I haven't commented on here in a while, but I am in awe of your Imperial Fists. Especially the infantry models you have recently been churning out.

In fact today is the first time I have ever run out of likes  :biggrin.:

Are you using a recon marine head on your comms specialist, it seems a good fit, I can imagine the lens sliding down over his eye as a target designator, when radioing an airstrike or a barrage from the whirlwinds :smile.:

The other kit-bashes are pretty inspired too. My favourites being Veteran Sergeant Donau and your newest Sergeant

I like the banners. I know they are not very practical in a real world sense , but on the tabletop it is a great way to quickly note who is where and jog the memory when special rules/weapons are involved. Nothing worse than in the heat of battle you forget the sergeant has a lightning claw, you lose combat & get wiped out.

Besides in the rules banners do not give LOS to your guy for the enemy

The deredeo is looking pretty awesome! He was indeed long overdue for some color.

I'm a little upset that the FW resin MK4 heads look a little... delicate? ... on  the plastic GW marines, kinda highlighted by your vox marine. The plastic MK4 helm a few pics down (I'm assuming from the BaC set) looks just fine though. Is there a very big difference in scale in the other parts?

Thanks for the replies!

@Flint:I have to be honest and tell you that the FW MkIV helmets that have recently (the last two years) been released in my opinion have a -for lack of a better word- derpy snout. It's why I shied away from them in favour of other marks for the last couple of years. The plastic BaC helmets do not have this problem, luckily.

@helterskelter: cheers, bud! Dynamicism is the way to go with contemptors.

@Kriegriss: Haha thanks buddy. Every contemptor kit is super posable (I have no idea why some people tend to build them in such stacato, rigid poses). The deredeo is no exception: the legs and pelvis alone have seven joints, five of which are ball joints. So give it a go, steal away. And I applaud your plans of giving it a back banner. Banners FTW!

@dantay_xv: I bought the comms specialist's head from a bits seller - no idea what kit it is from. perhaps someone else knows? I hadn't even considered that banners aren't counted in terms of LoS. Thanks!

@Barabbas Sogalan: betl fed weapons YAY :tu:

Hey everyone. Had a slight break from the hobby train due to work related shenanigans, but here's the next tactical squad completely build:

You didn't post new models for like 4 days, that's not a break!!! Great combination of bits for the comms chap.

Brother Kurt, Vexilarius of Squad Lev. Kurt wears a modified suit MkIV armour with a MkV  helmet, which signifies him as a veteran. The honour marking on the right knee pad of the armour marks it as very old. The squad´s Vexila too is a truly ancient relic in the chapter, and features marks of honuor from thousands of years ago.

I love this Vexilla/banner so much (and I hate back banners on marines); elegant in its simplicity. Initially thought it was freehand, but I guess it's some of those fancy new Legion transfers that you've seamlessly applied.

That red looks darker than the rest of the weapon casings, it's absolutely gorgeous. How did you do it?

As ever everything looks good, you're going to have a company in no time at this rate!

@sockwithaticket: Thanks buddy! Glad you like that banner at least. It's funny how people are either super pro or very con banners. Lol Also: would you do me a favour and put the pictures you quoted between hidden brackets (it's kinda hogging the thread)?

To answer your question on how I did the ML: I actually didn't do anything different compared to the bolter casings: it just has larger surfaces. So a 1:1 mix of GW Khorne Red and GW Caliban Green as a base, then edge highlight with GW Mephiston Red, and then another edgy edge highlight with a 1:1 mix of GW Troll Slayer Orange and GW Fire Dragon

@hushrong: haha thanks - yes I'm lookig forward to painting them too :)

@Black_out: Of course he is! ;)

@SkimaskMohawk: Me too buddy, me too. I'd love to do me some Iron Warriors, Death Guard, or Emperor's Children...

@Slipstrems: CHOO CHOO! ;)

@Kriegriss: I'm glad you agree mate!

@SkimaskMohawk: Yep, that second comment just fortified my intent. :tu:

@Viridia: CHeers buddy! Check out my answer to SwaT how I did it.

The Deredeo is finished.

Note the absence of armour on the ammo feeds of the Anvillus cannons.

The armoured hoppers where removed by Techmarines after being irrepairably damaged during the recent campaign.

The top of the Ailolos Launcher bears the Chapter symbol, as well as the most recent Campaign's badge, so as to be easily recognizable by aerial support.

The dead Iron Warrior at Vall's feet shows how recent fighting has been. It's also a nice poke to my regular hobby buddy Ruben, who is building a most excellent Iron Warriors army, for which he uses the loyal SM 'dex. Such a shame I cannot convince him to start a plog here. Ruben, if you're reading this, START ONE!!

The dorsal support weapons have been magnetized, so I can choose which to use in battle.

All in all, this was an awesome ride. Thanks to everyone helping me solve the problem of the damaged ammo hopper. I hope he meets your expectations somewhat. The model was fun to build, despite some warpage and thin resin here and there. It was only when I started painting the model when I saw the misallignment ridges and realized what a dreadful cast this must have been, and I seriously suspect it wasn't an original (he was part of semi-cheap eBay package deal, together with some other FW stuff). Anyway, I think I made the most out of him. I hope you like him!

Thanks for looking! Feedback most welcome.

Replies: @deathspectersgt7: Righteous, eh? Sounds appropriate!

@The Hydra: Cheers buddy! I'm glad you like them. Come back any time :biggrin.:

@Khârn the Bloody: Thanks mate! I try to make every marine a conversion or at least a kit bash in some way.

I have been dealing with some painting fatigue and this thread has inspired me I have built and based 10 more guys after following this thread in the last couple of days and also going thru my bits boX rounding up back banners
