Looks like they adjusted the head and eyes a little to pull away from the Necron look, unless it's just the angle of the photo?

Yeah really seems so. Definitely look better than the first two. I'm really tempted with them.

To me, it really looks really like a more sophisticated sculpt, but of course I could be wrong.

You can see that on the previously released pads the cheeks are flat => necron skull look. The new ones have extensions there => look like the skull mask again. That's just one detail that sprung into my eye.

I think the Iron Hands helmets would be a very nice alternative to the the standard Iron Warrior Upgrade helmets from GW:
