I'll fill that last spot for the devastator position if it's still free. I'll work out a name etc once I've grabbed some sleep :smile.:

There's your man Augustus! Let it never be said that X Devastator arrive late, nor early. We arrive precisely when we mean to, and in this it's in several hours time.:biggrin.:

9th Devastator would beg to differ. ;) :p

Baagh! 9th Devastator are the glory boys. 10th Devastator are the true Sons if Dorn here ;)

If by "Glory Boys" you mean the squad that actually makes it to the battlefield in time for the fighting, then absolutely. :D

Actually, I'll tell you a little secret. We don't arrive late. We get orders to stay off the field because Chapter Command wants to give the enemy a chance of actually fighting back. We're just that good :D

Uh-huh, suuuuure, how about we give Captain Landa a buzz on the ol'vox and confirm that shall we? ;) :D

Oh man,

they are incredible! Lovin' them.

And Hradin Voroka.... sweet. Did a great job here. :)

Seems like my previous post confused you a bit. Let me explain:

It was intended to be an aberration of this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Z1Krfww5eE

Nothing more, nothing less. Just wanted to say how I like your work. ;)

FINALLY!

All brothers of my 1250 pts Tournament list have been named!

Thanks a bunch, everyone who has participated.

As many as 59 frater have stepped up (Fiftynine! How awesome is that?!), and I thank each and every one of you guys.

:thanks:

It's been awesome so far. The other miniatures in the army remain open to anyone, including those who have already joined. I realize there's only so many frater who frequent this thread, but I've found it immensely inspired me to make these guys as individual as possible, motivating me to write some fluff, etc.- It feels like I not only owe it to the miniature, but also the frater that named the miniature.

I also love that the devastator boys are having some camaraderial rivalry. Let me work that into the fluff. As soon as dizzyeye provides me with a name for the last battle brother, I'll make individual shots of all the brothers in X Devastator Squad and write fluff for them.

For now, I've finished the second-to-last squad!

IV Tactical Squad :Troops:
IV tactical Squad is known among the brothers of Vth Company as ´the bucket´, as it is used as a repository of penitence by Chaplain Kaprellian. Sergeant Kolan is entrusted to lead those brothers who, for whatever reason, need disciplinary actions. The turnover of the squad is therefore relatively high, as serving in IV Squad for a certain period is known to reinforce loyalty and the sense of duty in brothers of 5th Company.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/WP_20160110_001_zpsa5bocdwq.jpg

Veteran sergeant - Fidurik Kolan - Barabbas Sogalon
Sergeant Kolan is a hulking brute of an astartes. He was inducted into the Vth at the relatively old age of twelve, along with his blood-sworn gang-brother Johannu Ermik, who now serves as his brother-sergeant in VI Tactical Squad. Both led a life of crime and violence before acquiescing to the Imperial Truth and the discipline of the Imperial Fists Chapter. Kolan's physical stature and great strength is echoed in his leadership style; he is a brooding, controlling man, who enforces the Codex rigorously and without remorse. He has a keen understanding of justice and an excellent eye for talent, however, and will always strive to bring out the best in those who serve under his command.
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/WP_20160110_009_zpsormjmlhp.jpgWhen asked via PM about specific heraldry of 'his' sergeant, Barabbas Sogalon suggested clumping the banner with transfers. I hope you like his banner like this, buddy!

Comms specialist - Jacobu Wenreich - stepper
A skilled grenadier of VI squad before he became communications specialist of IV Squad, Brother Wenreich favours city warfare above all. He is often the first to suggest blitz actions when encountering entrenched or fortified enemies, and will be ever eager to execute the tactic, to the point of undermining authority of his commanding officer. In spite of this trait, he is respected by Sergeant Kolan, who has come to value his morale-lifting interaction with his brothers.
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/WP_20160110_015_zpsjrlo1jc5.jpg

Heavy Weapon Specialist (Lascannon) - Lothar Meginhard - kizzdougs
Meginhard takes his role as the heavy weapon specialist very seriously, once going so far as to refuse to abandon a clear firing position. Known for his lack of humour and tactiturn nature, he will often withdraw from his brothers when allowed to be at ease. Unexpectedly, he has formed a strong bond with brother Tsoi.
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/WP_20160110_003_zps7vkoghdo.jpg

Battle Brother - Vikton Tsoi - Res Ipsa Loquitur
A decorated sniper, Brother Tsoi was tasked with a decade-long service in IV squad for disobeying an order for an emergency extraction, in order to save a wounded brother. Tsoi often acts as a spotter for Brother Meginhard, whom he considers a friend.
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/WP_20160110_012_zpscji0xsx7.jpg

Battle Brother - Addart Valten - Soric
A former assault marine, Brother Valten is the longest-serving brother in IV Squad in history, being seen even by Sergeant Kolan as a difficult case. He favours close combat above all other forms of combat; once going so far as not using his bolter when charged by a traitor marine. His nature is literally bloodthirsty: Valten is known among his brothers as 'the beast', as he regularly gorges on the flesh of his fallen opponents, which he justifies as giving him a tactical advantage due to the omophagea implant's effects. As a sign of penitence for an earlier offence, Valten has worn the Black Fist since before being inducted in IV Squad.
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/WP_20160110_006_zpsjtairrvn.jpgThis guys originally had a pointy MkIII left arm, which is part of the rapier kit. Unfortunately when he was done, I dropped him and not only his fore-arm broke off (which would have been easy to fix alone) but also the finger that was pointing. So I dremmeled out the entire hand and replaced it with a scout hand knife holding a combat knife, repositioned the forearm slightly, and pulled the entire arm down. The MkVI helmet didn´t look good on it, so I gave him the helmet that was originally meant for Tsoi. I like them both far better now!

