailing. This weathering and neat iconography is all new to me, so if yuo see something at fault, please let me know.

@Dolchiate Remembrancer: It probably will, buddy. I'm getting a little afraid that I'm more interested in doing IFs for the time being, which might entail failing my CoC vow.... :sad.:

@grizzly_bear: they can and they will. Oh yesss....

@Tarvick :Thanks buddy. The black breaks up the vehicle nicely, doesn't it?

@SwaT: Totally go for that stuff - it makes using transfers so much easier! Also: what do you think of the weathering so far?

@SkimaskMohawk: haha counts-as. Whatevs mate  (all kidding aside, that scorpius does look mighty fine....)

Edited by Augustus b'Raass

@Midnight Runner: Thanks buddy! When the Whrilwind is finished (which also means I will have received some last basing materials, I'll probably start painting the Deredeo.

@KotR: I based the scouts on 25mm and the marines on 32mm.

@Brother heinrich: Haha thanks buddy. With 7th Ed. SM codex, and all those extra rules, I have devised a pretty good list. Check it out, and let me know what you think!

Looks awesome, but could use a tad more weathering on the yellow IMO, though I may very well change my opinion when I see the mud and oil streaks.

And yeah, the scorpius model does look very cool, but I'll convert a different looking WW turret for a rhino chassis over 51 GBP (plus tax and shipping) any day lol
