Dear god... Ok it took a few days, but I left the tab open overnight and just read this entire thread. My eyes hurt, but dang this is just marvelous good sir. And, since you've asked so nicely, Id like to contribute a name to your list. If be honored if Theodus Iscarion were the last Lascannon member of IX devstator squad. :)

Wa-hay! :D Welcome to 9th Devastator Jifel, I'm looking forward to working with you. B)

@Augustus b'Raas: Well now, that sounds like a grand idea! All we need now is our last squaddie and the hilarious misadventures of 9th Devastator can begin. :D

Edited by SanguiniusReborn

Cheers guys, another four slots filled. You guys are great!

Just ten (10) guys to go!

@Viridia: Awesome! You're in. Thanks.

@GREY88: Cheers buddy. Your PM has been read, and Lavin Onikron is now a scout heavy Weapons Specialist.

@jifel: Theodus Iscarion has been inducted!

@SanguiniusReborn: i love how you're so enthusiastic about this, and active in welcoming others into 'your' squad! :thumbsup::biggrin.:

@disease: Grenat Falschirm is, like Quixus said, a bit of a weird name, when you translate it. Mind if I 40K-ify it to Genart Faskrim? And if you don't mind, I'd prefer it if you'd pick a place out of the now enpty slots in my 1250 list - seeing as these will be my tournament army in March, and all the others are 'planned', but will take quite a while to see the light of day, if you catch my drift. Below is a list of open slots in the list. :smile.:

@Quixus: Thanks for the sharp eye and google translate skillz - you've prevented poor brother Genart from being mocked by his squad mates!

+++++++++++++++

Here's a list of marines that still await naming. Mind you, the scouts and the tactical marines still need to be built and painted (which allows you to have some influence on their look), while the devastators have all already been build and painted (IX Squad completion pics here, X Squad completing pics here).

So if you want some say over the look of your miniature, pick a scout or the last tactical marine. If you like devastators, check out their pics in the links above, and pick one of them!

Grenade Parachute? That does not sound like a name but like an orky contraption

. Ooops! Didn't even make the link between grenade and grenat! Furthermore, I thought I was being original with the falshirm given how close it is to my real life second name. Must have subconsciously plucked the name, and my autopilot forebrain went hell yeah that's great.

Happy to get back in my box. Next time, I'll be sure to post after coffee and morning praise to the emperor.

Please do change name to something less ridiculous and any marine will do.

IX Devastator Squad- Battle Brother: Tevi Kozlov, call sign "Goat" based on last name due to stubborness. Please :biggrin.: Thank you Augustus!!!

Welcome brother! With the addition of Goat our squad is complete at last... :D

9TH DEVASTATOR, ASSEMBLE!

This update is meant to show what Bolter&Chainsword as a communnity means to me.

It's also dedicated to frater SanguiniusReborn.

As most of you know, I've opened my Imperial Fists army up to have all the different miniatures in it named by you, the frater of this community. Over the last couple of weeks, I've been in contact with over 50 frater, who all picked a miniature in my (future) collection and named it. It's given the miniatures a character and has been tremendously inspiring to me as a hobbyist. Some miniatures hadn't even been built when they received their name, and their names inspired me to -and how to- build them.

The intent of this endeavour was to 'share' my army and it's progress with the community thourgh pictures, but also to give the community a sort of ownership over my army. Some frater PMd me characteristics of the miniatures they named, some have even promised to write fluff about them and/or about the squads they are a part of.

Frater SanguiniusReborn in particular has taken his role as ´Veteran Sergeant´ of IX Devastator Squad rather seriously, welcoming each and every frater who named one of the marines of IX squad into ´his´ command. With jimbo13 claiming the last Battle Brother, his IX Devastator Squad is now complete, as celebrated with his ^^ post, above. :biggrin.:

And then I realized I had only posted one picture of the completed squad, over here...

...but never any shots of the individual marines. Since posting them almost two months ago, I have replaced the sergeant's standard devastator helmet with a crested MkIV helmet (because all my sergeant have one), and added a longer antenna to his signum. So there's a different model and a lack of indivudual pics. As such, I thought I'd reward SanguiniusReborn and his squad mates with a photo session and some fluff!

(Fun fact: after their photo shoot, as I started making the composite pictures of the individual mini's, I realized I hadn't put any roman numeral IX transfers on their right pauldrons. So out came the tweezers, warm water, micro set and sol, and some satin varnish, and I did the entire shoot a second time... :wink:)

So, without further ado, I give you IX Devastator Squadhttp://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/WP_20160104_021_zpsrxr2aier.jpg

Veteran sergeant - Erhard Zeikfried - SanguiniusReborn

A proud but practical officer, Brother Sergeant Zeikfried is known among his brothers as stern but just. He is known among his brothers in Fifth Company for his joviality and camaraderie when accepting victory, and his dedication to those under his command. Although difficult to truly anger, though, he sometimes berates those under his command for the slightest deviations from the codex, in order to keep them focussed during longer missions.