That´s it! I hope you guys and gals like the miniatures and the fluff I wrote for them. I must say it´s cool to give every squad and every marine its own atmosphere and fluff.

Thanks for looking!

@dizzyeye: Great! You're the last one! Please provide me with a name and I'll post individual pictures and fluff of X Devastator Squad.

@Viridia, SanguiniusReborn and dizzyeye: HAHAHA You guys are greatl. I love that already there is a friendly rivalry between the IX and the IX devastators. I'll most definitely write that into the fluff for them!:biggrin.:

@kelborn: I was not aware of that song 9hence my missing the reference), but it made me laugh our load and I laughed even harder when I reread your post. Cheers, buddy! Edited by Augustus b'Raass

If you could just edit the picture to one without a word thats censored on the site, that'd be great ^_^

Smashing squads as usual mate, both the scouts and IV tac. look great and have nice pieces of background.  Brother Valten sounds like he got chosen by the wrong Chapter though, he would feel much more at home on the other side of the loyalist/traitor-fence I think.

My bad Slips..... fixed

Thanks guys, glad you like the new squad.

One request though: I'm fine with you guys (slipstreams, jimbo13, and others) conversing with each other, in fact I ancourage it (especially since the IX-X rivalry is giving me ideas for fluff!), but the quoting of quotes of quotes is kinda making the thread difficult to read - especially on mobile browsers. Would you mind editting out the hard returns, or at least putting the quotes themselves between [hidden] or

brackets? Thanks! :D :tu:

@jimbo13: you named your guy 'goat' just so you could use that specific GIF later on, didn't you? ;)

@Dizzyeye: Every militatary organization has internal rivalries, Dizz. It's what drives perfectionism and good morale. :)

@MrBear: I know right? Valten should have been picked by the VIII or the XII... Unfortunately he was born a tad too late for that... :tu:

@GrandMagnus:Cheers, GM! And go inter-unit rivalry!

Edited by Augustus b'Raass

Looking good Augustus. Wouldn't mind trying my hand at writing some fluff for Brother Ostian as a thank you for letting me name him. I'll try and come up with something on my break tomorrow and get back to you when I finish work.

@Viridia: You're welcome to it, buddy! Love to hear your fluff. :)

@Barrabas Sogalon: HAha glad you like Sergeant Kolan!

@Dosjetka: Cheers brother. :tu:

@jimbo13: I don't believe you. ;) About the backpacks: why not use them?

Liking "the Beast" he's got some real attitude to him and you took him a direction I didn't expect, which is a pleasant surprise :D

The rest of IV Tactical are all so memorable with their little distinct personalities and the fluff really expands on them. Sgt Kolan is definetly my next favourite in the whole bunch. Great work.

It's been a while, but the Thunderfire Thudd Gun and its accompanying techmarine (named by Black_out) are now completed! Also, the last five man tactical squad from my 1250 list is built. yay!

Techmarine - Tomas Golch - Black_out

A dedicated warrior, Techmarine Golch showed a talent for handling the machine spirits of vehicles even during his initiation trials. He rose to become a Land Speeder gunner during his training in Tenth company, and was send to study with the Mechanicum on Mars as soon as he became a true Astartes. He has an aptitude for appeasing the cantankerous machine spirits of particularly ancient machines, and was thus tasked with the operation and maintenance of Fifth company's artillery battalion. He has booked great success in reawakening and focussing the spirits of the battalion´s ancient Thunderfire Cannon prototypes.

The aim of the cannon is still poseable. :smile.:

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/WP_20160118_010_zpsqryzjfoo.jpg

And of course, when there's not enough room for the base of the piece when I want to deploy it in cover in some crowded scenery, the piece is magnetized to its base!

Hope you like!

Now, onto the WIP pics of VI Tactical Squad

Veteran sergeant - Johannu Ermik - hushrong

Wearing a yellowish MKIII pad on his left shoulder, which is one of the last vestiges of my dwindling stock of MkIII bits that I bought years ago, which I only two years ago realized were recasts.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/WP_20160118_030_zpsgt8makby.jpg

Comms specialist - Adolar Notker - Nemac Vradon

This guy wears IX Devastator squad's former helmet (which was replaced by one with a plume. Because all my officers need plumes.) It will be repainted into yellow. The left antenna is a metal paper clip rod, the tip of which I sanded to not appear clipped. :tu:

I hope you like them!

C&C as always very welcome. Thanks for looking :biggrin.:

Reply:

@Soric: Yeah cheers. he's actually the guy that inspired the background of the entire squad. I was like: "this guy looks brutal, he should get some crazy fluff." And then that infected my brain for the rest of the writing session. :smile.:
