Thanks Psykic_scribe and geektom! I'll do a third soon enough! :)

I'went on and made a fourth vow vow in the Imperial Fists Expansion III event, namely a bare-bones Captain (wargear just a CC weapon and a Bolter) and an apothecary on bike. I haven't made the medic yet, but managed to get my hands on one of the old AoBR captains. Released during a time when I was out of the hobby, it's a simple click-fit model, but with amazing detail. I really like it!

I exchanged his power sword with a chain sword from the DV DA biker, and I gave him a laurel. Just two simple conversions, but they make sense in my Imperial Fists army. :)

Thanks for looking!

Captain Landa is finished. I need to rename the sergeant posted a couple pages back. I just think Landa is such an awesome name for a hero set in a distopian regime with fascist undertones, after rewatching Inglourious Basterds again last weekend. He was a joy to paint, although there are some weird things going on at the elbows of this model. I am very pleased with him myself - mostly because this is the first model in almost three years that I haven't used my airbrush on at all. There simply was no need for it as all the area's are too small to actually shade with the airbrush. I'm very happy how he turned out and even learned some things about edge highlighting from him. :tu:

I hope you like him!

Meanwhile, I started buidling the biker apothecary of my command squad. To continue the 'prolonged siege battlefield' feel I'm trying to achive for my fists, I gave him lots of supplies adn even a servo-skull with a pincer to help him with his duties.

What do you think? Does he need anything more?

Thanks for looking and for your feedback. :smile.:

@jeremy1391: thanks buddy!

@Knight of the Raven: I totally agree! Chainswords are boss. Also, thanks! I really like the command tank too. It's a shame I can't do more of those quartered doors, so as to prevent it loosing it's special status. Or can I?

@Fanbanger: Cheers buddy! Always welcome of course :smile.:

@Armond: I agree! It's kinda weird that you can do as much damage with a chainsword as literally with a stick in this game.

@Grizzly_bear: Hey, thanks again go to you for the inspiration.

Lovely apothecary.

It's a shame I can't do more of those quartered doors, so as to prevent it loosing it's special status. Or can I?

You can have up to three squadrons of three whirlwinds in a CAD with the new codex if I'm not mistaken. :ph34r.:

Your painting quality is top notch as ever, however the captain could use some adjustment imo. I'd paint the eagle on the banner a different colour as it doesn't stand out from the yellow, maybe a black to contrast and go with your company. Ironically, I think there's too much black on the rest of the model and I think it has to do with you painting both sides of his cape and the tabard black, maybe painting the tabard red or beige would help? Regardless, it's still very well painted

Thanks guys!

@SkimaskMohawk: That's a really good point you raise. I'm not quite sure if I think he's 'too' black, but I agree about the gold on his banner. I'll look into changing the yellow background into the checkered black-and-white of the fifth company. Thanks!

@JeffTibbetts: Although your idea made me go :D, I'll leave the comic relief to my Orc Blood Bowl team ;)

@ShVagYer: Guess so. Still, it looks fabulous. ;)

@Knight of the Raven: HAHA nine whirlwinds is a tad silly though... ;)

I disagree with SkimaskMohawk re the Eagle on the banner - I think the gold on the banner resonates neatly with the Eagle on the backpack.   Augustus, you may also have difficulty chosing a shade of red for the cloak that does not overpower the red of the weapons.

Just my non-expert view.  SkimaskMohawk has two good points but is there a ready solution?

FYI - superb paint work on this IF character - he has a real presence for the battlefield.

The eagle behind the guys head works because it is surrounded by dark colours like the black on the backpack, cloak and dark hair; the lack of contrast on the banner is the problem since it's a light gold on yellow

Thanks everyone, for the feedback. You guys really make me push myself to get the best out of my skills, and to improve them. :tu:

I was planning a three-day trip to berlin this weekend, but it was cancelled due to illness of my mates. My GF is out of town, so that leaves me with three days of me time. Which means beer, work-outs and, most importantly in this context: hobby fun timez! Yay!

So I got in the time to finish the apothecary on bike in one long paint session yesterday. Note± I´m planning to do all my bikers on 70mm oval bases, so this base is just a temporary one.

Hope you like him!

Also, I started work on the third and final Whirlwind today. I wanted to take proper WIP pictures sans basecoat, but got carried away... ;)

@Midnigth Runner: Captain panda... LoL

@Psykic_scribe: Yeah you're right on the red on the cloak. If I'm going to change anything it'll only be on Landa's banner...  Thanks for the support and the feedbac, buddy. Really appreciate it.

@Grizzly_bear: Cheers, bro. Glad you like him. I'm thinking of kitbashing the chaplain in the army and checking your thread out for inspiration... ;)

@SkimaskMohawk: I agree with your assessment on the too-much-blck on the model, as well as the contrast of the eagle , but don't want to alter the inside of the cloak for the reasons Psykic_scribe laid out. That being said, the only solution to the eagle problem would be to make the banner even darker, which would exacerbate the other problem... PROBLEMS! ;) I might go back to it on a later date. Thank you for your constructive critique / I really appreciate it! :tu: :)

@kizzdougs: Ha! I hadn't even realized that he's armed with our favourite forum's eponymous weapn combo! All the more reason why he's awesome!

@Brother Heinrich: Indeed it is!! ;)

Thanks you two. :) I'm glad the -admittedly weird- combo of yellow, black and white looks good. :tu:

I had two super long painting sessions yesterday and today - one of the benefits of cancelling a weekend to Berlin... :huh.: Both the whirlwind and the attack bike I vowed in the Imperial Fists Expansion III event are finished now.

Here´s the Whirlwind! I wanted to get across that this tank is part of the squadron, but also to make him distinct from the other two. For some reason, I forgot that Oaths of Moment or purity seals are an integral part of Adeptus Astartes culture during the building of the first two, so I decided to compensate on this one, by giving him three sets, as well as a long scroll on the front left black panel. Although I really dig the black/and/white quartered side doors -and will use that one at least a couple of the other five (FIVE) razorbacks I still need to build and paint for my 1250 Imperial Fists tournament army- I had to make the doors on this one yellow to make the command tank of the squadron as distinct as I could. The biggest and most noticeable difference is the rockets in the pods - I used the big ones of the set - even though I prefer the smaller ones.

Anyway, I hope you like it!

And here he is with his two buddies! Death from afar!!!

And here's a WIP shot of the Attack Bike. I still have to base it, but as I'm going for the fairly large oval bases, I thought I't use an 80mm round base for this one - so I need to wait for it to arrive. Also, when I did the photo shoot with it, I realized I made the multimelta black with red cables, instead of red with black cables as is the way I was supposed to do it. I'll fix that as soon as I base the bike. For now, I'll count him as finished.

Hope you like, and as always: thanks for watching.

OK, I'll admit I wasn't sold on the bike apothecary at first, he just looked a bit 'stock'. But seeing that paint job...That is hands down the best IF apothecary I've seen. Awesome scheme. I love the black/yellow scheme on the attack bike, as well.

Makes me miss the Seventh. My first army when I started 40k as a child. Inspiring stuff!
