Hounds look great full squad together should be impressive coming across the table.

Sicaran is looking much better, I'd be tempted to add a few more of the darker greasy streaks/smears just for consistency with the Typhon as there is noticeably more on the Typhon and the two side by side will look awesome.

Hell Talon should be good.

Lovely updates all around.

Hi gang! Sorry for my being quiete the last week - I'm experiencing a bot of a hobby burnout. My holiday has started and I'm far more interested in getting fit, enjoying friends and the sun - plus the occasional game of Watch Dogs, than actually getting some painting done.

I don't know what you're talking about.

*Achievement unlocked: play The Old Republic for 200 hours*

Shut up.

THans for the replies, gang!

@ Thousand Eyes: Cheers buddy! Next time, drink some coffee instead of the beforementioned C. ;)

@ Capt Carl: HAHAHA please, the SICK-aran is a real PUN-isher against jinking opponents. ;)

@ Quixus: I was, indeed. The mud is just Vallejo grey paste mixed with some Rhinox Hide and a bit of GW sand...

@ Mechanist: More dark smears coming up. Along with some skulls. :tu:

@ Knight of the Raven: Oh man, KotOR is AWESOME!! Replayed that game about five times already...

@ Atia: Cheers, lady-bro! I really don't care about the flying stems, as the ones GW produces are fugly as frack. All my chaos flyers have self-made stems which I much prefer! :)

@ Kurama: Thanks buddy! You're progressing nicely too, I see. :tu:

Sure! They're made from 2mm thick steel wire I buy from a local arts and crafts shop. I bend it in a triangle (to use as the base), and then one end in a 80angle with the plane of said triagle - this will be the stem itself...

So the triangle (in red) is on the same XY plane as the oval base (in blue), while the stem itself is bent in a 80o angle with the base, so into the Z axis - if this makes sense.

I then hotglue the triangle on the stem, cover the base with some milliput, and place a piece of 5mm thick cork board with a hole over the base. That piece will function as the base for any other decorations, like the Imperial Minutorum sections as above. :tu:

The Khornetemptor is looking even more spectacular with those decals! I think you could even have gotten away with a bigger XII on the kneepad. The golden warhound badges on the Sarcophages are a lovely touch, though!

@ KrautScientist:  Not sure what you mean with the detail re: the Typhon's transfers. THey were just reallu huge transfers which I had to cut down and thus airbrushed the sides black. As the Sicaran's transfers are far smaller, no such thing is needed.

I was referring to those pretty big decals that you weathered down to make them look faded by age and grime. That was a fantastic, yet subtle, eyecatcher on the other tank, and the relatively tiny IW icons on the new tank's black side panels almost seem a little lost by comparison.

Ah! Yeah, I get that. The problem is there are few IW transfers on the sheet that are smaller than those that actually fit on the panels of the Sicaran. Those skulls where the biggest I got. I did do a lot of grime over these though. :)

Ah, I meant the MMORPG The Old Republic. I just can't have fun with Knights of the Old Republic when my female protagonist can't romance Bastila Shan I have to deal with the Dungeons & Dragons gameplay and dumb mandatory minigames.

Oh yeah, the post mustn't be about this alone.

...update your title. :tongue.:

Haha updated the title, Knight of the Raven. Good enough? ;) :p Just teasing, buddy. :)

Today I'll hopefully be finishing the Hell Talon. It's finally NOT super hot outside, so I'd rather have gone biking - unfortunately I got a flat tire almost immediately. Four (4!) (FOUR) inner tubes later, I finally discovered the wheel lint inside the wheel was worn, which was causing the ruptures. Demotivated, I started painting, and couldn't quite stop - so this day will be productive! Yay!

Here's the half-painted flyer with his twin, which I finished last year.

Hope you like!

Boom! The Hell Talon is finished!

@ Thousand Eyes and Uveron: yeah, Hell Talons are great anti-flyer - flyers. So I guess in the new Dogfight rules they are fighters? I don't know. But for 115 points you get 4 S7 TL shots, with essentially tank hunter against one specific flyer. Plus they have a dumbed down form of Vector Dancer rule. They're pretty powerfull. I use them as exellent counters against my mates' double Storm Talon shenanigans.

Anyway, here's pictures!

I hope you like it! :)

Awesome :smile.:

How have you done the lightning effects? Just freehands?

Thanks! The lightning is done by spraying a 1:1 mix of VMA French Blue and VMA Light Sea Blue in a lightning-esque pattern, then following that pattern with a 0/10 brush with a 1:1 mix of WMA Light Sea Blue and VMA Barley Grey. It's slightly different from what I used to do with my Night Lords, but then again, this is the first Night lord unit I painted in 13 months - a Predator Annihilator in my second ETL IV vow, which I finished on June 21st 2015.

Edited by Augustus b'Raass

The lightning bolts and base on that Hellblade are particularly lovely! Fantastic work! Did you paint the cockpit windows solid red, though? I think I'd never forgo the advantage of a fully detailed, visible cockpit interior, to be honest...

Anyway, a fantastic addition to your force!

It's looking damn fine for it to! Pure awesome cutting through the night. Great work Mr Augustus!

How did you go about dealing with the canopy? Was it a chore? It's lovely glassy red.

I second the call for a Night Lords Hellblade from you ;)

Thanks guys,

To answer the questions from KrautScientist and BrotherJim about the canopy:

Yes, it is a proper bitch to assemble that thing: it's a very fiddly bit, and it never is supplied with straight lines. So you ave to heat it to bend it in place. The problem is, it's so small and fiddly, that you have to get all seven corners straight at the same time - which is virtually impossible.

The canopy's windows are actually see-through red plasticard. I drybrushed the interior in white, as experience has taught me that that's the only way yo make it visible through any kind of coloured glass. I had to cut the three windows (there's one on top) by hand, and then glue that with a 2-epoxy glue, which was an even bigger bitch. I think I spend more time on the canopy than on the paint job of the rest of the model.

Also: thanks, Eldrick Shadwoblade. :)

Well it was well worth the effort mate. Thanks for the details. It's all those little extra details that go into your miniatures really make them whole. The thread too. That is the greatest Contemptor I have every seen. His pose is so powerful, the painting is extraordinary, and all the added details blend seamlessly together with the mini. I can't keep up, I just get lost. I hate you Augustus, I hate you a lot. (But in a good way!)

Cheers! Have you done a Night Lords Spartan Assault Tank? I want to look at it. :)

HA! Thanks buddy, I hate you too. :wub.:  Sadly, no Night Lords Spartan. I basically have every unit that isn't either a mutilator, a cult marine or a Defiler (because seriously, that model is the most ugly model in the range) done in Night Lords colours, and the army is basically done. I never thought I'd say that, but as it's over 9000 points now, there's no real reason to add anything more. I'll be focussing on Khorne Daemonkin and HH Iron Warriors for the coming year, plus some additions to my Imperial Fists. :)

plus some additions to my Imperial Fists. :smile.:

Hark, doth mine ears hear the sounds of 5th Company, returning victorious & glorious from battlefields across the Galaxy? :biggrin.:

That Hell Talon looks splendid! A bit sad to hear that the Night Lords won't get any more reinforcment anytime soon, but with 9000 points done I kind of understand you.

Glad to hear that 5th company will get some love though! Not that Daemonkin and IW are not going to be interesting (great stuff so far) but your Fists were really nice, and as I got the honor to name a sergeant I can't deny to follow their progress with great interest.