Vexilarius - Lukas Mondez - GrandMagnus

Brother Mondez earned the honour of carrying a squad's banner after spotting a band of flanking Ork specialists and rigging the trench -which they were going to use to cover their approach- with melta charges, thereby saving his brothers from injury, possible death, and failing their mission.
EDIT: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO In my haste to correct the lack of the Squad's Roman Numeral, I've put the IX transfer on upside-down!!!! DOOH! I'll need to correct that asap. Sorry, GrandMagnus!!!

Heavy Weapon Specialist (Lascannon) - Ventsel Svatopluk - Quixus
A newer addition to IX Squad, Brother Svatopluk is an ace sniper and eager for kills. He has, however, a propensity of choosing individual targets of opportunity over tactically more advantageous targets, which led Sergeant Zeikfried to ask Brother Iscarion to keep a close eye on him.

Heavy Weapon Specialist (Lascannon) - Theodus Iscarion - jifel

Iscarion is a stalwart warrior who has been in IX Squad for four decades. He has taken up the informal role of tutor to Brother Svatopluk, and his calming presence has saved the squad in many dire situations.

Battle Brother - Tevi Kozlov, callsign "Goat" - jimbo13

Called 'goat', by his brothers, Brother Tozlov earned his callsign after mimicking the sound a particularly panicked cultist warrior made in its last moments, during the Althovian Punishment crusade.

I hope you like them! C&C as always more than welcome!

Replies:

@Dragonlover: I'm grateful you decided to join, buddy. Thanks. :smile.:

@disease: You are now inducted as brother Genart Faskrim, comms specilaist of II Scout Squad. Thanks buddy!

@dantay_xv: Cheers bro! Glad you enlisted :wink: You have claimed the last comms specialist position in the army. :smile.:

@Brother Chaplain Kage: Awesome name, and welcome aboard!

@jimbo13: Thank YOU for filling that position, buddy! I hope my welcome is felt, after that awesome post by 'your sergeant' SanguiniusReborn. Also, as a happy coincidence, you chose a guy that has somewhat of a goat-y appearance.  :wink:

@SanguiniusReborn: Hahaha awesome. I hope you like the post, buddy. Feel free to add to the fluff. Thanks again, and I hope you'll continue to be involved with my army project. :smile.:

Post Scriptum: as some of you may have noticed, Black-out has been nagging me/us to call one of the marines in the army Franz. To comply with him, I've altered my Captain's first name to Franz Landa. I hope you're happy, Black_out! :tongue.:

Nice, thank you. I like that little blurb about him. Is that a beakie helm and MKVI greaves? :thumbsup:

Or maybe the numeral is all an ingenious plot to confuse the enemy (and superiors)! Is it the IXth squad? OR perhabs a secretive XIth squad! They will never know! Muahahaha *twisting moustache / gets slapped over the neck by sarge Sanguinius* :D

Love the minis and the fluff :thumbsup:

@Quixus: Yes it is a beaky with Mk Vi Devastator greaves, indeed. In my mind, beakies are more younger/agile/sneaky/impulsive, hence the fluff. :wink:

@GrandMagnus: wheels within wheels, baby. It's like an inception marine... HOLY HELL... wait...

*search, post*

*click, post*

;)

@Grizzly_bear: Tellion is being painted as you read this for the first time, I think. The Chaplain will have to wait untill I've painted half of two razorbacks, two scout squads, and two five-man tactical squads. So around February?

9TH DEVASTATOR, ASSEMBLE!

This is amazing. I feel apart of the cool kids club. Sorry I didn't join sooner Brother-Sergeant!!!

Augustus- That is fantastic. I do feel welcomed. It was all I could do not to have a laughing fit in my cubicle over the goat sound. I LOVE IT!!!!!

@Apologist: Hey buddy! Well seeing as I'm almost done with the army, I'll hold of a grand army shot until the 1250 list is finished. ;) Do you fancy a spot in the Gladius? I have a Devastator Battel brother and four bolter-wielding scouts available!

@Grizzly_bear: Soon!

@war009: He'll stand in banana clad - with a slightly 40K-ified name.

@jimbo13: You're welcome to it buddy!

Sweet baby Dorn on the dancefloor! We look so good! I especially love my Mk.4 helmet (I've never liked the whole "huge bionic optic sticking out one side of your face" look) and I even have my own pet servo-skull! I shall named him Charles. :cool.: Thank you so much Augustus. spectacular work!
