Dude those doors look ace! Love the way the gunmetal tones are coming out, and as everyone else has mentioned the fade in colors is looking awesome! Chevrons look pretty damn precise too, brotha! The FW decal sheets really are invaluable and have come so far in recent years, imo. Keep it up!

Thanks, gang! And, BOOM! Typhon finished.

So, I've started and Iron Warriors force. Having started with the Typhon feels both strange and fitting. Strange, because the usual starting point of a Space Marine force is with aa standard Bolter toting guy. Fitting, because it doesn't et more siege-y and 'Iron Warriors' than a Typhon Heavy Siege Tank.

I went for the very weathered look, thinking I could match the bases with my Imperial Fists. These guys will obviously traitors, which I tried to convey with the skulls on spikes and chains, as well as the marine helmet of what some might consider the most loyalist Legion of all.

Anyway, without further ado, here's the pics:

@ Dragonlover: thanks buddy! I couldn't wait with painting, so I hope you don't mind the doors being glued in place in the pics, instead of dry-fitted

@ Mechanist: Thanks mate! I hope the faded affect fists the rest of the tank :smile.:

@ hushrong: That's nice of you to say. Cheers! Applying transfers is easy with the right tools. I first spray on some gloss varnish, then cover the area with some Micro Sol. I then put the transfer in warm water, soak up excess water, cover it in Micro Sol, then apply the transfer to the sruface. I then dab excess water off with some paper towel and apply some Micro Set again. After that has dried up, I spray on Gloss Varnish, followed by some Satin Varnish.

@ Midnight Runner: KHORNE SPARTAN COMING UP INDEED!!!

@ anselneo: cheers, Ansel!! See you soon at the club. I'm looking forward to grinding your Death Guard into the ground. :biggrin.:

@ Rob_Loken: cheers. Hope you like them on the tank as well.

@ Biohazard: Thank you!!

@ AlanOfAngels: I agrre, decals are the bomb nowadays. :smile.:

Thanks guys and gal, for all the comments!

After a coule hours of work, involving a huuuuuge tank of boiling water, the Sartan is ready to go! I did notice I put the weapon shields on the hull on backwards, but oh well...

I went for a feral kind of look for it. I vowed the spartan as having Malefic ammo and a dirge caster, hence the gargoyle heavy bolter muzzles and the dirge caster on top. I didn't want to use the stock guy that comes with the spartan, so I filed off a CSM tank commander and went looking for a suitable helmet. Turns out, I think the MkII helmet would be most appropriate - so I could've just used the stock marine. Oh well #2.

What did turn out exactly as planned, was how awesome the Lord of Skulls tracks worked on the Spartan. Seven sets of those tracks were used for it, and I'm super excited to have made this conversion, which I've never seen before anywhere. So yay me....

Anyway, here's pics of the unpainted vehicle.

@ Dragonlover: Other plans for the Iron Warriors include those cataphractii dudes with missile launchers, 10 breachers, a Sicaran, a Leviathan, a couple of those mortar thingies, and lots of bolter guys. Perhaps even some CHOOM guys...

@ Dantioch: Cheers, buddy! I have tons of plans, so hopefully you won't be dissapointed.

@ Teetengee: It's a Typhon, so slightly larger. Want me to post a comparison pic?

@ Atia: It's transfers with a black spray over the sides, then gloss and satin spray varnish over everything.

@ Quixus: Indeed. But only slightly bigger.

@ Eldrick Shadowblade: Thank you! I love weathering tanks, so I'm glad it turned out well.

@ kizzdougs: Cheers, mate. Transfers are awesome whatever way you look at it.

@ anselneo: Oh right, the tournament is tomorrow! I'll be bringing my fists, though. KDK is nowhere near finished yet.

The typhon looks really good, but I'm not feeling the decals. They look "shopped," for lack of a better word, and that clashes with the rest of the tank that looks obviously painted.

Love the spartan's customization!

Whoah, those tracks are a great fit  absolute, MAXIMUM awesomez for such an original idea. I would order some myself, but you have drained the worlds rescource of the :biggrin.: Cannot wait to se that done.

You Typhon looks an absolute boss, pure Iron Warrior boom. The transfers came out really well and complement the scheme. Great ideas again; superb stuff

You can tell I like these tanks, rigt?

I am frothing at the mouth looking at that spartan.

The treads are awesome and fit perfect in every way. The extra touch of Chaos and Khorne are excellent as well. The only thing that is getting to me is the hatch with the marine poking out. That guy needs to be standing out with a chainaxe raised high (*in my thoughts and opinion).

Please tell me it will be packed with Berzerkers!

That sounds perfect for a new "Drive me closer, I want to hit them with my Axe" meme :D

I'm going to have to consider those tracks when it comes to my Landraider, are the spartan tracks wider than the stock Landraider do you know?

It's a brilliant looking tank so far and will look so much more awesome painted up with some dudes to transport around it.

The Typhon is looking ace as well. I have two comments though,

1. The guns look a little clean for such a well weathered tank with is a stark if not slightly jarring contrast, especially the big one. Maybe some heat effect to help bring it inline with the rest of the tanks worn and used appearance.

2. While I don't total agree with Knight of the Raven about the 'shopped effect of the decals the doors despite being 'faded'are considerably darker that the surrounding tank and don't have the streaks that's so prevalent across the whole vehicle.

if you could just lighten the tone around the edges of the door slightly to match the tank sides then add a few steaks I think you'll have it bang on.

But seriously good work there.
